I'll never forget walking down Chestnut in Philly and walking past a brother that looked like Thought. I was looking at my phone and happened to look up and made eye contact with this brother who had a closely shaved beard. The brief head nod of 2 seconds had me walk by after we passed and reach out with a..."Black Thought?" To which he said, "Wassup bruh?" Hahahahhaa!!..I couldn't believe it. He was so chill, gave me a pound and a selfie, and it was all good. Favorite MC indeed!

The biggest thing I can think rap can do to help kids is to encourage reading. The best lyricists are the ones who read. Black Thought, Rakim, Emimem, All of those analogies and wordplay comes from a lifetime of reading and I would love to see Hip Hop make reading cool. It also helps with Tarik's point about learning who you are. You can do that much easier when exposed to other lives via reading.

I'm always shocked by the thumbs down numbers on posts like these where the content is overwhelmingly positive or highly favored...they should make the names of the 'dislikers' public so they could be held accountable and possibly explain themselves for dis-liking such inspirational content; do you not find value in life? air? water? love? other things of value?

This must be a Divine affirmation and 'nothing is coincidental' point that he made is accurate. This comes at a time where I've learned much in my life and grew a lot in my creative field but am currently on the verge of my 'next seven' cycle, having conversation with myself in the stillness to find the answers but the questions weren't clearly shaped. Now, they are. Thank you.
