If you can cut off four of the venom daoist's arms in the first encounter with him, he drops an alternate arm piece for this set. It still has the set bonus, give 3% crit and has the added effect of inflicting venom bane on a critical hit. Must have piece for this build.

Weird but cool tip I found by accident: Weavers Needle + Violet Hail transformation…. ridiculously fun way of poisoning with this build. If you pop the needle, and then immediately transform… the hits from the needle will COUNT as if it’s a light attack hit with the transformation. Lemme explain further: If you haven’t learned how the transformation works… basically when you hold the heavy attack button, you will stab yourself to charge focus while damaging your health. It’s intended use is that, once you’ve charged your focus, successful hits with the blade will inject larvae that you can then cast “Hive Mind” or “De-Transform” to make the larvae explode, causing big poison damage. Most people probably overlook this transformation since it’s kind of slow, difficult, and very risky to try and get those hits in after you’ve already heavily damaged yourself lmao Well, this is where the needle comes into play. Stick yourself far enough away from the boss when you pop the needle and the transformation… and as the needle homes in to do one-off pokes, just sit back and charge focus. The needle will somehow “inject” the larvae for you from afar! 😂 You’ll see the indication that it’s working since your focus points will be going away as you’re charging them AND the boss will have lil green dots all over them. Charge focus points as much as you can safely, dodge intermittently when you have to, and then hit de-transform just before you run out of health to make all those successful larvae injections explode. BIG poison damage fr! Super fun when you do it successfully. I hope this helps anyone else who also likes poison play-styles!

If you really want a perfect poison build you absolutely need a special piece you can only get on a specific boss named Venom Daoist on chapter 4 by beat it on the back side to see his arms down to the ground. Then you will get Venomous armguard who contain an unique talent than put poison to your enemies with critical hits. This completely changed the build. Try it 🥳

​@@YuuritoDracoMost people will on their first run unless they know about it beforehand. I also missed it, but you can still use this set you just don't inflict poison bane in crit. So you have to rely on the spirit to do it for you, which is arguably the better option anyway because the staff only inflicts poison bane if you're poisoned and only on heavies so most tend to opt for the other staff that has increased healing till they can build around crit

I was at the end of chapter 4 just needed the main boss and yellowloong buy started over just to get the glove.. just re craft a low level staff use immobilize on the 8 armed boss first encounter and beat his back. Get 4 of the 8 arms to fall off then Jill him. Easy peasy.. wanted the curio that dropped from killing all 9 jailers as well. Good attack boost when using cloud step.

I used this build to complete my first play through. I highly recommend that you try mixing it with a crit build to make use of the 12% from the staff (you can upgrade it to get 25% crit chance in NG+). Use the Tiger Tendon Belt soak, the Cat Eye Beads Curio, and the Father of Stone spirit.

Yea the gear miss venomous armguards ( secret armguard ) , and i would say remove amber prayer beads for spine in the sack curios , cause it's a poison build you want to amplify more poison damages rather gaining more focus id say ,there is also a skill tree later than you can unlock in transformation tree that boost poison damages as well,it's related to a missable quest.

It’s important to not that when you poison yourself with the Deathstinger soak, Celestial Birthstone Fragment will also ignore YOUR resistance to poison as well. And if your poison resistance gets to 100, you won’t be able to poison yourself at all and you won’t get the damage bonus from the armor set

I found poison gauntlets that cause poison damage every time you cause critical health I found these gauntlets randomly in chapter 4 I think and they go great with the centipede armour.

@@gringuz7710 for anyone wondering, you can get the gauntlet in chapter 4 and it does NOT drop randomly, you have to defeat the scorpion boss (the one that's trapped in a cocoon that you have to break first) and only hit him in the back to remove his arms, you'll be good as long as he only has 4 arms left (the ones holding his swords and two in the back).

After playing this build for a while I have to say the elder armourworm Is one of if not the best spirit skills for this build, or any build. The passive gives you an increase crit chance while you’re in a poison state which you’re already going to be, but the pools of poison that it leaves behind DO NOT GO AWAY it’s ridiculous how easy it is to keep an enemy poisoned with the skill just kite them into the pools and the poison will stay up 24/7

The only issue for me is the cast time.. it's the longest channel I've seen out of all the spirits. That alone makes me not want to use it personally. I love Commander Beetle.. instant 360 degree nuke, with considerable poison resistance.

@@TyeCozMusic I’ve used it in nearly every boss fight with absolutely no issues. For the first part of it the bosses just sort of walk around you not attacking And when they do start attacking it’s one of the few spirit skills that you don’t get knocked out of plus as you’re slamming your head around your end up hitting them doing some extra damage and knocking them back. And like I said the pools last for most of the fight.

I get knocked out of it probably 50% of the time even if I use it with maxed out Immobilize. The Immobilize breaks on the first hit and then the boss just follows up and knocks me out.

You can reset some celestial medicine buffs at shu dog,i kept my poison resistant at 99 ,bcs you cant poison yourself if youre at a 100 ,99 will still allow you to get poisoned ,but significantly reduce the poison dmg you take per tick. The poison per tick drop from 12 dmg per tick down to a manageable 3 dmg per tick with 99 poison resistance for me

hello, am I the only one here that has a different version of the spider celestial staff ? On mine it's inflicting bane only if the enemy is poisoned (not myself). I feel it's way less interesting that way because the passive is useless on mobs since i don't want to pop off my spirit on weak opponents

There’s also a staff you can get a new game plus that has the health region perk of the spider stuff but boast a 25% Crit chance, you can combine that with the secret poison gaunlets of the venom daoist to Apply poison that way

I don't know what's wrong with my build. But I have all of these items and it's not actually poisoning anyone but me. Even my charged attacks aren't really doing anything. When I use the scorpion Prince, it poisons the enemy. But the heavy hit with the staff isn't poisoning them. 🤷
