At the end of Black Panther I had to tell two different groups of people leaving the theater that "this is a Marvel movie; you don't leave until the lights go up." They had no clue of the stingers that always appear during and after the credits. When the lights came up and I looked around there were only three or four other people still there. tsk tsk

In my opinion, Killmonger is the greatest villain because his motives were based on our real-life history which is slavery and the colonization of Africa, America, and Australia. Oppression and hundreds of years of oppression and murder based on race. Then the movie throws in the fictional aspect of an advanced African city "Wakanda" that could have prevented that. This makes us especially "some" feel and understand the villain even more. So that's why I feel like Killmonger is the best villain. He's closest to human history.

I disagree. I felt his motives were very rudimentary because of all you said, and we never learned much about how he lived therefore robbing him of the complexity needed to make him a compelling character. This is why Loki is still the best villain ever. Killmonger didn't get enough screen time with Black Panther or with characters central to the main storyline in order to highlight and amplify the loss he experienced like we have with Loki.

That could possibly have been his conspicuously absent American mother's ancestors. What happened to her anyway? But if his ancestors jumped from the ship (presumably either already dead or drowned) how did Killmonger come to be? It's a lot of racial rhetoric to cover up that it was Wakanda internal politics and isolationism that killed his father and denied him his paternal heritage. Well, that and the fact he was a traitor. Unfortunately, it seems that Michael B. Jordan was condemned to play an amoral thug with a massive racial chip on his shoulder. Now before the hate starts flowing in, please answer: did he or did he not kill his girlfriend for no reason other than 'convenience'? Did he or did he not murder the museum curator for likewise spurious reasons? And did he or did he not call for an enforced divided society with 'blacks on top this time'?

Barry Whittingham -- Yes, Erik Kilmonger sounds like another famous Erik, better known as Magneto, who agreed with the Nazis, except that he put mutants in for the so-called Aryans. Kilmonger puts black Africans in for either mutants or Aryans; admittedly, a larger portion of the species. I realize that the X-Men are in another cinematic universe for complicated business reasons, but it is the same sentiment.

His -intention- was to do good, but his means were violence. This isn't chaos. Killmonger is not in it for the kill. Killing is a means to an end. What Killmonger wanted was an uprising, a change of the status quo. Let's remember, though, that those reasons are why he is the ANTAGONIST. Black Panther understands his intents, and it even changes him as a person, but he knows his means are wrong. This isn't chaos, he has very clear motivations.
