having the same issue here, with my rx 580 and my Acer XV270P, flicks everytime, randomly, sometimes happening after 5, 10 mins gaming, sometimes after 2, 3 hours... totally random. I'll change settings when i get home to test. Thanks for the video, i hope it helps me.

im not really sure but after i followed this tutorial, it didnt work. but ive already solved this with some search,, and here they are : RX 580 Saphire Nitro + LG monitor 75hz, Radeon Software 20.2.1, Win 10 64bit, *u need AMD Clean Utility before u start these steps, first thing first, remove my currently driver (Radeon Software 20.2.1 which is the latest version) with DDU (Safe mode) Still on safe mode, and then run Cmd and type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth then, type sfc /scannow.. after you know that ur pc is good, run your AMD Clean Utility to fully remove (again) your driver (Idont know why i have to do this, after remove with DDU, but it works) go to search AMD Driver website, and make sure download Driver (Recommended ONLY), in this case Radeon Software 20.1.3 Install, and enjoy my pc without annoying flickering again (almost a whole day i run and play my game, without flickering) And dont u dare to automatic update or update the latest version your driver (20.2.1), it will flickering again. (maybe for some people it doesnt effect) hope this will work on u guys, i know exactly how sucks read this tutor with flickering screen. and also thanks to this video, for another chance to help people too. This solved my problem in 2020 on the new Adrenaline software. Just go into performance, then tuning. Lowered GPU clock to 1270 mhz and increased power %50. Thanks dude!

@@Boo-ui8hm Yes it still works. I actually increased the speed to 1300 mhz and it's still stable. Yes, the section in tuning where there are 7 states, the GPU clock speed gradually increases for each state. Just reduce states 6 and 7 down to 1300 mhz.

My son's gaming monitor had the same problem. Turning on and off and flickering while on. Here's how I fixed it. I powered off the monitor. Check the power cord and come to find out he was using his power cord for his LED light on his monitor. I had him find the monitor's power cord. Pulled it back in and the issue stopped. If it's not the original power cord you’ll run into this issue. Hope this helps!

This problem happened after my new Sapphire RX 570 Pulse 4GB graphics card. I solved the problem. It seems that the problem is not on the card. Due to being a new card, there was a hdmi output problem with the old monitor. I fixed the problem in Radeon Adrenalin 2020 by disabling the HDMI connection assurance option in the display settings. The green screen no longer appears.

I had this problem and are going to try this tomorrow morning. But if you are confused on what wattmen is. It is a setting in the amd settings and all you need to do it access it is open the amd adenine settings, take yourself to the top right of the screen and just search (Watt). Once you do that press manual and enable GPU tuning and enable Power tooning and you are set to do what big man said and fix your monitor! (Hopefully) lol

I have 580, flickers the same way, but I’m using hdmi to regular tv. I’ve noticed power causing the flicker when using desktop, plugging stuff in around the house can cause it to happen, and rare occasions goes totally Green. I’ve changed psu over this issue and no difference. Heavy gpu use can make it happen to the point it’s black screen more than visible. Turning down tuning clock state in adrenaline settings helps 90%

I actually found out that changing to a thicker, more heavy duty cable helped reduce flickering, and then I changed from hdmi to a display cable and that completely stopped all flickering and now my monitor can run smoothly at 144 hz

at the institution I work at we have been having intermittent issues with screen blink like this for years. Sometimes changing the cable to a better quality cable works. I think that the overall issue is "dirty" power. I have a new client with this issue and I'm going to try a UPS to "clean" the power.

My TV only has an 10 bit color intensity but the rx580 standard is 12 bit. I changed to 10 bit in the software and the issue was fixed.

One ironical thing is that when i was using DVI connector instead HDMI, i had 0 problem. When i changed my display for an Acer, i became really angry, didn't know if the problem was my GPU or the Display, because before buying the Display, i've read so many reviews on Acer Community saying that the Acer Displays, most comes with dead pixels, or flicking problems. I know DVI doesn't show the same FPS that an HDMI or DP cable, but like i said, was ironical cause DVI never gave me a problem, and HDMI and DP was only problems lol

thank you so much, i have had the same issue with the 980 ti card, i have 3 monitors, the 4k 65 inch tv 60hz no freesync, works just fine and so does the 1080p 240hz 24 inch tv, the 1080P has freesync premium, but when i play on the 85 4k inch tv 120 hz who has freesync premium pro i can play for some time and then this black screen flicker happens 2 sec with sound in the background, it gets much better if i downclock the card ofc, but when i TURN of freesync for the tv it does not happen anymore. i know you did not say anything about freesync but try it out :) but thx to this video i knew other had the same problem as me, but i never knew it had to do with the new tecnology that the monitors have.

Rx580 doesn’t not support 1440pi gaming, the screen will go black when gaming at higher resolution and frame rate because of GPU power and frequency limitation, there’s not a problem with drivers or hardware, if you downgrade your setting let’s say playing at 1080pi at 60hz the screen will work as it should, I have a 4K 60hz monitor and a 1440 75hz and my games has to run at 1080 and 60hz. I fix the problem buying a new graphic card 5700xt never had the problem again and I can play 1440pi with no black screen.

