Take care of yourself Mark hopefully the new meds help the black rose are looking amazing

Thanks bud. They look good, but man, they are gonna be a pain in the butt. Was hoping they would've been a bit better so I could start mass production for sales, but they're gonna take a lot of work before they get to that point. More like another project tank really.

Lol thanks man. Glad you're enjoying them, I'll keep doing them as long as people watch and I'm able to do it.

First time I’ve seen black rose shrimp. Very cool! Hope your medical and prescription issues work out for you. Be careful on the muscle relaxers, I’ve had crazy issues with muscle relaxers having had 3 spine surgeries. No fun!
@MarkShellyAquatics10 ай бұрын
Used to always think greens were hardest line, think blackrose might have them beat. Muscle relaxers suck bad for sure. My old med was giving me really bad leg cramps and keeping me up. Dr said to try a new one, and it caused the leg cramps x10. I've about lost my voice waking up screaming with cramps that wont go away and last for hours. That was the last 2 weeks, week before that was kidney stones. Think I was due for a rough patch lol, had been smooth sailing before this.
@island_Dave_KeyWest10 ай бұрын
@@MarkShellyAquatics that sounds worse than a “rough patch!” Hope you get some relief soon! Best muscle relaxer I was ever on is Soma. But they can be very addictive. Take care. And thanks for still posting while you’re going through all of this.

You should do a baby shrimp sanctuary!! A completely separate tank that you drop your berried ladies in until the egs hatch, then put her back in her tank and wait until you can pick out the best of the best to put back in the main tank! you get far less good ones to the amount of bad ones you get, so it would be much easier to select! If i had the space, i would also do that. Then again, im hording mine. i need to sell some of my painted fire reds along with my kanoko Reds, but i haven't gotten around to doing it yet, haha. Hope all gets better for you and your sleep. Take care of yourself

Lol yeah man , if I had the space I would do things differently for sure, each project tank would be 3 tanks, for breeders, grow outs, and the best of the best after the breeders. Reset every 2 generations, sometimes 1 generation with my line creation projects, is best I can do, on those project tanks I put the berried females in another tank. Something I been doing lately and does help for sure. This blackrose tank I just culled super hard, found about 20 more after I was done with video, probably took half the shrimp out lol. This wasnt really a reset, just the first babies getting to breeding age with a new line. Today has been a bit better, hopefully the worst of it is behind me.

I've got some nice, black rose shrimp with just a little bit of a subtle red around their eyes that I'm breeding up to add to my volcano-themed (everything's black, red & orange colored) lava, jungle tank soon. There are so many great colors to choose from with these little guys! I love 'em all.

Hate hearing about the health issues! Hope you feel better real quick! I think black rose are the prettiest and highly underrated. MYbe because the line can be difficult to breed true?
@MarkShellyAquatics10 ай бұрын
Might be, you'll see some breeders have them, they'll be way more than other lines, and ALWAYS be out of stock. I probably would've got something else to be honest had I known these guys would be like this, was told about 80% keepers, after I did a couple more cull rounds after making video, turned out to be more like 50%. It's so disappointing to say the least. Pain in the butt for sure. I'll stick with them and see if they get better after 3 or 4 generations. First group I had years ago threw lots of wilds, so these are ahead of those by a lot, feel like its more of a chocolate line that throws blues and blacks lol. Talked to other breeders in Asia who know way more than me and they say you'll probably never get rid of the blues with the blacks, since they are supposed to come from blues that have gone black.

Hope your medical issues resolve soon. We love the videos, but I'm sure I speak for the rest of KZbin when I say, "Please take care of yourself so that you're around later to send out more videos when you are well."

Thanks, it's just me here lol. The show must go on. I've had to do some tough jobs in the past. Playing with shrimp and making a video about is not too hard on me, lol. Gotta keep grinding so I can keep doing what I love, even when I don't feel good. Thank you for the concern. I appreciate it 🙏

To be fair, those are very nice blues…
@MarkShellyAquatics10 ай бұрын
@Shleeeemp lol, best mixed tank I ever had was the blues my first blackroses threw. Those guys made everything on that side of neo genetics that was possible. It was fun.
@Shleeeemp10 ай бұрын
@@MarkShellyAquatics have you ever had any yellow neon crosses? I’ve got a colony and seem to have some orangey- looking ones (striped) in there…
@MarkShellyAquatics10 ай бұрын
@Shleeeemp not really. My old yellow line quit breeding. Threw in a bunch a bunch of lesser reds like 700, and still get yellows popping up, but lots of wilds. I think yellows would probably mix best with greens, but greens can come from orange so who knows lol.

I'm sorry you've been having such a hard time medically 😕 that's never easy. I did hear somewhere that if you're trying to breed darker colors to use dark substrate as well because they attempt to camouflage themselves. Could be a load of crap but lol maybe worth an experiment
@MarkShellyAquatics10 ай бұрын
Its true for some lines, but black shrimp on black sand doesn't sound fun. Most colors look better on black, even lighter ones.
