Black River Flooding in Harrells, North Carolina
The storm is over for most people, but the threat is still rising at Mossy Log in Harrells. Water is currently over 21 feet. Locals to the area have taken bets on what they believe the water with rise to, ranging from 22-25 feet.
Most property owners have cleared off their land to protect belongings from the rising waters. While some on higher land around the river have stayed put, hoping the water doesn't reach them.
It's not the storm that worries locals around the river, it's the days to come after. The river doesn't crest until days after the storm, and you never know how high the water will get after a heavy rainfall like the band tropical storm Debby carried through.
It was nice to be able to capture some drone footage to document the flooding after the storm. My family owns property in the area, so we were able to walk around and assess the land. Only time will tell the damage this storm will do to those along black river.
The larger section of water is the river. The smaller path of water is the road into Mossy Log