Turn off g-sync (for nvidia users) or freesync (for amd users) and flickering wont happen but yeah you will be experiencing screen tearing upon fps drops.

@@_silva9184 if you are using nvidia graphic card, then you right click and then click on nvidia graphic driver. Then on the left side u will see, "set up gesync" or something like that. Then you click on it and then u turn off ge-sync. If you are using amd graphic's card, then you turn off freesync instead of g-sync. And unfortunately i dont know about amd drivers coz i never used one. Try googling it or it should also be on youtube.

I have rx880 and it kept doing the ssame thing. Just randomly switching off , only when gaming and (CSGO). I though it was the monitor but after watching this video i went into the radeon software settings and found that i had manual tuning enabled , which i dont recall ever turning on, i switched the Tuning control to GPU overclocked and it solved the issue for me. Actually I decided to switch my monitor to a better one, so two months ago I bought an Acer KG251Q on Amazon, but I couldn't use it because of this black screen issue. To be honest, I didn't have any problem while normally using my PC, except while in game. So I returned the monitor because I didn't have any problem with my old one (AOC 75 Hz refresh rate). I thought that maybe the problem was related to a non compatibility of the RX 580 with that monitor. Some days ago I bought an HP X25 monitor basically I have the same problem. The problem persists also if I play games at 60, 85, 100 or 120 Hz. I also tried to use the HDMI cable, but with no luck. Have you got any idea on how to solve this problem?

I have something similar, though with mine the flicking to black is intermixed with artifacting and snowy tv static ocassionally. Tried your fixes, but didn't work. For me, I THINK it's a problem with the monitor itself, because when I record gameplay footage with ReLive, the recorded video has none of these spurious things. I've DDU'd and reinstalled fresh drivers, scanned my windows installed, used different cables, used different ports, tried 1 monitor at a time (instead of dual)... nothing worked. Adding to this is the fact that my secondary monitor (whether I run DVI or DP) has no issues whatsoever and is plugged into the same GPU.

Regarding the flickering and stuff, I had it RMA'd 3 times. 3rd one is the most well behaved but it still flicks off when using displayport. Its a shitty monitor, sadly. Clearly some kind of systemic design flaw or bad QC. I'm just going to live with it for now and get a better one as a primary some day

dude, you've been posting this everywhere but this doesn't fix the problem, it just disables gsync altogether. You might think it's working but it's not. for instance in my monitor (24g2u), you can display an fps counter, and if it is fixed at your screen refresh rate (i.e. 144) it means gsycn is not working, but if it starts constantly changing it means gsync/freesync is working. if i do what you suggest, the counter doesnt move, which means gsync is off. in order fo gsync to work, it has to be activated in general settings otherwise it won't turn on at all

Found a fix. (2 years later). Make SURE your cables are either DP 1.4 or HDMI 1.2. You’ll get proper throughput that way. Solved this issue for me.

I was just starting to get this issue with my VG248 ASUS 144hz montior, using a RX 5600XT. What i did was to switch from 144hz back down to 60 and the issue went away. I just got a 580 and a 144 hz monitor and if I switched the display settings to 60 the bsck light flicker went away but then when I switched it back to 144 it started again so maybe it’s not the monitor probly the new gpu but then I disabled free sync on the monitor and it went away, but I want free syncs but now I can’t have it cuz the back light flickers but now I gotta deal with screen tearing nice , anyone know a way to get the best of both worlds, I have a aoc 24g2 monitor btw

Iam using latest versions 2020. Its the issue of FreeSync. I turned FreeSync off and my problem is solved. Amd still have the same issue with RX5000 series and they haven't fixed that too, so forget about RX500 series getting a fix. No FreeSync for us.😓😓

If you still got warranty they will tried to fix it or replace it with the same model. I bought a used RX 580 8gb of Ebay and was having issue of crashing, flickering, black screen while gaming. I did everything with the software power voltage, frequency, switch PSU. I knew it was the graphic card, since I tried a different graphic card that work flawlessly. I check my warranty on the website. I was glad I had warranty still. I requested a RMA got approved sent my GPU to them took about 3 weeks to get it back. Now everything work flawlessly without a problem. Just glad I was still in the warranty time frame.

At first I had an Rx 480 which got compleatly destroyed after 2.5 years. So I bought this Rx 580 used with Warranty. Unfortunately I didn't know that there was a protection and I just ripped out the graphics card. Could this be a problem?

amd is a shame, for something they give away games with the purchase of their cards, I bought a rx 590 press and when I play I get black screens and I have to manually restart, try everything with the wattman, one day is good another day not And so it is ... RMA !!! cheap is expensive

It help me to activate Radeon Chill and turn the power limet to max. Works fine right now havent had a flicker/Black screen

Cmos battery new and g card cooling system is not damaged and or repast the gpu chip . Get after burner software and have the latest version of software Windows and gpu if still shit popping put a other gpu in and see how it's doing then still doing it then time to get new cpu .

Sadly this shit happened to my gtx 1050ti too.....I had to upgrade that pc to 1080ti and it stops the flicker. Tbh I think this happens to slightly older gpu amd or nvidia.

Wow I have never seen it happen on an nvidia card. You might have to use a different software like afterburner for yours.
