My father married a total stranger in a few months after my mother died. His new wife stole all of his money, gave him sleeping pils, he went to hospital in a coma, and now me and my sisters are in court to buy our childhood home, so we can keep it in the family and get that woman out. My point is, there are still good people in the world, but, we all need time to meet a person, before getting into a more serious relationship. And even on that, we never really know a person.

Thank you Vinnie for pointing out the difficulties of family law. The public does not realize how dangerous it is to practice in this area. Like many of my colleagues, I 'retired' from litigation to go into mediation. It's heartbreaking to see people ground up by the system when they cannot afford experts or representation. What I find most credible is Doug's cousin's account of Doug. He is articulate and doesn't seem like he's out to get Ashley. Accounting for any family bias, his comments about Ashley's 90 score on the deception scale are telling. Often times in family court, especially when the self-declared victim is a beautiful young woman, it's hard for people to believe that they could also be calculated killers. As a litigator, I represented many men who were up against women like Ashley. It took us years of depositions and hearings to undo the false allegations. My gut tells me that she is the 'narcissist privileged princess' archetype that is used to having everything she wants and she'll do whatever she can to get it. The good news is that our courts are getting more sophisticated in seeing through deceptive spouses, so for the victim's sake, we'll hope for justice to prevail.

Although I've (thankfully) never been through a custody battle, I'd imagine that they can, often times, get extremely heated. I know as a mom, nothing is more precious to me than my sons. I'm just hearing about this case here, watching this, so I don't know the details, accusations and if the accusations are true. It seems like this mom became so consumed and bent on having her child, that she did something irreversible, but moreso, something that will stay with, stigmatize and have long lasting effects on the person that she's clearly the most focused on - her child. IF this woman gets convicted, her child will be left wifh neither parent. To me, that's the most heartbreaking aspect of this situation.

Sometimes I think it's just like that, there are times we are more vulnerable with others more than with fam. You don't always know your relatives. But I guess it's good he kept saying ' the person he knew' - so he acknowledged that based on the person he believed he knew. I'm leaning towards they both had issues. Huge age gap - and with all due respect we see that at times when that's the case it may be that a woman marries an older man for money, stability, or social status. And as for men usually these are attractive women who basically are trophies. I think it's possible he may have been verbally abusive. Maybe even mentally. I have not yet seen or heard enough to convince me of physical abuse. I think he didn't like the thought of loosing her so it is possible he may have been desperate enough to talk sucide in a n attempt to keep them together. Sounds like he had PTSD. . . That diagnosis doesn’t make it right though. She sounds like she’s being honest, but I don’t think it warrants killing him. I believe these events happened to her, but I am not entirely sure she’s innocent in motive. When we’re in toxic relationships, we keep it a secret, and we do not tell people what’s really going on but that does not mean this did not happen to her. You need to put your focus on the facts, what the facts really show happened or not happened. All this talk in regard to not hearing about it… Believe me these people if they want to hide a bad side, they will hide a bad side, and they get their spouse to feel as though they need to hide it for them as well.

He then enter my room and throw a DD battery at me, luckily it didn't stroke me in the eye, it when straight to my eyebrow bone. He also broke a broom into my older sister back. My mom step out of the room if something like that happened. After the abuse, my father apologized to me saying "I make him so mad ,he couldn't help himself" So yeah. nobody believed that he was an abuser. Nobody.

She was found to have lied in multiple allegations. All unfounded and has been admonished by multiple judges for false allegations. She tried everything to make claims in order to keep her daughter and move away and when that didn't work, she had to take matters into her own hands, as she told one investigator who was ordered to evaluate the parents with the child. Every single investigation was found to be not credible and no evidence or proof to support her claims.

The silly bint murdered him by shooting him in the back and is now grasping at straws trying to claim justification because she "was scared".

She wanted her ballet company financed IMO which is why she married him so quickly! The fact that he supposedly tried to kill her when pregnant but then was fighting to have the relationship with his new daughter!! That just seems like an oxymoron!

Truthfulness and deception indicators, while possible to read in some cases, are highly questionable on the whole. Otherwise we’d have body language and voice analysis experts testifying, which we don’t. Ever. Also, DV victims and perpetrators are manipulated and manipulate others so well, I doubt either one would exhibit baselines anyone could ascertain enough to begin with.

Because she thinks she's some great ballet dancer when she's more like a pole dancer. That old lady bun does her no justice. In court for the hearing she has a wig on.
