This person shouldn’t be advising anyone on Cambodia. He is extremely misinformed and unworldly. A lot of what he said is untrue and/or exaggerated, and reflects his inexperience as a world traveler. For example, don’t expect to see Cambodians with dreads or braids, and know that neither black people nor black culture are worshipped by Cambodians. Cambodian food is not better than Thai food… and the good (safe to eat) Cambodian food rarely costs $2-$3. Everything in Cambodia isn’t cheap, seeing as they use US dollars alongside their own currency, and often times they price things in US dollars and it’s often similar to what you’d pay in Western countries. Contrary to what he said about LGBT, ladyboys are everywhere in Cambodia. You’ll see ladyboys in nightclubs and in the nightlife areas, and unlike Thailand, ladyboys in Cambodia are hunting for foreign men too drunk to recognize them as such. Furthermore, he’s speaking from a tourist perspective about things beyond his comprehension… things that only an expat can speak about. Cambodia is definitely up-and-coming, but this dude is not the person to speak about it.

You are worried about the women out there getting braids. Of course not all women are getting breads. Some men do get dreadlocks. The women I was dating at the time was a African hairstyles trained from Japanese standard. If you go to the mall, you are paying 2-5 bucks for a meal no cap. Aeon 3 mall you might be paying more. I went there once and I don't remember the exact cost. That is your personal opinion between Thai and Cambodian food. Of Course everything isn't cheap, it all depends on where you go. Like I said before, I only been there for a month, I am not an expat. I was simply sharing my first time experience.

Cambodia 🇰🇭 is a developing country. So, not a very high quality of life here. Everything isn’t inexpensive and foreigners or “Barrangs” as Cambodians refer to us as, are regularly overcharged. Petty crime is a common occurrence. Packs of dogs can be problematic also. Visit, see the attractions and move on. Thailand 🇹🇭 is more like a Western country as far as development.
