Every song off of Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules is a gem. It’s musically light years ahead of anything they did before and after IMHO. Ronnie Dio made everyone he played with better. He was a musician first, songwriter second and finally vocalist last. Think about that... vocalist last. Incredible. His extensive background (22 years of recording prior to joining Sabbath) playing, writing and singing in literally every genre of music you can think of is the reason he stands head and shoulders above everyone else. He was able to incorporate melody into heavy metal more often and better than anyone has ever done or will ever do.. Listen to Wishing Well of Heaven and Hell for a perfect example of this. A heavy metal song about love, wishing wells, rainbows, falling stars, dreams and smiles. The man was a genius in his chosen field and should be remembered as one.

Suicide has been my enemy for so long. I have tried to kill myself, and failed. Thank you Lord for bringing people in life to save others. My mother found me hanging unconscious, and my father revived me. For this I was outcasted at my high school, leaving me with only one friend. Ultimately the Lord blessed me with a family in my adult hood. Even so I struggle daily to even get through the hour. But the Lord gives, he truly does. Prayers are always appreciated, don't leave anyone alone. Talk with them, and answer even the hardest questions.

Many, many years ago me and my best friend went to war. As we were getting ready he tells me that he’s scared, and I tell him “Me too, but we make it through this it’ll all be gravy from here on out.” We’ve been close to this day, and some years back he was going through some stuff and he told me “hey bro you told me it’ll all be gravy!” Being a totally useless friend I replied “it absolutely is, but I never said the gravy would always be warm!” Obviously he forgave me for being useless, as we’re still tight to this day! 😂 Life is good, even when it ain’t.🤘🏻

Totally agree...! This song have 2 long guitar solo, both simply perfects and awesome. Iommi he surpassed himself. This song is truly a work of art: epic, heroic, sentimental, heartbreaking and elegant... magnificent! Ah... please don't forget to Vinny Appice, he did his best work on this record. Brutally forceful, elegant, sober, ultra-heavy, spectacular and very well filling in the gaps, the best drummer in my opinion. Gezzer goes without saying that he is a legendary and great bass player. What a great grouping! the best!

This song completes the emotion of regret. Dio's voice is full of the sadness, powerlessness and pain of regret, and Iommi's solo also expresses regret's associative anger and frustration. It's one of Iommi's top ten solos, maybe top five. My favorite line: "Too many flames with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." The album track listing for the last three songs on Mob Rules is kind of brilliant as well: Slipping Away - Falling Off the Edge of the World - Over and Over. Right up there with Pink Floyd's sequence from the Wall: Hey You - Is There Anybody Out There? - Nobody Home.

And this is why Vin and Sori are the best KZbin channel. Good people giving their thoughts and prayers out to people who are grieving or having some sort of personal issues. When going through some sort of depression its always good to talk to someone about it. It helps release some of the pain inside. Cry it out. I say this because i build up my depression to the point where i'm close to losing myself. I'm always working on getting better but it helps when i try to cheer up others when they need it. Sometimes i dont know what to say because i'm more of a listener than a talker but i try to be there for them when they need me.

Falling off the Edge of the World and Over and Over, were intended to be played as a unit, just as they are arranged on the original album. In order to fully appreciate this masterpiece set of heavy rock perfection, you must listen them, in the order in which they were originally arranged. Better yet, start with side one of MOB RULES, and listen to the album in its entirety. F.O.T.E.O.T.W. and O&O, are essentially the crescendo of this masterpiece of METAL. I personally believe this collection is unsurpassed among musical recordings, of any genre, and it will remain in this position of superiority beyond the end of time.

Im new to your reaction videos but have really like what Im hearing thus far! Especially when it comes to your reactions to any material involving Dio!!! I am curious about one particular song, and I don't mean to dredge up any raw emotions or past sorrows, but I am curious to see what situation is being referred to during "Over and Over", from the Mob Rules masterpiece. If it's relates to something very personal (in "your own backyard" per se) I fully understand and will back off and leave that alone. At times, it sounds like it could be associated with one of the all too often mass shootings. Seems like whatever it was left a heavy weight of pain and sadness in its wake, so much so that only the ethereal qualities of RJD's mystique, with his powerful blend of angelic opera-like vocals mixed with very intense, heavy, beast like vocals that somehow still maintain a softer melodic quality, which can be very therapeutic when trying to comrehend something so sad snd forever life-changing, and to eventually be able to start to "co-exist" with the situation (I use term co-exist because for some incidents, there will never be a true "acceptance" of it., or any sense of "moving on" from it. Its more a matter of learning to co-exist with it in a way that hopefully can still be healthy and balanced

This is the *HEAVEN AND HELL* band in my book. Great band with 4 killer records plus an EP.

@@pauldaley9626 *Half the band is missing.* Definitely doesnt sound like Sabbath. I dont care that some record executive decided to call these albums Sabbath for financial reasons.

@@integrity101 I hear what you are saying but by that logic no band can have line up changes and still call itself that band? Iron maiden, deep purple, rainbow just to name a few that's had line up changes yet are still called the same

@@pauldaley9626 Ozzy, Iommi, Butler, Ward are a group of muscians that make up the band Black Sabbath. Dio, Iommi, Butler, Appice is not the same group of muscians. *I REFER TO THEM AS THE HEAVEN AND HELL BAND.*

@@beckyleavitt7808 I apologize for being mean. You are correct it is uncalled for. I am sorry. I am clearly frustrated with ur comments as it appears as tho ur not even reading what i wrote...... *Dio, Iommi, Butler, Appice* wrote an album called MOB RULES. Years later, *Dio, Iommi, Butler, & Appice* wrote an album called THE DEVIL YOU KNOW. Heaven & Hell is Dio, Iommi, Butler, Appice. So i consider MOB RULES to be a H & H album. I dont consider everyone in every band to be replaceable. In fact its almost an insult to guys like Ozzy & Bill Ward, for example, to say or imply that whether they are in the band or not is irrelevant. I said "THIS IS THE HEAVEN AND HELL BAND *IN MY BOOK."* i made it clear i love the band *AND* I own all the albums so *OBVIOUSLY* I know what it says on the album cover (Black Sabbath).

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon them. And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine. Et lux perpetua luceat eis. Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei, requiescant in pace. Amen.

my dad always used to tell me, that no matter how many pop/commercial bands there were back in the 80's, none of them could make a power ballad as good as the ones made by top metal bands..... it was an unwritten rule of music

the collections from led zeppelin, deep purple, iron maiden, metallica, tool, new model army etc you could (should) to have at home, but the collection from black sabbath you have to have at home...

When Iommi is at his best - and this possibly is the best - the guitar is speaking to you. The phrasing, the dynamics, the shifts of register and speed. At the same time he gives the impression that you also get from Hendrix, or Neil Young, that there is a greater truth that is beyond perception, and the musician is attempting the impossible, to communicate something that is beyond the power of mere matter to express.
