I've never seen Rob nervous before , that was pretty interesting. I also like how he didn't try to make the show about him and tried to sing like Ozzy. You never really know how good Ozzy is until you try to sing his songs. The sound tech should have gave Rob some Reverb

Listen around 0:40. The crowd started booing cause Ozzy said Rob Halford is taking his place that night from being sick. Now thats terrible for someone who's just as amazing as Ozzy himself barely getting any love from the crowd. I would just leave stage saying, "F*ck this." Cause i think cover singers get so much hate and some are really good!

Well the guitars aren't as good as they usually are. I mean this reminds me of recordings I made an of myself 10 years ago. Out of tune as a deaf cat. Makes it hard for halford to be in key when the instruments aren't in key. Later on the video the guitars sound better the same goes for Rob.

I am SO glad this exists and that the BEST metal vocalist ever filled in for the BEST metal band for a brief moment. But god dAMN do I hate soundboard recordings! It's always a let down. Bands need to exist in the space they're playing in!. The vocals need to be drenched in the same atmosphere the instruments and drums are enveloped in. Just my opinion. Check out Sabbath in the "Beat Club" videos. BEST live sound of Sabbath ever. A huge band in a huge room. Its just right.

Considering the songs were written with Ozzy's voice in mind, what's your point? You could pretty much make this argument for anyone singing someone else's songs. And again, what would your point be? I used to play in a Sabbath tribute band years ago and he does a better song that our singer did with these because it's hard to match Ozzy's vocal dynamics and Halford's a pro. BTW: You know what would be more uncomfortable to watch? You singing these songs...guaranteed

Rob just replaced Ozzy for this concert because Ozzy was not able to perform 😵🥴 It's in Tony Iommi's book Rob also had a Judas Priest concert before Black Sabbath. A real legend

toni iommi just simply the greatest ever to pick up a guitar in metal. AND before people start saying technical players like satriani morse or whoever. what master piece riffs did they create just like acdc some simple riffs but u have to be genius to think off them smoke on water another good example. blackmore wrote great stuff aswell but never played his songs or solos the same live that's one thing I hate. if you write classic solos why go out and play rubbish that doesn't even blend into the song I think if morse used a strat would be better he sticks more to the studio versions than blackmore ever did live. And this doodling between Gillin and richie doodly doo Back and forth for five mins I couldn't stand that shite. sabbath play the same live as studio versions.

I agree with you, and people forget that Tony Iommi was also a memeber of Jethro Tull for a bit before Sabbath got big. He learned a lot from that band as well and if you listen to a lot of sabbaths early material you can definately hear Iommis blues influences. Also, he has parts of his fingers missing, but he was still able to make it work in the end. To any young guitarist who thinks Tony Iommi is overrated, my response usually is "Try cutting 2 or more of your fingertips off and then try to play guitar after that and let me know how it goes for you." The only greater guitarist I can think of who had wrecked or missing fingers who can play better is Djanjo Reindhart, and he was one of Tony's influences as well. He lost or burned some of his fingers in a house fire I beleive.

Those type of people just don't get music, technicallity does not make a song great, the simplicity is what makes it so brilliant.

Rob halford replaced in 1992 Ronnie James dio when black sabbath was the opening act for ozzy Osbourne tour and dio didn't like the idea so he left, rob sang better the songs of ozzy than the songs of dio on those dates, so he is better as a replacement to ozzy than to dio, tony iommi, geezer butler and bill ward are simply amazing musicians, their music is full of energies and groove, black sabbath is the best, greatest and most amazing metal band in history

possibile che non avessero provato neanche 5 minuti per mettersi d'accordo su alzare la tonalità dei pezzi? Le chitarre ribassate in do# si sposano male col registro di Rob, micidiale negli acuti ma poco potente nei bassi.

crazy world - in 2004 was Bill drumming for Sabbath or was it Vinnie Appice? Thought it was Vinnie...
@toddvandell85
@toddvandell85 6 жыл бұрын
crazy world - I stand corrected. That is indeed Bill. Has he always played double kick? I do not recall Bill playing double kick drums when I saw them in Anaheim in the 70s before Ozzy split for his solo career. (Sammy Hagar, Van Halen, Sabbath, and Boston all on the same show at Angel Stadium. The show where supposedly Van Halen jumped out of that airplane right before they ran onstage. That show.) I know Vinnie only ever plays one kick because his big brother Carmine plays double kick. Okay. Also seems like they're playing in a lower key for Rob's sake? Songs sound a little different in the lower key. They seem to be playing some of their less famous, slightly more obscure songs, too. Into The Void? Really? Don't recall that being one of Ozzy's bigger hits.

toddvandell85 - Don't know about the double bass drum bit but i do know that by this point in time Ozzy's solo band had already been playing everything in a lower tuning (started around '91-'92 i believe) to adjust for his voice, so when he rejoined Sabbath for the reunion tour in '97 or so they started "down tuning" as well. They also started playing "Into The Void" again around that time as well as other songs they hadn't played in years.

CyberDreams I noticed the down-tuning for Ozzy too. Thought my mind was playing tricks. Saw an interview with Sammy Hagar and Eddie Trunk here recently. He talked about getting into the D-tuning or tuning down thing. He said they started doing that a few years back and it not only saved his voice but he can sing all night in the lower pitch or lower key now and not risk vocal cord damage. Not so uncommon anymore it would seem. I think even Rush was drop-tuning for the sake of Geddy's voice. The groups we grew up with are getting older. Can't exactly swap out your vocal cords for a new set like you can with strings, picks, sticks, and drumheads. Sadly. That would be an interesting medical development: vocal cord transplants...hm. Or maybe more simply, why not just AutoTune yourself up to the correct pitch? Don't know that it would have to have that over-modulated computerized sound to it so many in Rap circles are doing. Even Usher's jumped on the AutoTune bandwagon. He never needed the help before but it's so commonplace now. It might even obviate or eliminate the need for lip syncing to one's own pre-recorded music track as so many singers seem to be doing now also. Oh wait. I know. Go back and dig up old footage of yourself singing in the higher key and just make a hologram out of that. Then you'll never truly die, and your voice will always be perfect. And, imagine: you could retire or die and the group could carry on as though you're still there...because you would be. Follow the Wendy Dio business model. ;-)

Are you stupid? Of course you are. Halford is an overrated piece of shit, his voice a tune that shuts, does not reach the tones, and in synthesis a real shit overrated for pussie fanboys.
