From holding on to the clothes of the funeral, to a friend saying that "I am no longer a child because I have lost so much", I can't count the literal similarities that was just thrown at me in those 160 minutes. Prince T'Challa was a perfect compromise between the "Don't recast to respect Chadwick's passing" and the "Don't make the character of T'Challa die with him" arguments. Chadwick was allowed to be laid to rest, but we will still have a T'Challa to carry on. Now, I'm just hoping there's a little Storm out there about the same age so we can eventually see that relationship from the comics.

Love how you got the audience reactions afterwards. It really adds to a movie/cinema experience overall. I still have the audio file of my audience going crazy at One Piece Film Red from just last week, and man, the experience is just something else. Everyone in the room was going crazy, and afterwards everyone left with a big smile on their face. That just lets you know you were watching the movie with the right crowd. It heightens the experience. You getting those reactions demonstrate that 👍 I also wanna add that even though I have no real intention of watching this movie, I have only the utmost respect for the crew working on this film, Ryan Coogler, and all the effort they put into the film. They were dealt the worst possible hands in terms of production, and I can only imagine what they all felt working on this movie without their main star. It’s no easy task, and while I myself won’t be able to determine whether or not their efforts paid off and made for a good film, what I can say is I respect their persistence and efforts to make the film given all the circumstances. To most, it seems the efforts were well paid off. And ofc, RIP the real king of Wakanda, Chadwick Boseman

So I saw it last night and I loved it!!! I left feeling all of these heavy emotions and it helped me process that Chadwick may be gone-but the Black Panther will always carry on! spoilers: Namor is such an absolute BADASS man! I’m so glad they didn’t kill him off so he can come back for FF down the line! He oozed that POS energy with so much charisma I couldn’t help but respect him! Changing his origin (as well as giving his name more meaning) was GREAT!! Loved Letitia as an angry and resentful Shuri (especially her scene with Killmonger)! M’Baku and Ross are always great! So are Queen Ramonda, Okoye, and Nakia! I HATED Riri in the comics (yes I read them, I just didn’t connect) but she’s AWESOME here!! Love her snark and she was an absolute joy (love her suit design too)! Having T’Challa’s son in the end made me cry. I was hoping they’d call him Azari but that’s okay (I get why they couldn’t really- I just love the “Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow”)

This film for me just felt hollow. I know lots of other people felt all the emotions from the film, and I'm so happy they did. I just got too focused on the plot holes and narrative discrepancies that the emotional scenes didn't quite stick. I felt Queen Ramonda, Nakia, okieya, M'bacu, and Namor were the best characters on screen. However, with the actions of Wakanda and the surviving royalty, I actually had a hard time seeing Namor as a villain outside of wanting to kill everyone on land, with his "you fight with us or die against us" mentality. Every other action he was mich more justified in than the Wakandans. They took shuri because she asked to, and then Wakanda killed two of Namor's people under the flag of truce (a war crime). Justifiably Namor retaliated, and could have ended Wakanda or at least killed shuri and other leadership to destabilize them if he wanted and was the villain, like Killmonger who wanted to topple the Wakandan government. Namor allowed them time to mourn and prepare to join his people or die. Also, still not a fan of the racist lines against whites in the film, nor the bullying done by the good guys in the film. Still, the movie is a 6.5-7/10 for me

I give the movie a 6/10,overall pretty generic plot and I wasn’t really a fan of shuri becoming black panther, but they couldn’t have done it any different.Overall the movie was way to long,a lot of the scenes were pretty useless and didn’t have to be in the movie.Namor was a great character and ironheart was a pretty fine character too.But the suit looked absolutely horrible of ironheart.Okoye (I think it is pronounced like that) had a forgettable plotline and the suit that shuri gave her didn’t fit to her at.The same goes to M’baku, who had like 10 lines in the movie. And I could count a lot more but the most useless and forgettable story line was the one of Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) who actually didn’t have any use in the movie,if they would have cut that out of the movie it wouldn’t make a difference The acting performances were actually pretty good and I could tell that they really put a lot of effort in their performances. If Chadwick hadn’t sadly passed away, the movie could have been a lot better, with a better plot, but sadly tragedy struck. To be honest I think they would have been better off to recast T‘challa.

