Yeah, just a lot of happy coincidences that resulted in the formation of the Metal pioneers! I went to their farewell concert in Brisbane and had a fantastic time. The video guys were unbelievably good. If you watched the big screen behind the band it was like watching a full-on music video! And Black Sabbath themselves were in form and on song. I sat there thinking: What the hell? They're as good as they've ever been!! At least they're going out on a high note. Speaking of high notes . . The guitar and bass were tuned down to C#, to accommodate Ozzy's declining vocal range I suppose. That lower tuning made everything sound magnificently heavy. Ozzy was yelling between songs for the audience to "really go fucking crazy in this next song" . . and all us 60-somethings were in our seats saying, "Yeah, right-o mate".

No matter how much I say "I love you, Sabbath" or "I respect the hell out of you," it'll never be enough - NEVER! Black Sabbath created the metal world that we have the pleasure and the honor to live in. Every goddamn metalhead of today should know who Black Sabbath are and how much they contributed to the music industry overall. For me, they are and always will be the GREATEST METAL BAND OF ALL-TIME! It's sad that they had to disband, but, considering their age, it was the right thing to do. Thank you, Black Sabbath, for all these decades upon decades of music that will forever live in the hearts of all metalheads across the globe. The fact that your greatest single "Paranoid" was the closer for your very last gig together, makes it the perfect ending to a historical day! If only Bill Ward and Ozzy put their differences aside, you could've made this very last day at the office, the most memorable day of your and your fans' lives. R.I.P. Was lucky to get to see them in 1976 in Indianapolis - arrived late and parked right on the side walk in front of the convention center, and didn't care what happened to my truck !!! they were GREAT, and when it was over - went out the door right where my truck was parked ! not only was it still sitting there on the side walk, (NO TICKET EVEN) an Indianapolis police officer stop traffic so I could get out !!! unbelievable - what a night !

Man Im so bummed I never got to see them.. Black Sabbath is one of the most enduring and prolific rock and roll bands of all the genre's history. Their sound doesn't feel old to me, it's a very dark and rebellious sound that speaks to many people worldwide, and influenced SO many bands that followed them. Without Tony Iommi, we would never know the true definition of "heavy"
@221b-l3t2 жыл бұрын
Hands down the best live band. Many bands are about seeing the band live and the experience. Not Black Sabbath. The sound was always perfect, each note carefuly crafted to sound perfect, Tony constantly messing with his amps and volume knobs. One of the few bands where the live albums almost sound better. Loud AF too. And Geezer bass felt like being punched in the chest sometimes.

As someone who listens mostly to black metal, I appreciate very much the heaviness of Sabbath’s music. Sabbath always expressed a dark and foreboding perspective on Christianity, whereas black metal enthusiastically embraces violence, extreme misanthropy, and Satanism. I sometimes think of Sabbath as a safe precursor to black metal, but when I listen to them now, as I did very often many years ago, I appreciate their artistry even more, I think.

Black Sabbath isn't just a band; they're the embodiment of heavy metal. With their raw energy and dark themes, they carved a path for generations of rockers. From "Black Sabbath" to "Iron Man," their music is timeless, a sonic journey through darkness and power. Their influence extends beyond music, symbolizing rebellion and rock 'n' roll spirit. In short, Black Sabbath's legacy is immortal, forever enshrined as the kings of heavy metal.
