As someone who grew up in China and a huge fan of Journey to the West, I really appreciate all the attention and support this game is receiving even across the ocean. I know there are a lot of areas in this game such as map wise game mechanics wise that might fall behind amazing games like GOW, but keep in mind this is Game science’s first time making production in this scale, they never had any prior experience. Plus for people that don’t know, unreal engine almost did not have any ancient Chinese architecture models. One of the criticisms this game received during the trailer in 2020 was its usage of inaccurate historical architecture models. Therefore the developers actually took their time and traveled all around China just to collect data and made all the models by themselves. Game wise, all the minor mistakes/areas for improvement will be fixed with more experience and budget. But despite that, Black Myth will always remain a special spot in my heart, the story of this game is what I can truly call a masterpiece. I understand its difficult for anyone that is not super into Journey to the West to resonate and I don’t blame anyone for that, but for people that really did understand the writing, I’m sure most of them will appreciate this game just as the way I am.

wukong relies on FSR and frame generation to reach the bare minimum 1080p 60fps on low. i have played it and i know its not efficient at all. none of the unreal engine 5 games are efficient. god of war on the other hand does not need FSR or frame generation for 1080p medium , 60fps for the graphic card i have but wukong barey reaches 55fps on 1080p low at native resolution

But for 2018 god of war was phenomenal and jaw dropping in terms of scale and bosses... I expected Ragnarok to set a high standard in terms of grandiosity and bosses but it fell short, all bosses and almost the entire game select like arena to arena fight sequences as opposed to 2018 (except fenrir) and I was terribly disappointed with the final Ragnarok Thor fight and the entire Ragnarok sequence, I was expecting it to be like black myth's heavenly kings boss battle

There is massive difference in the budget, available resources and experience, for the game studios who did only mobile games to deliver good quality games like this is impressive. And also you need to remember Chinese company has limited access to high end tools graphics cards due to US sanctions and it is massive blow for game studios where quality of devices everything when you render scenes and model the assets. Maybe not th best physics in the game it is no doubt 10/10 when it comes to creativity, variations of enemies, bosses and fighting style of each bosses

I have both games. Black Myth is just more impressive, no question about it. Unreal Engine 5 vs Unreal Engine 4 (Is it?). At times Black Myth looks photorealistic. Black Myth wasn't bad but it's really overrated for me, it's been way too many years that Journey to the west doesn't get a proper adaptation, including games and movies, almost all of them are just for China cash grab moment, finally there's a proper game But still, it's just a lot of different game mechanics combined into one It looks like Sekiro based on Graphics The equipment menu, open chest movement are just like GOW4 From what I've experienced in gaming, it's like a Taiwan Game called "Thymesia" Overall the story is quite good, they nailed most of the characters, but truly wasn't that great tbh For the budget, it's not a fair comparison since China salaries and Western Salaries aren't the same. One of the examples is that Godzilla Minus One budget compared to Marvel's budget, most Asians workers are underpaid.

I never enjoyed some art direction of GOW. In term of snow field wukong has way better looking snow field. The light reflection and brightness just looks more realistic, if you ever been to a real snow field you know it's often bright af. Not saying GOW looks bad though. I also think few points in this video is bias. Wukong has more environmental interactions when fighting. The snow and sand change dramatically when fighting. I don't quite understand when you try to say gow has impressive fighting details when showing little cuts of trees and snow. These things were non notacible when i play the game. Enemy dissolve is a weird plus, who cares if gow has more ways to dissolve enemy? The tree moving in wind is weird too. The clip you show about the wukong, there is no big wind in the scene. So the tree shouldn't be moving in that situation. Not to mention it's clear that wukong's ice is so much better looking than gow, some how that's not a plus. The foot print i. Wukong didn't disappear in my game too. Wukong has more environment variety in game than gow too, desert, mountain, forest, snow and volcano is all quite well depicted in the game. While gow mostly focused on forest and snow while rushing everything else. Wukong do have much lower budget than gow. But in term of graphic and sceneary in game, i recommend wukong and red dead redemption not necessarily gow.

Black myth had a much smaller budget than the already successful gow even though it still managed to beat gow in some aspects but now that black myth generated a close to billion profits,i expect black myth 2 to have much bigger budget that's when comparisons could be made

Wukong has better combat system, character progression, enemy variety and boss design. Visually it's one of the most impressive games out there and it actually feels next gen at least on PC.

God of war and God of war Ragnarok destroy wukong on PC, maxed out. when the PS5 version maxed out is compared. They're are hidden shaders hidden textures and hidden lighting effects in the PS5 version only that obliterate all multiplats on PC maxed out graphically.

To be fair, Wukong costs $40 at start. While God of War Ragnorok costs $70 at start. I am a fan of both btw, i love both of them. But i would give this to God of War -cuz i am a PlayStation fan-

No it's not, just the dev are in experianced with consoles (which is why Xbox ver haven't gotten released), but considering they havw literally zero AAA projects before, just start straight with very intensive unreal engine 5, it's one of very optimized UE5 out there - I'm talking about this game playable on a fricking SteamDeck - that device run like 15-18w TDP

Idk how people see a resemblance between wukong and god of war besides mythology. I’ve played all from software games and wukong is far closer to those games than god of war. Maybe not in all aspects but the gameplay and boss battles definitely stick out for me

If you really look closely Wukong looks like it was base on GOW lol even the statues in the winter area and opening of loot box was similar. Wukong did a great job.

Wukong is not far off from God of war nad I consider god of war and god of war Ragnarok to be very easily better than every other game released in since 2018. Wukong is a phenomenal game and it's like that cause you can see the devs have passion and love for the source material. generational games both of them and wukong is easily GOTY
