Wow, I'm not sure I've ever seen a video game cutscene take itself so seriously and deliver so adeptly. The graphics are stunning, the dialogue is reminiscent of old Chinese dramas, and its thoughtful cinematography is refreshing for an art form that tends to default to static close-ups, loud action sequences, and constant dialogue prompts. This development team is clearly inspired and I'm very interested to see what other surprises await us.

in the original novel there are seven spider monsters (the old one might be one of them) and they were defeat and caught by a goddess invited by wukong(the real one). in this game it's seems there is one spider managed to escape and now she asked her dauthers kidnapping someone for her “wedding" (player, maybe the new wukong?) ps: female spiders will eat the male after they intercoursed.

Meanwhile the last words "GET OUT" expressing in such desperate manner also tell us how much she loves him even after all those years, she is suppressing her nature and wants her spouse to run. Feel kinda like Professor Snape in Harry Potter, a tragic figure trapped in the web of love, and yes irony intended.

dont worry about if u never read “Journey to the west”, the story of the game is a completely new version which happened after Journey to west probably. What this video about is one of the spider girl caught someone (maybe wukong) for “the marriage” of the spider mother which is the boss for feeding.

nah. It should capture the essence of the conversation, Chinese becomes too complicated when translated word for word. It becomes too poetic for casual speach and sounds pretty awkward. Like 一路辛苦, the literal translation is just too extra and unnecessar. Keep in mind the goal of transaltion is to make it easy for the outside world to understand, without unecessary complications.

Some background on why this video about a wedding ceremony is uploaded now. This is made according to the Chinese version of Valentine's Day Qi Xi 七夕, which is celebrated July 7th on the lunar calendar. This festival is based around the legend of The Cowherd and The Weaver Girl. This couple would meet once a year on the 7th day of the 7th month in the night sky. The couple is represented by the stars of Vega and Altair, while a third star Deneb forms the bridge they stand on. They're separated by the milky way for the rest of the year. For this year the date was August 4th. Women would traditionally wear the qi pao, the Chinese dress, among other traditions. A lot of Asian cultures also have a version of this festival. In Korea it's called Chilseok festival. In Japan it's called Tanabata, which is a festival that shows up in mostly romance or romcom anime. If you've seen Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You, the whole story revolves around this legend.
