SHONUFF you're confusing cost of production with value. Fiat just like any government-issued currency does have value. Value, in the economic sense, is created by a near universal demand. Since the government only accepts it's own currency for taxes and fees, there is near univeral demand for said currency, so people trade it. The other important components are it being imperishable, portable, and difficult to counterfeit, which is why precious metals have been favored in the past. However, their prices and supplies fluctuate too, often out of control (including to the point of hyper-inflation) and make expanding the money supply when needed difficult. Sure, an irresponsible government can mismanage a fiat currency, but there are plenty of problems with commodity-backed currency as well. Bitcoin and other crypto currencies are a bit more complicated than I can easily break down in a youtube comment, but they're not entirely without either value or problems of their own.

It's common sense. Why would a person with MONEY be asking YOU for money to help get them money they already have? That's the oldest ruse in the book. I just need a little money to help access this HUGE amount of money. Like why would they need some stranger in order to do that? The scammer doesn't have a job? I read a story in a magazine once, (maybe Tim Cahill in Outside?) in which the author played along with the scammer for a few days pretending to be getting the money to by the solvent needed to clean the "money". In the end the parties had a telephone conversation in which the scammer realized he was being humored along, and finally said "it was nice conversing in English for a while".

I fell for it honestly. If approached the average person would fall for it. The guys pulled this shit off on me right before my eyes. I now know how they do it. They distract you for a brief moment after your money is wrapped in the foil and switch it out with a pre wrap foil package that looks similar to the one your money is actually in. They put the wrapper foil in the safe in the hotel room. You leave together bc they say it takes a couple hours. Your the only one with the room key. They make up a situation where they can’t make it back to the room in time. You go to the room open the safe the package is there you rinse it and find out it’s paper. For this interested I can get more detail about my experience