I think one of the few complaints I have about this movie is the pacing. I felt that for what we got it was too long, but at the same time I think it could’ve been almost an hour longer to fully show every aspect of the story. Overall 8.5/10. Great performances from everyone, but obviously Angela Basset was incredible. Namor was awesome, hoping he has a return just as good as his first appearance. The directing was flawless, but like the one dude said, I highly doubt I’ll be rewatching this one soon. I was in tears within the first five minutes and I think throughout the rest of the movie I didn’t actually have a genuine smile of happiness on my face until the post credit scene. I did love this film a lot. I do certainly think that the script and the movie is a bit too messy to be amongst the top MCU movies, mostly because of the movie being 10-20 minutes too long, everything about Ross and Val felt like set-up for upcoming projects, and the third act was lackluster, even if it was better than the one in the original one. But i still can't stop thinking about it. What really makes the movie stand-out is the characters, because even if the plot at times hits some familiar beats, the characters really make the movie super endearing. Every character had their own mini-arc, and the mid-credits scene, even if the reveal was little contrived, was quite beautiful

It’s understood that Shuri doesn’t want to rule Wakanda. They are setting up for a ruler of Wakanda being a different person than the Black Panther. This would make Wakanda stronger honestly. @runbaa92852 жыл бұрын
Honestly, my only real gripe with the film is that Shuri's character arc is pretty much a retread of T'challa's character arc from Captain America Civil War. I mean, it makes sense that she's learning the same lessons he did, but in the grand scheme of things, it can feel redundant. Still, they executed it really well considering the situation. The movie was a tad bit too long too. Some scenes were just there to set up The Thunderbolts and could've been moved to a post-credit scene or simply cut for another time. I also like Riri MUCH more than her comic counterpart. However, for most of the runtime, Riri feels more like a plot device than a character, so I hope that's something they can expand upon in the future. Overall, I'd probably put it at in top 5 of Phase 4 (which isn't saying much, but still) with No Way Home, Shang Chi, Wakanda Forever, Werewolf by Night, and WandaVision in order. For me, the highs of No Way Home and Shang Chi are just really, really high, but I also really appreciate the tone Wakanda Forever went for. Some levity here and there, but not so much it undermines or compromises the overall tone of the story (looking at you, Love and Thunder...)

Audience reactions: I've never been in a cinema so quiet before ever the only time I heard any noise outside of the movie was a laugh at a joke very rarely because there were so few jokes other than that silence. I'm not sure of what others thought of it from my screening but my friends who have seen it all really enjoyed it General Thoughts: I have never been taken on such an emotional rollercoaster in a movie, when I left I was at a loss for words and very deep in Thought I couldn't stop thinking about it all night it was all still sinking in. Its something that you need to see for yourself to truly understand how good it is and in cinemas is the best way to do so Death of T'Challa: This caught me off guard with the opening. We all knew that tragically T'Challa would've died because tragically we lost Chadwick, but what I didn't expect was us to see the death. I'm not sure how I expected them to handle this but that really surprised me. They handled this all really well though. Having the Marvel intro be of just Chadwick was a moving tribute too I was so close to crying as soon as I saw that The World Wants Vibranium: This set the stage perfectly for the rest of the movie, showing how vulnerable Wakanda is especially now that they don't have a Black Panther Enter Namor: OK so to answer your question about whether they're allies or enemies. I'd say neither not yet at least. Although, in later movies we will see this more. Queen Ramonda and Shuris talk... man that was like you ripped my heart out it was so painful to watch but is probably one of my favourite scenes in the movie (I don't know what my favourite is there's so many I want to say.) Which I love even more after the ending but I'll get to that when we reach the ending. Namors intro was so cool too straight off the bat he's shown to be such a huge threat and the way he changes just like that. Wow just wow Ironheart: I had a lot of fun watching IronHeart and this makes me even more excited for her series! While I wish she had more of a role in the story I'm fine with her not as this is an introduction to her and she served her purpose in this movie. I really enjoyed Shuri and RiRis scenes too they were all great I hope we see more of them! Okoye being stripped of her rank too omg that was really unexpected Namors Backstory: This story oh my god... that was painful to watch. It was a little too much exposition at once throughout this entire part though not just in the backstory. CIA: Definitely the worst part of the movie they took me out of the experience a lot if anything had to be cut it should be them. Although, side note I don't think anything could be really added or removed from this movie. It's just a case of if anything HAD to be they should be Namors Revenge: I know I said Queen Ramonda and Shuris chat is my favourite scene but, this one is another favourite. Although it's technically a sequence so... favourite sequence of the movie. The cinematography in this was so good I felt like I was there experiencing this attack on Wakanda, not knowing what to do. At one point I even tensed up in it it felt so real I was tensing up waiting for the water because I felt like I was there. That is top tier cinematography! Queen Ramondas death too... I had a feeling this was coming after I saw theories then the entire way throughout I had a gut feeling. This couldn't prepare me though once again it felt as though my heart was ripped out seeing that. Especially, with just how cold Namor was after this that mood change of him once again hit hard Shuris Preparation: When watching this I was hoping Shuri would see Queen Ramonda but honestly I'm glad it was Killmonger that's so much better storytelling that shows just how much of a dark place Shuris in and drives the plot really well Final Battle: Chills absolute chills! That's all I can say. I was really surprised at just how far this went especially with burning Namor that much. I'm glad Shuri didn't end up killing Namor though I was hoping he'd be in more projects so this means he may be now The epilogue: I'm glad I'm not the only one who was confused by that M'Baku scene I hope that's explained in a future project as that's so confusing. As teased in the Enter Namor section I'll finally talk about this. Closing off the movie with Shuri doing the ritual was so powerful and the perfect way to end this movie I think it truly brought a tear to my eye especially when it cut to silence and clips of T'Challa were playing so we could sink it in before the credits rolled. Mid-Credit scene: Having the reveal of T'Challa having a son oh my gosh that had me in tears what a beautiful note to end the movie on Conclusion: Honestly, I'm glad we didn't get a second post-credit scene this worked so much better with just the one. Overall this movie is a solid 9/10 one of my favourite MCU movies

