Black Screen on Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5/6? Easy Fixes!

THIS WAS A LIFE SAVER. Appreciate this vid, thought my phone was over after a fall. The cover screen was dark for 2 days. I pressed on it, restarted..nothing. I repeated it all again today, rebooted it, and pressed the down button several times to put it in safe mode. It's working now 🙌🏿

I know this video is over a year old but thank you for the tips. I tried the freezer method after the others didn’t work. It worked! I did notice the upper part of the phone was warmer then the other part. And putting it in the freezer for 15 mins helps cool it down. Waited another 15 before pressing the start button. Screen appeared!

I have a flip4 and was faced with the ultimate black screen. I closed and reopened the phone like normal and nothing happens. I restarted and still had a black screen. I found this video and tapped the phone...nothing. I gave the phone a deep tissue massage...nothing. i placed it in the freezer for 15 mintues...then I received a flicker of light when i opened the phone. I fell asleep and woke up to see if the phone worked...nothing. I gave the phone a deep tissue massage and whala...the normal screen returned again. Thanks for the assist!

I woke up and my phone was having a black screen but also on occasion i could see my lock screen wallpaper but not tap on anything, thankfully force restarting it helped!! Tysm :D

IT WORKED! I first tapped hard on the screen then put my Flip 4 on the charger, waited 10 minutes, then made a 90° angle and forced the restart and it worked again. Appreciate this vid. Thx

Thank you for this video! I'm going to keep trying. At first when he said to tap the phone with 2 fingers after doing this 3 times already I was like... What am I doing this isn't going to work then boom all of a sudden the screen turned back on!!! I was so excited, however I turned the screen off and now I'm back to a black screen ;( ... So am not the only one with the black screen issue. I called Samsung and went to the samsung shop where i bught the phone. They were asking for $450 to fix it. Very sad. A $1,000 phone that wont work after a year. I have a Samsung A50 from 2019 and problems so far.

The saddest thing is that, Samsung does not want to hear from us about problem like this. Black screen, lines on screen etc. I dropped my Flip 4 from table top and hence the problem (inner screen). Reached out to Samsung Official Support Site to receive a freezing cold response with saying - "It is stated that this Warranty does not cover damage caused by: incorrect operation or not following the operation instructions (as stated in the Product Operation Manual or manufacturer's instructions provided with the Samsung product)".

issue is with inner screen only. samsung tech said to press power then swipe up. this worked for 2 days, now back to black. tried 7 times all methods, no luck, my phone now gets very warm whereas it never had any sign of heat. thanx so much for all the help tho, I paid a thousand for it 4 months ago, too bad.

If your samsung flip (applies to any version to my knowledge) gets a black screen the best way to fix it (and honestly the only way to fix it) is to wait for the battery to die, recharge it, then reset the phone.

My flip 6 the newest one randomly started to not work as it was in the flip mode! I tried all the meothod and nothing, the small screen turns on always but the main screen wont.... im currently on holiday as this is happening, so its not a great start! I have 2 phone, one old Samsung that im currently using to type, currently all i have rn! I maybe just send it back and ask for a new Samsung Galaxy 24 ultra! I wont.... i shouldn't have the same issue! I love yhe flip 6, great phone, i just hate that it does that! I have a flip 3, and the thing that I do the most, that actually works, is to massage your phone, the screen and the back softly but a bit of a pressure. works everytime. But if your phone's temp is hot like, mad hot, you need to cool it down then massage it.

Flip 5 is amazing too, thinking of switching to it. The only reason why this kind of instances happens because of loose ribbon, but dont worry, youll be fine 💙

I accidentally hit the corner of samsung flip phone and both flip screen and main screen was dark. I tried all steps up to the freezer step once and the flip screen started working. Unfortunately, the main screen is still not working but I'll try all steps again 6 times and update this later! Thanks for at least fixing the flip screen!!

well, i haven't tried the last one (the freezer method) but all others did not work. My phone is half black screen on top and half orange yellow on the bottom but having a hard time finding videos for this. Had the phone just a little over a year.

I admit that sometimes if I open it half way, the Home Screen opens up then I’ll just work it from there, but it doesn’t always happen. Grrr. I even turned off the option to operate in half way open, I didn’t see much better results.

this actually kind of helped but in the weirdest way. I did the volume down and power button restart and that did force the screen to display on restart, but the display was streaks. That gave me an opportunity to take a pic of it with a friends phone and apply for warranty and get a new phone since it showed this was a physical defect.

Galaxy flip5 Phone only 2 months old, not dropped it at all, just used it as one would expect to use a phone. Green line recently appeared on inside screen, sent to Samsung to have a look at it, they returned it saying nothing they could do except replace the screen at £300😡There may be a tiny spec of dust in it apparently 😂 The inside screen is now completely black! Just gone through all the processes on the video, finally the tapping worked temporarily and the inside screen came on for a couple of seconds! These phones are not fit for purpose and it is disgusting that Samsung will not fix it, replace it or refund it when still in warranty ! How can they be allowed to get away with this shocking customer service. This phone was £1000 and it’s a joke. I for one will not let this rest and will be taking matters further. I do not expect to go through this bizarre procedure just to get this phone to work. 8:21

How many years does the fold in the screen remains intact? (as per specifications). It should not happen that at one fine day, as we unfold the screen, it appears brittle and breaks at some part in the crease.

I'm at my wits end with this company. I also tried calling customer service and they sent me a link to submit a ticket so I can send my phone in. The ticket system would not work! I called again and the second service rep just kept trying to sell me a new phone. I tried joining their community to get some answers there and AGAIN the system will not let me reply to messages unless I verify my email which I definitely did. My zflip5 is only 3 months old and I have never broken a phone before. First and last Samsung purchase.

I’m still doing these actions over and over and still have the same results. I really think that the HD just isn’t fast enough to flick on when you open the flip. I even stuck it in the freezer for 15 then power-cycled, still had a laggy time to show me the Home Screen.
