Short story about Zhu Bajie: He was once an admiral in heaven, but then casted out to earth bcs he saw the moon goddess had an affair with a jade emperor. He was originally supposed to be reborn as a human, but an error on the Reincarnation Wheel led to him being born in the womb of a sow. This turned him into a half-man, half-pig monster. There's this Chang'e, one of the moon goddess servant that fell in love with Zhu Bajie when he was the admiral. She followed him to earth, leaving her immortality. They met and fell in love. But the heaven saw this and denied their fate for each other

Quick tip: whenever you suck one of those floating wills or any kinds of spirits with your gourd it will refill the gourd by one sip, so you can take advantage of it by drinking first and then refill the gourd by absorbing the stuff.

Fun fact, in the chinese dub he actually calls you "virtuous nephew" or something along those lines because he was that close with sun wukong. He's also supposed to be like, 11 feet tall, so its funny to see him so tiny

Hey Delirious, thought you might appreciate this comment since it pertains to lore. In chapter two, where you fight all the rats and tigers, when you went to fight the giant beetle, remember you had to fight a tiger vanguard first? This is showing a scene from the original Journey to the West. It's essentially a flashback. That tiger demon is the father of the two tigers that you fight as the Destined One- the tiger in the pool of blood, and the mad tiger. They're brothers. "Tiger Vanguard" is a title passed down through generations. The younger brother wanted to inherit his father's title, so he tricked his older brother and imprisoned him in the well. As for the rat princes, and that one depressed guy later saved behind the purple seal, he is the third prince of the sand kingdom. The rat kingdom originally had 3 princes. Originally, the kingdom was saved from the sound of the boiling sea by Buddha gifting them a drum to drown out the sound. However, due to this, Buddhism gained lots of followers, decreasing the king's influence. So he had the temples and buddha statues destroyed. Buddha responded to this by sending Fuban, the giant beetle. Whenever the drum sounded at sunset to drown out the sun, Fuban responded by coming to the surface and destroying villages and eating people. The Yellow Sand Sage, the rat, defeated the beetle for the kingdom. After that, all rodents became welcomed in the kingdom and seen as sacred. 2 of the 3 princes were unhappy with the direction the kingdom was going. The first prince was unhappy with his own military achievements overshadowed by the rodent sage, so he lashed out and was thrown in prison for that. However, one day when he did not receive his meal, he came out to find everyone turned into rat monsters. The third prince is the imprisoned dude in chapter 3 (the one that tells you to go back to jail and stop wandering around in the Pagoda Realm scene. It's the gameplay where your health casually drops by half). If you complete the third prince's side quest, he will gift you a spear to craft a weapon. His side quest is to save his four generals. Due to his belief in Buddha, he left the kingdom before everyone turned into rats.

Love seeing you take the time to do all the easily missable stuff/secrets. Check the area around where the dragon guy moved along the coast the second time to start another quest line thst gives you the spell binder spell super powerful and useful some bosses locks ur magic out but for 90 seconds gives you MASSIVE offensive boost great foe bosses where spells trigger their special abilities

So that gentlemen in the cell is the third prince mentioned in chapter 2 and the reward for his quest is a craftable spear which has unique combos in thrust stance.

So i noticed you frequently run back to the save points, i discovered that one of the artifacts (?) gotten from the first chapter allows you to travel back to the last shrine you used and the teleport effect is the same as a rest. Its called incense trail talisman .

It's Piggsy and also fun fact the thing that piggsy is in, is a pot used by one of the alchemist in heaven which straps away your immortality. Also there's a secret boss on the ride side of the turtle it's another dragon

I can’t believe you were having so much fun that you didn’t even notice that you were locked on the wrong enemy Also idk if you know but when you suck up those green/blue floating flames, they also refill your gourd so make sure to heal before sucking them up. Also blue does a complete refill while green only refill based on how many flames are floating. Each flame represents a single use so you know how much it will refill.

The weapon merchant if u defeat him u will gain his transformation and you have mot purchased the head piece of your armor thats why you are not able to see it and the guy in the picture mode gives u a side quest which if you complete you get a legendary weapon in your staff upgrades
