NinjaFresh 😂 It was a very long explanation (let me rephrase. A very long and EXHAUSTING SJW emotional response). Something about Blade isn’t a hero bc he’s really a villain and the black in the character wasn’t emphasized (I explained the White was never emphasized in any hero I ever knew to which I was told “exactly.”). As with most “debates” with lefties, it’s exhausting bc no matter how many facts I hit the man with, I got emotional responses. Namely the google definition of an antihero (to which I was directed) and the google definition of a hero (to which I was directed). His “argument” essentially came down to the fact that Blade didn’t come from Africa, didn’t save anyone, and therefore couldn’t be considered a “black hero.” Trust me. I tried asking simple questions like “Are you sure you saw Blade?” I think I ended up sending the guy to Cartman’s safe space. Bullet proof windows and all.

If Vibranium in its basic state could be as pliable as copper (so that even stone-age/bronze-age humies could work with it) but at the same time with developing new ways to process it (through some alloys or refining etc) to make it harder and purer centuries later , it really could kickstart your society in technology way above rest of the world. This premise is not as crazy as it sounds. Even today we have many inventions that could work miracles if only we had the right superconductor and so on. Of course fact that they did not conquer rest of the world and that they stayed hidden all the time is silly. But if Vibranium existed it could make Wakanda as strong as it did. Only thing I would love to see more is if they would put higher emphasis on them almost worshiping that metal.

T'Challa is the creator of the suit in the comics as well as being an engineering and programming genius on the level of Tony Stark and Reed Richards(See Illuminati in Marvel comics), and is considered to be one of the top three martial artists in the world. That is why he is uniquely the Panther. The Panther did not wear the suit before T'Challa. It's his invention. I don't know why they divested him of this save they found it too parallel with Iron Man(Frankly it is why the two constantly butt heads in the comics. They are mirror images of each other: heirs to their respective kingdoms who rebelled to become superheroes). Also, Wakanda is a monarchy. You cannot challenge for kingship. (Killmonger, via comics, assumed the throne through being a rightful heir when T'Challa was presumed dead, not by punching people. He did punch some people, though.) You CAN challenge to become the Black Panther in a yearly tournament, which is a domestic military position seperate from the Ruler. It makes more sense, as you would want a strong warrior to protect the kingdom. The Panther is NOT however in charge of the military. Many of T'Challa's problems in the comics come from him trying to be in both roles, which was mostly unprecedented; that and he's a interdimensional f-boy(see T'Challa and Susan Richards, and Storm, and...you get it.). In the comics, Wakanda is not some stylized central-African village with laser lighting. It is futuristic, although their clothing remains some weird mix of a dozen different countries. And they have guns. Lots of guns. Okay AND spears, but they are energy projectile weapons. They do not share the Herb with the general Wakandan public because it was the center of a huge conflict in the past. So it was ruled that only the Panther will take it, and anyone is welcome to tryout. Good luck beating the best fighter in the hemisphere, though. I find the movie pandering. Rhino's? @StarWarsomania Жыл бұрын
@@bbjygm Because Ultron’s statement doesn’t make sense if he’s referring to vibranium. Vibramium *isn’t* “the most versatile substance”, it’s a metal that absorbs vibrations. Making a shield out of it is the best use possible. And Cap’s shield isn’t “a frisbee,” it’s one of the most versatile (heh) weapons in the world, with both defensive and offensive capabilities that can be use as both a melee weapon and a long-distance weapon. I know, *I know,* later they decided vibranium is now liquid magic, and just adding vibranium to something makes *_poof_* technology or something now, but that is quite possibly one of the silliest things they did in the MCU. I’m referring to the time when the movies were grounded in something resembling logic and reality, and actions had consequences.

Actually one thing MauLer completely missed was that part of the way Wakanda keeps itself hidden from the world is by creating the facade that they are poor african nation. The reason they still use spears is because they want the rest of the world to think they don't have advanced weapons, when in truth the spears are actually more advanced than outsiders would realize. This is also seen with the border guards who have seemingly ordinary African cloaks that are actually highly advanced shields. The people the rest of the world see are the border tribe who only make themselves appear to be poor in order to keep the real wakanda hidden... And the reason why the advanced buildings look the way they do is because a country's architecture is often influenced by its culture; just because they are advanced doesn't mean they are gonna copy western style buildings especially if they were building them before the west was.

