FRIENDLY PSA: Israel Hands is truly unique as he is a real historical person who served under Blackbeard and was indeed shot in the face by him - plus Israel Hands also stars in Treasure Island. He is both historical and fictional. Also, Billy. From Billy's point of view hes been the leader of the Nassau Resistance for months while Flint and Silver were amasssing the fleet to attack Nassau, Billy was the man on the ground running things and then to have Flint stroll back in and take charge...after all he's done before....his snap is best shown by the fact he yells "Fire!" When Flint is halfway through a sentence - he's done listening to Flint say some epic speech and convincing him otherwise. Also note Billy's leitmotif - it's noticeably darker than even Vanes or Blackbeard's! I love Billy's character progression throughout this series Also, Eleanor is a fictional character but the Guthrie's were Scottish merchants in Philadelphia and Boston during the time period. Redbeard was a famous pirate who sailed the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean, I think he was about 40 - 50 years before the events of the Pirate Republic in Nassau.

Yeah I also came here to say that Robert Louis Stevenson used the historical Israel Hands in his book most likely to make it more realistic. I just wish the show had introduced him as a member of blackbeard crew who would eventually join Flint to become his gunner.

Yeah the Billy decisions this episode are my least favorite in the show. He had a good argument but didn't use it - there's no way to take Nassau with their current numbers, without massive casualties. How many of Billy's men would die for one of Flint's suicide missions? Flint doesn't give a shit about his men, but Billy cares about his. Madi would've been right defending her people, and Billy would've been right defending his. Maybe words are exchanged before he personally attacks Flint, which makes their men start fighting. Would've been better if it went down like that IMO. Still, it's better after this, this is my only gripe about the season!

Modern American English is closer to the English spoken at this time than what you commonly think of as an "English accent" now. The sound of modern British English is a relatively new thing, having only been introduced in the 19th century. Tbh I was kind of on Billie’s side. They committed to it and are right there from getting a heap of weapons, supplies and men to fight for them. There’s already going to be massive repercussions for the slaves no matter what anyway, they might just kill them outright since the plantation has been taken and they probably don’t have the resources to oversee and contain them if they take them elsewhere. You might as well save what you’ve worked for and have right in front of you to make the best of the situation rather than abandon them for a worse fate and probably lose others anyway which is going to happen regardless. I think Flint was just being petty because they went with Billy’s plan lol and I love that from Flint but Madi is just stupid imo. I also have no idea how they can co ordinate or have the resources to commit to taking all the plantations at the same time AFTER they’ve taken Nassau as well. I don’t see that ever being realistically able to happen and you have to work with what you’ve got and Billy’s been doing this for months already

In truth Flint always behaved like a general, a King, Keeping his cards close to the vest. His strategies always private and secret. It works in the Navy because hierarchy is assumed, but in the pirate world it leads to mistrust.

Tbh it’s a good episode but I’m not a massive fan of the direction the shows taken. The whole Inland rebellion and Pirate King thing for me is just a bit to grand. I preferred Silver working from the shadows and I never got the sense he was a King of Pirates, just an opportunist that knew how to work people. Giving him that title seems a bit too meta and I don’t really get the sense of a Pirate show or treasure Island prequel this episode apart from a few familiar names. I love Bones vs Flint though and I never thought it was going to go like that but it was epic haha! I always took Bones as a Flint loyalist in the book and that is what some other prequel stories do that I’ve seen but ig this could work still with where he ends up and with what, I just gotta see how

Not petty at all. She stole a prize from him and his crew and left him for dead. The fact that his crew didn't kill him right there and then was a testament to Vane's badassery but certainly entailed a promise of retaliation against Eleanor. There was no way his men would still follow him had he let her betrayal slide. It's obvious Vane didn't want to go after her (he even promised to cover up for her if she returned Abigail) so her father was the next best choice. It was survival for him. Although Eleanor had a right to be angry, she was far from an innocent victim in all of this. For this reason, her holier than thou attitute towards Vane was very obnoxious.

When he eventually caught up with her, they had today's version of "If you do this i will find you and kill everyone you ever cared about" and she pretty much said "fuck you bro, try your worst".....and so he did and now she's mad boo hoo. Don't get me wrong, she has every reason to be mad but I wouldn't say Vane's actions were petty. That's just what happens when you ANGER CHARLES VANE......she knew this and still idiotically brushed it off, I'm sorry I just can't sympathize with that.

How did Max betray Anne? There is no way Anne knew about Max's interception of Featherstone's warning to Flint about Rogers' trap. So, how did Max betray Anne? Is this about Max's decision to hand over her portion of the treasure in order to get a seat on Nassau's council? Which happened around the time when Anne and Jack had gathered their portion of treasure and decided to leave Max behind to deal with Rogers and his forces? Is this how Max had betrayed Anne? If you're talking about Max trying to come between Anne and Jack, both were fully aware of this back in Season Two . . . and both had ended up working with her. Also, it was Jack who had betrayed Anne by choosing Max over her, when Featherstone and the rest of Jack's crew were reluctant to work with two women. So, how else did Max betray Anne?

she told anne that if she turned over the cashe jack would go free. it wasn't entirely max's fault because she wasn't the one who decided to change the terms, but she still made the choice to let anne continue to think the terms hadn't changed. max was put to a hard choice that wasn't all her fault, but it was still a betrayal of sorts

We as an audience knew it was a bad move because we already knew that they were looking for him but as far as Jack knew there was a universal pardon that only excluded Vane. He had no reason to believe the offer didn’t still stand for him. Anyway none of this matters, you asked how max betrayed anne and that is the answer. Even max would agree it was a betrayal which is why she compares herself to Eleanor when she does it

@@MeganBrennan There was initially nothing wrong with Max selling the schedule to Vane's crew. Why wasn't she allowed to do this? Because Vane wasn't the show's main character? How was she to know that Eleanor was going to betray her to Flint? Or that Jack would stupidly lose the pearls - the fee for the schedule? And wasn't Anne the one who had snatched Max and delivered her to Vane? Eleanor and especially Jack were mainly responsible for the loss of the pearls, yet Max bore the brunt of most of the punishment. Jack had suffered more from the consequences of Anne's decision to free Max from Vane's crew, not for the loss of the pearls.

The problem is Flint has not cared about anything but himself and his revenge for so long the people that have been around him the longest are finally just fed up with him. Billy has seen Flint fuck over so many of his friends he just reached the breaking point with Flint. The only one still really loyal to Flint now is Silvers and that is because Silvers is just a much a con man playing the long game.