Personally, I give the movie a 6/10. That’s not to say it’s bad, my scaling might just be a bit more critical since 9 or 10s would be like Forest Gump or Everything Everywhere All At Once. This movie didn’t live up to what I was hoping it’d be. The pacing was off and really dragged on towards the middle. I even almost dozed off at a certain point. Visuals were great, acting was fantastic, and the villain was memorable enough. I’ve been wanting live action Namor for years, and I loved seeing him in action, but tbh I felt they could’ve made him way more intimidating. Backstory was also a little whimsy tbh. Riri was a pleasant surprise. By far, she was what I was least looking forward to, but she was surprisingly pleasant to watch when first introduced. She got pretty stale towards the end, but still better than expected. Overall tho, my biggest gripe is that this movie just didn’t feel as emotional or personal as it should’ve. Like it took itself seriously, but I just didn’t find myself feeling the way the movie was telling me to feel. I felt weirdly detached from it, more so than most MCU movies I’ve watched, which is really odd since I went into it expecting to have a really emotional, heartfelt, and personal experience.

I don’t know why people were wondering who would be the new black panther. I immediately knew it was shuri. Anyone else would not make sense.

I think the scene at the end with M’baku implied Shuri told him to take the thrown I believe he says something like “ Princess Shuri sends her regards” It makes sense cause I don’t get the impression Shuri wants to rule and she trusts M’baku.

I enjoyed the movie, it was a wonderful tribute to Chadwick Boseman. However, as a movie in general, it felt like it had the Furious 7 problem, where the major actor died before filming ended, so the villain was underdeveloped, the story itself felt clunky and too thin on how it’s put together, I just see a lot of potential in the movie not being reached. But for the last minute stuff they did, I was really impressed and I’m really glad Chadwick Boseman is being honored, it’s a shame he had to go so soon.💔

Yeah i think Shuri and M’Baku talked before the epilogue and the implication is she’ll be Black Panther and he’ll be King

At the end with M'Baku, the way I saw it was that he would become King and Shuri would remain as Black Panther. In Civil War we see that both titles don't need to be held by the same person.

I just got done watching the movie. I enjoyed it. It was pretty fun. If I rank all the MCU movies it'll go in the top half. I do think, though, it would've been better as a Namor movie rather than a Black Panther sequel. I mean, we have a Black Panther movie and Shuri as BP didn't show up until the last half hour. Making it a Namor movie, hardly anything would've needed to be changed and we could've spent more time with him and developed the character even more than they did. This movie was definitely more about him than about the Black Panther. Then they could've introduced Shuri as BP near the end and set up a future Black Panther movie with her in the role. If it was a Namor movie, I'd likely rank it higher on my MCU list. I agree that the movie ran a bit long and slow in the middle. The vast was absolutely phenomenal. All the returning characters were wonderful to see on screen again. M'Baku shined as usual. I love him in the MCU. For me, he's like Wong. Whenever he's on screen, I'm can't help but enjoy his character. I can't wait to see where they take him in future films. The new characters like Namor and Ironheart were fantastic. And I loved the Midnight Angels outfits. I like how they were pretty accurate to Namor's personality in the comic books. What I'm curious about is if they'll have his MCU character also have bipolar disorder like Namor in the comics. They hinted at it with his bouncing back and forth between his quick mood changes. It'd be nice to have MCU representation of a character with mental health issues. The tributes to Boseman at the beginning and end were very touching. Overall, a good movie. Not great but they did a wonderful job with the hand dealt them.

