I've heard Top of the Pops does that (live vocals, all instruments pre-recorded), but if this drum track is pre-recorded (Bill Ward's out-of-sync miming could be an editing problem instead of performance, though it's more likely he just missed the hits), it's not the same track as the record. It's got fewer fills, and the bass hammer-ons are also in different places. The guitar and vocals are likely live.

Bollocks, they re-upload bootlegs. That there still hasn't been a DVD of archive footage in high quality (Paris 1970, Cal Jam 1974, Midnight Special, etc) is a fucking travesty. The version of the Paris show up on the channel is a bootleg VHS copy taped off Yorkshire TV in the 80s, the original film reel is owned by Reeling In The Years.
@toadfan648 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they are missing some good stuff, but my point was basically that at least unlike The Beatles, Sabbath have uploaded all their songs on KZbin to listen to, minus a few good live shows. Much better than when I go to The Beatles channel, and there's like 7 songs uploaded out of like 200+, and anytime their stuff gets uploaded by others, it gets taken down right away, like the music video for I Am The Walrus.

This proves that, by 1970, Black Sabbath was a well-oiled machine. Incredible live version of a classic!

This sounds SOOOOOO much better than the record! These people had no clue they were dancing to one of the greatest metal songs ever written by the greatest metal band of all time. HISTORY!! Without Ozzy or Black Sabbath, Metal wouldnt exist or be what it is today

I'm 61 and remember those days. Man, those kids dancing were stoned and tripping. And 1970, growing your hair long was a battle at home, school and work.
@dannyspelman14683 жыл бұрын
Those kids dancing were paid by the BBC to look funky on camera. Not one of them was tripping unless it was over the beat of a heavy metal song with lyrics they didn't seem to understand.

Say what you will, Ozzy had one of the best voices in rock. Totally unique. Great band.

Ozzy has a great voice that seems to just come naturally. I haven't heard a word about singing lessons or choral experience. I think he just decided to do it one day and that's how it was. Pretty amazing.

The Beatles' Helter Skelter in '68 is being considered early metal, but this 'Paranoid' is levelling it up quite a bit more. Bpm were up and it's just so much more 'whole' in comparison to Helter Skelter. Let's say that Helter Skelter was a nudge in a certain direction and this was the completion of the initiation. It's remarkable that someone came up with Paranoid in 1970. There is hardly any reference before showing the way. I've known this all my life (I was only born in '72), and I have always appreciated this particular song, one never gets tired of it, it provides tons of energy. A short, but hellish burst of it.

How have I never saw this before? I've worked with every video I knew existed 10+years ago. At some point that video of them in a boxing ring popped up. Never knew of this. Noteworthy that they actually played live on that show bc most of the time performers mime to album track. Nice.
@martinhughes25498 ай бұрын
It's a live vocal to a re recorded backing track I understand. The BBC wiped this, but it was sold abroad and was used in the Swiss/German show called "Hits a Go Go ". It came to light when they repeated that show in 2014 on a German Satellite channel.
@shanester18328 ай бұрын
@martinhughes2549 Interesting. Upon 1st listen my impression was the amplifiers weren't at normal capacity, the guitar has the least punch of anything I've heard. I took that as a last minute stipulation for playing to that crowd live. Sounds different than say, the Beat Club where it's sizzling, fingers off the strings = instant microphone feedback. I love this glimpse as there aren't really that many videos. Somebody does a club today and there's 15 cellphone videos.
