Great reaction! This album, Master of Reality came out in 1971. The music was by the creative genius Tony iommi (lead Guitar) and he lyrics were by the great bass player, Geezer Butler. Best songwriting team ever. :)

They lived poor in a hard town. Ozzy did jail for a B&E. Tony lost his fingertips in a cutting machine and capped them with thimbles. They were inspired by Horror Movies with evil sounding music and their favorite horror movie was Black Sabbath. Their albums are like horror movie reflections on life, aren't they?

Another great song from the same album is INTO THE VOID (I think it's even better than Lord Of This World). Also check out BEHIND THE WALL OF SLEEP. It's another classic Sabbath song. The drums from that song have been sampled on several hiphop songs in the past.

I'd like to enthusiastically second this motion. That slow, ominous, bluesy groove at the opening and one of the meanest riffs in rock history... Into The Void is FIRE!!!

Sadly bro, they really didn't know what they had. They where not managed, promoted or sold right. They labels and promoters back then (1971 for this record) where to afraid of controversy to market this band in the main stream market. That is why folks in our years like you brother are just now hearing it. These guys where woke before anyone else where ready to be woke!

Geezer wrote the lyrics. Amazing lyrics BTW! It's easy to attribute the sentiment to Ozzy since its his voice you hear saying the words but Geezer was the 'pay no attention to the man behind the curtain'. He came up with the name Black Sabbath, the concept and I believe he is the Architect of what Sabbath fundamentally was. It's amusing because everyone always thinks of Tony as the leader. And Ozzy is such a colourful personality he draws most of the attention. Bill & Geezer were the foundation though. Bill's drumming was so epic and cinematic, his backbeats and fills. Cowbell like on this song. And Geezer's bass is a complimentary lead instrument to Tony's crushing riffs. His basslines weave in & around the guitar, doubling it for emphasis, but usually doing his own thing. These four brummies were so complimentary to each other's styles its amazing cuz it's not like they went to Juliard. Just 4 dudes from an industrial town in England. But Sabbath is more than the sum of its parts. I loved Sabbath since discovering them at about 14. They seemed dark & gritty & REAL! It was the early-mid 80's and no other band had mustaches & beards at the time... they were all glittery pretty-boys. Sabbath were MEN. They weren't playing bubble-gum pop to get girls. They knew the TRUTH and would pass on that wisdom if you listened carefully.

One of my favorite songs on that album. "Master of Reality" Album! We went hard down south in B'ham Al. At that time in the 70s. We were some rocking brothers down there. I had every one of their albums they made when Ozzie was their frontman. Great times! Sabbath was very misunderstood until you listen to their lyrics... Real music rocking💯🔥. Music never die!!!✌️
@johnnytuttleii32422 жыл бұрын
They got that nightmare on elm street when you were 6 kinda sound goin on. 😆 They said a movie theatre was showing two movies, one horror and the other a pg rated movie or something. The horror movie sold out while the other had low attendance. It gave them the idea that scary $h!t sells better. So they went to the darkside image wise but ozzy slid a couple songs in on each album that let you know he chose the light. After Forever - IS YOUR MIND SO SMALL THAT YOU HAVE TO FALL IN WITH THE PACK WHEREVER THEY RUN, THEY SHOULD REALIZE BEFORE THEY CRITICIZE THAT GOD IS THE ONLY WAY TO LOVE ☝️😛👍 Under the Sun is a grungy rocker with lyrics for an over-reaching controlling government spying on everyone of their citizens .. "Behind each flower there grows a weed in their world of make believe" basically, they KNOW you have a secret, and they will watch everything you do till they find it. Our gov is the sickest its ever been and its gettin worse. We could be seein some wild stuff soon. What to believe, what we see or hear? I'm not sure i can honestly tell the difference anymore. Im gonna have to go by the feeling in my heart.

Geezer Butler is a story writer while Ozzy is the story teller. All of Sabbath's songs have real-life and/or current events of the time in the lyrics.