Btw the spears made of a material strong enough to stop a car going at a really fast speed are enough to draw attention to Wakanda's weaponry and boil this whole mess. 12:38 Fun fact; Rhinos are, in comparison to most other mammals, not incredibly intelligent, don't have very good vision, and are incredibly territorial and aggressive. You can find vids online of them knocking over trees and shit because their defense instinct got triggered by it, let alone any one animal that finds itself unfortunate enough to be within 20 feet of it. The very concept of "farming Rhinos" is quite dubious at best, and you certainly wouldn't be able to treat it like it's at a petting zoo like pictured here.

Coming from an African guy boy this video was somewhat of an eye opener. I mean I thought Black Panther was kickass and awesome in Civil War and was kinda excited for his own movie and when I watched it I thought I liked some stuff but I didn't really think all that much of it. Something about all the hype around it bothered me though and I hoped it wasn't something as blatant as race. But it was. Sometimes I feel I didn't hate or dislike a movie since after a year or so if I'm no longer thinking about it I feel it was maybe ok but watching this made me realize the reason I didn't think about Black Panther was I forgot a lot of the movie as it was boring or too predictable. Personally as a black guy (and I'm sure others can relate?) I'm sick and tired of slavery movies so I thought a movie like this would be great but...it was so so heavy handed with all the virtue signalling and "wow white guys are evil because of shit their ancestors did and blacks are awesome" that I cringed at a lot of it. Watching this video made me come to terms with all the things that made me not really care to remember it. I don't feel like I'm empowered as a black guy cause of this movie and I don't see how it's a cultural milestone honestly. Just make a good damn movie and stop telling us it's good cause it has black people, that's actually insulting. P.S. Using that Breaking Bad scene every time you're referring to forced racial commentary is one of the few things that honestly almost killed me lmao, it just got better and better!

Add to that, they are trying to portray the most advanced civilization as tribal spearchuckers with prehistoric architecture. I wholeheartedly reject the idea that "if the white man had not enslaved the African nations through colonialism than Africa would be a paradise". The African nations with the lowest GDP are the ones that were never colonies. I will not say that this is due to any inherent inferiority but is due to tribalism and adherence to traditional practices; I.E a lack of ability to adapt to different situations.

I can remember when Blade came it, it was a hit, it had two black leads, and ended up getting 2 sequals. No one went on about what a milestone it was to have a black lead (nor did they do it with Eddy Murphy, Denzil Washington, Richard Pryer or any other black stars years before), and just about everyone no matter what their race or sex was thought it was a great movie (seen it as a teen and loved it). And nor did i once hear anyone talk about race. It was just great actors and a great movie. Apparently not giving a shit about race years ago isnt as enlightened as pretending black stars nowadays is completely unique, never seen, amazing and enlightened. Don't we all operate on tribal mentality? From our friendship groups, the sports teams we support, the brand loyalty we have to franchises and products, all the way up to our politics. It seems to be human nature.
@triggerme61446 жыл бұрын
No, not at all, especially if using the tribal system in black panther, aka trail by combat. In most tribal systems, might makes right rather then right producing might. While groups of friends can be somewhat tribal, seeing as how gangs have territory and have wars over them, most aren't. There is no set leadership among groups of friends, people may leave and come as they please and only gain a title if the group takes part in activities. Sports teams can be said to be tribal, as there is a trail by combat to see which players will be the most favored, however the leader isn't chosen this way. The fans are just mobs and run by anarchy, the will of the mob really. Brands, nope, just nope. Once again, mostly mob rule. Politics, once again. No.

Basically. From what I gathered, essentially Black Panther is set in a Feudal society. This'd also help explain the markets. As, peasant markets tend not to offer much exceptionally valuable, since then the nobles would have no reason not to rob everything. You surround a person and at all times someone is pretty much out of sight for them and if everyone keeps them occupied while the person in their blind spot goes for the capture or kill they're pretty much screwed. +AlexBarkerG They get their Hi-Tech spears and hunt Omega-Hippos to bring back to their futuristic Plasma Mud Huts. Honestly how this movie is not considered "racist" is beyond me. This shit is actually funny. They even have some dude with that disc in his mouth stretching it out like some African tribes do. And we're supposed to take this seriously as a culturally/technologically advanced society. While dudes are stretching their lips out to 5 feet in circumference and wearing cheetah skin clothing.

