I've been trying to break down why these videos are so addicting and enjoyable to watch. Here's my take, every interaction initially starts with an air of suspicion and distrust. When my man switches tongues, it shatters their negative expectations and is almost immediately filled with fascination, wonder, and excitement. That transition is felt by us (the audience) equally. It's the rapid change between social disinterest to social connection. Strangers normally don't behave this way unless they meet an idol or celebrity. All this man does is speak their language.

I bet people have approached him with the same kinds of questions to give him very rude comments. I bet that though he's lived 40 years in NJ, some people have probably told him to "go home" to Egypt 🙁 I'm Latina and some of my family members who live in the US (2nd or even 3rd generation) still get the whole: but where are you from REALLY? *sigh*

@@SweetJeopardy you don't even have to speak with an accent to get racist abuse these days...I was born here and speak perfect English with the neutral Midland accent and I have had people assume I don't speak English or I'm an illegal immigrant because of the way I look. I got harrassed one time by a racist old woman at the grocery store because I didn't hear her talking to me. So she then went on to ask me "Do you speak English? No of course not, you must speak Mexican" and tell me to get out of "her country".