Hey Sean! Great review m. I believe the implication is that Shuri didn’t want the throne and supported M’Baku to be the king. It kind of makes sense in the way that we saw him being more or less the wisest person in the movie.

idk why but i really liked how the big talikan warrior guy fights okoye and even tho he was toying with her knowing she can't win, it makes me think of dinobot from beast wars where he has a fighting sense of honor and giving a fair chance to kill brutally in battle instead of while shes defenseless also one thing i noticed was that namor had the crazy eyes lol

Given the circumstances, it's a good movie but that's the problem it should've been a great film and it has moments of it. Letitia Wright is not a lead she's a supporting actor or someone who could lead a small drama, not a major franchise. Winston Duke as M'Baku is the only returning cast member that was great to see and I wish he was in it more. Angela Bassett's performance is overhyped. It's comparable to RDJ in Endgame it's excellent for a comic book movie but compared to their best work it's a shrug. Which says more about the low standards that audiences and critics expect from MCU films. When this film is a Ryan Coogler film it is excellent but when adding the scenes to connect it to the MCU it is jarring. Coogler is an example of what true auteur filmmakers have to deal with now with franchise films. Chris Nolan was the last filmmaker to take a comic book property and truly make it his own film with no need to have ties to it. Had Coogler been around 15 years earlier his Black Panther films would be a singular artistic vision and not a vision that also needs to be part of a larger corporate narrative,

If you enjoyed watching Black Panther: -struggle with believing in the spiritual aspects of their heritage and question the existence of their guardian deity -overcome grief and anger by choosing a less destructive path that doesn't expose their people to great danger -afterward discovering their predecessor kept a pretty significant secret hidden away for years Then chances are you'll enjoy the sequel to Black Panther because they do all of that AGAIN this time with everyone's favourite memeing scientist Princess Shuri of Wakanda in the titular role. Good job Ryan, Nate and Kevin... same time next year? Jokes aside, that's not really a bad thing. Even in the comics T'Challa and his sister are not all that different at least until Shuri undergoes a sort of metamorphosis in the afterlife. They only SEEM different because whenever we've seen the two interacting they are at different stages in their lives... which as an elder sibling myself I can relate to. My favourite T'Challa/Shuri moment is when Shuri runs over one of Klaue's goons and T'Challa's first instinct is to preserve her innocence and waves it off as her "doing great!". I can imagine T'Challa in all their scenes together musing internally like "yep, I was just like you at that age"

@1:00:40 I wish we would have gotten to see a more tangible concession for Namor to have to take to Wakanda since Shuri spared his life. I didn't like how at the end Namor seemed like he was just as powerful as before and could still be seen as a threat to Wakanda. I wish there would have been a scene where more of a consequence was given to Namor and Taloken

I was holding out hope for this movie. I was hoping maybe Marvel would deliver that goodness from the Infinity Saga. I think this movie has solidified in my mind that the MCU has lost its way. I don’t think the movie was necessarily bad, I gave it a 6/10 but it really was pretty disappointing. Too long, Shuri was not that good or interesting of a character, the third act is underwhelming, some characters were just useless like M’Baku, if there are some positive things I can say it’s that Angela Bassett was great and Namor was pretty good also and of course the tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Overall though, it was a disappointment. RIP King you will be missed

@@user-to6fy9of9e as someone who is heavy anti-woke, I actually think you’re right. I thought this movie was just ok, I saw it last night. It looks great on the big screen with the DTS X surround sound at my local theater which I think is the best way to watch these MCU movies, a 4K tv at home just doesn't cut it. It's like arcade compared to Super Nintendo lol, that why I think theaters should stick around and not go away. I agree with the little girl at the start, the movie is way too damn long, and they could've shaved off 20 minutes which would've helped the pacing and make it seem more action packed than it actually is. The final battle felt anticlimactic, like they were just saving this villain for another movie and not giving the film any definitive closure, I'm not a fan of that. I know MCU movies are basically kinda like "to be continued" serials like the comic books are but movies are a very different thing, it worked for Avengers 3-4 because that was meant to be a two-part story but something like this kinda needs a better ending. The villain "surrendering" was just lame and a total cop out. The movie could've used a few more drawn-out fight scenes as well but that's just me. The movie does have some nice visuals here, the underwater society was pretty great.... let's see a movie just about that! All and all, this movie was ok but not the best and it's a bit overhyped. I do like that they chose to do something different here instead of just recasting the original Black Panther and just did their own thing, I'll give it that.