Well if their economy makes no sense, SOMETHING SOMETHING VIBRANIUM. I assume they just build ATM's out of vibranium and they just shit money, considering that it is able to do absolutely anything in this movie without any real explanation.
@matthewmazzatto80036 жыл бұрын
Except injecting too much money into the economy would cause runaway inflation, which would hurt the economy tremendously. I think I found a problem that vibranium can't fix.

Baby Ribs OMG, so a movie set in a universe with literal Norse gods walking around, actual magic being used, a big green Hulk rampaging around, talking raccoons and trees, a guy who rides ants into battle on a toy train track, Infinity Stones, rainbow bridges and bifrosts, and Vibranium, has some scientific inconsistencies?
@King-Brando6 жыл бұрын
The difference is that they all have certain rules as to how each one is supposed to work. Sure, it seems stupid complaining about a metal being inconsistent when you put it like that, but we accept everything else because the individual rules each one sticks by. Vibrainium has it's rules clearly stated, and then proceeds to ignore those rules because the plot needs it to. And that's the problem people have with it.
@sweettacular98996 жыл бұрын
King Brando When did they explain all of Vibranium’s rules and properties - i.e. “it can do X but it can’t do Y and this is how it works” - in this movie? Also, Shuri didn’t necessarily say that the suit that utilizes kinetic energy like that is only composed of vibranium, so it’s unclear if it would even have to strictly obey rules of vibranium anyway. Their technology is insanely advanced, and Shuri is a genius, so who’s to say she can’t make something that selectively uses kinetic energy? Sure, they didn’t sit down and explain all this in detail and give us the rules of how it all works, but do they explain how Ulysses’ arm thing works, or how Wakandan spears shoot energy projectiles, or how Iron Man’s nanotech suit works, or how Stormbreaker summons the Bifrost, or how everyone can breathe on Titan in IW? No, because in the grand scheme of things, those are relatively small and insignificant details that we just have to suspend our disbelief about - and the inner workings of BP’s kinetic energy suit is included in that category for me.
@sweettacular98996 жыл бұрын
Jona I meant that the (ostensibly) magical beings who form the basis of Norse mythological Gods do literally exist in the MCU. Whether or not they’re actual gods is more of a semantic, definitional issue; Odin says they aren’t, but there’s a bit of a grey area there as to what exactly constitutes “a God” (vs the singular God) to the MCU humans. The underlying point is that the MCU hosts all sorts of absurdities and logical impossibilities that don’t even attempt to correspond to our reality - so to single out certain (relatively) insignificant details for a realism test is disingenuous and self-defeating.
@King-Brando6 жыл бұрын
My point exactly. They don't bother to explain how vibranium works because I'm fairly certain they themselves didn't know and just hoped that we wouldn't care. In the comics, it's just a really bullet proof metal, in the MCU, it literally does anything the plot needs it to. Sure they don't explain every other piece of tech, but for the most part it's easy to understand. Especially since it all (mostly) seems to consist of more than just vibrainium, unlike the suit.

I remember when this movie came out, everyone was just drooling over it, talking about how great and how awesome it was. I watched it, and mostly rolled my eyes through it. It was a bad movie made for one purpose and one purpose only: so the MCU didn't get labelled as racist against black people. I guess the MCU doesn't mind being racist against white people, but you know... Hollywood. So much of this movie didn't make any sense, I just couldn't enjoy it at all. MauLer spotted some things that I didn't, but mostly I was eye-rolling for the same reasons he lists here.

@@palladiamorsdeus Especially with the ability Shuri gave it to "absorb and release kinetic energy" One, why isn't this technology standard-issue for their soldiers? At least in Captain America they specifically state they didn't have any more Vibranium to make more shields. And two, why do the Black Panther powers matter at all when his suit is so overpowered? And I feel like the filmmakers were aware of that, because he is barely in his suit in the movie at all, and even when fighting Killmonger, the kinetic energy ability doesn't come into play (as far as I remember)
