You need to use a third-party client for the game when you pirate it because the steam client has drm. Meaning that you won't be able to play the game if you don't have a legit copy on steam.

Nameless Noobs just announced today that they were victims of DDoS attacks across multiple servers across multiple clients and they have already changed server providers to fix the issue. so when exploits and issues are found server owners are generally quick to get a fix to ensure players are secure

well from an it stand point, 5 mins to modify the file... maby an hour of walking/sitting/loading the program to interface with the server and find the file you have to edit then have it wait for a server restart to be applied.... altho since cod is an interconnected system like it is.... it can have cascading issues if not all points like the modified are modified to handle the change.

If you have a look at the back of CoD game cases (like xbox 360 and such) there is a legal notice saying something along the lines of 'activision does not guarentee that online services will be provided', assuming that that is a failsafe from all those years ago as in 20+ years down the line servers may not be available. this kinda situation falls under it I'd guess - again I do wish there was a dedicated security team for these problems

i wish lol!!!!!!!!!! but the issue with activision is they will let it become unplayable so when they reskin/bring back a map they can force people to pay for it again!! (it's an ingenious buisness model targetted at dedicated players blind to the fact) its cheaper and easier and faster to reskin a map then make people pay again, then it is for them to port the map over and creativly add it to the current games mode/map lists and dlc list on platform marketplaces like steam and say if you baught it before on the old platform/console then you could use it on the new game... which they would have to track the purchases and allow license unlocks on the new platform meaning growing content library and less money... hence why they reskin and force you to pay again, just like forcing people to buy a new console+rebuy the same game you just had on the old console.... (why most people prefer pc over console, we dont have to buy a new pc then rebuy the game every generation.....)

there is a server browser, but there is a fundamental flaw with the main servers (I.E logging into the game) you don't have to be in a game for someone to crash you, they can crash your game and do whatever malicious things they want while you're in the menus

I played the steam version last year and got hacked everything thank god I didnt have my bank details saved on my pc on steam I had to use my backup email to change everything to and changed every password. However my Ubisoft got completely gone for about 7 months until I got that back and haven’t touched it since.

No P2P can be made safe. Activision just won't. The reason T7 is pretty safe is because it uses a password(ideally you should set it to something strong enough that won't get brute forced.) If you're gonna use T7 to play with your friends with a password. It's about 100% safe (aslong as you're not using unsafe mods.) the boiii client online is really safe, but not as safe as private lobbies on T7. T7 passwordless is less safe than boiii. And nothing at all is almost as bad as malware.

This is why I only play custom zombies and with invite only. An update or hot fix around 2 years ago made the main menu insanely laggy. Can't help but think it was on purpose.

that update that broke the menu was unintentional, it was an update that sends out more pings to servers than intended and ruins performance because of it
