Yes, ithis is the original lineup. It was a one time reunion, as Dio was the lead singer in the band then and Bill Ward wasn't in the band either. They said Featuring Ozzy as he wasn't a member of the band then and was a solo artist.

They said featuring Ozzy Osborne Beacause this was a one time reunion as Ozzy was no longer in the band at that time. Ozzy was more of a star than Sabbath was in 1985 (actually the only remaining member of Sabbath was Toni Iomi)but the reunion was a HUGE deal.

Iommi would go on to make the "Seventh Star" album (which was to have been his solo album, hence the "Black Sabbath featuring Toni Iommi" artist credit) with Glenn Hughes on vocals. That album, along with "Born Again", have not been released on CD by Warner Bros. in the US, but can be found/obtained via other means (import CDs, iTunes, etc.), which is a shame as "Born Again" was not a bad album (IMHO). A shame that Live Aid was trying to advertise it during this performance (a non-Ozzy album).

@@joeshlong9614 Well it's Tony's band after all. He was the leader and Ozzy knew that. It wasn't until Ozzy got kicked out that he really established his own iconic personality. All throughout the 70's Ozzy had this slight sense of insecurity about him. Tony would even throw Ozzy to the left of the stage instead of the middle like most frontmen. But here Ozzy is badass, confident, and more commanding for the first time him and Tony seem like peers on the stage. They all seem like they enjoyed the brief reunion here though.

LET'S GET 1 THING STRAIGHT FOLKS !! THE ONLY BLACK SABBATH IS THE ORIGINAL 4 !! TONY IS BUT 1/4 OF SABBATH !! IT TOOK THESE 4 TO CREATE & BE BLACK SABBATH & WILL REMAIN THAT WAY !! ANYTHING OUTSIDE OF OZZY IS TONY IOMMI & FRIENDS . WHICH IN EACH OF THEIR OWN WAS ALSO GOOD . BUT ONLY 1 & ONLY SABBATH IS THE ORIGINAL 4 !!!

@VicRattlehead6661 Well, Ozzy wasn't in Black Sabbath in 1985, actually the band hardly exsisted in 1985. After 1984, when Ian Gillan and Geezer left the band, only Iommi remained and worked on what was really to become a Tony Iommi solo record, but was released as 'Seventh Star', under the "Black Sabbath feat. Tony Iommi" banner, w. Glenn Hughes on vocals.

i think they said featueing ozzy also because he asnt in the band, not because he had a solo career and such, its just proves (in my eyes:P) that ozzy is a great frontman, i dont think they had any bad singers but ozzy is the right guy in sabbath i think, hes frickin amazing so are the whole band!!!!

To add on to what's been said earlier.... Sabbath was in shambles at this point. Ian Gillan had left the group to do the Deep Purple reunion tour, Tony Iommi was fighting with the record company (Warner Bros. I think?) to put out a solo album, and Ozzy was riding high (in more ways than one) his solo career. Iommi wanted Ozzy back in the band, but he refused to continue on his solo career (according to the CD booklet for the "Born Again" import remaster)... (Continued)

@Dannymusic1999 Ultimate Sin (1986) came one year after the event (1985). By the way, anyone else thinking the direction sucks big time! I mean, during the solo they're showing Geezer and Bill, which they had absolutely forgotten during the rest of the performance!!!

Listen to the (more pertinent than ever) lyrics to this song. Black Sabbath were geniuses of expression...war & killing/greed are products of the devil... Venom & Slayer were not the logical consequence to the musical ground laid by Black Sabbath...they were merely picking up on the sensationalistic aspects put on Black Sabbath. Stryper has more in common with Black Sabbath, truth be told...any band that believes in trying to love your fellow man, instead of competing with & hating him.

I hate mtv, when this was live I watched it and had my vcr set, they said Sabbath is next then started commercials. It seemed like commercials went on and on then a repeat of a mountain dew ad. When Nina Blackwood and Mark Goodman came back they quickly said Black Sabbath is on stage now. Then we saw the end of Children of the Grave, Iron man and paranoid. I never knew for many years that the first 3:30 was not played on mtv with the chevey chase intro. I'll never forgive them.
