Today, I'm trying a new Pound Cake. Black Walnut Pound Cake. I put a cream cheese Icing on it, and it was delicious, but I think we both like it plain better.

I bought my granddaughter Candy land and Chutes and Ladder when she was young . Her and I loved playing them when she was over . We did alot of puzzles too . I would never buy her a phone with games etc .Hate all these electronics for kids

It is about the Holy Spirit. It is a wonderful book. It is hard to put down once I get started reading it. I have been praying about the next Bible study for our women’s class to do after we are done with “Forgiving What You Can’t Forget” by Lysa Terkeurst. Valentines day began as a pagan holiday. Now it is a day for retail to make money. I am happily married every day and do not believe we need a day to spend money. My husband brings me flowers throughout the year and is so good to me as I am to him!

My sweet Daddy after my Mom passed would pick up black walnuts, dry them and crack them and pick out the meat, he sold some but he always made sure to give my husband some every year, I am not a fan but I have black walnuts in my freezer that my sweet Daddy gave us, Dad passed 6 years ago at the age of 98, those walnuts may not be any good but they aren’t hurting anyone sitting in my freezer. My Mom and Dad were saved and ready to go home with our Savior so I know I will see them one day when we stroll over the streets of gold.

Here in the smokies of western NC, black walnuts are everywhere! Squirrels bury the nuts and I have trees come up all over, especially next to my house. My neighbor use to run over them in the driveway to crack them. They make an awful mess and stain your hands. The shells are so hard, he said he’d slowly go up and down the driveway cracking them for his wife. The Cherokee gather and crack them and sell them in quart mason jars. 11 years ago they were $25, not sure of the current price. They use the shells to dye river cane and oak for their baskets and wool.

@@cumberlandquiltchic1 yeah my Dad ran over them with the car and yes they do stain your hands if you don’t wear gloves. I have a pint jar and 2 pints in freezer bags and there isn’t enough money to buy them, I see them in the freezer and I then can see my Daddy.

My husband died February 6, 2022, so he will have been gone 2 years next week. He was so loyal about making Valentine's day special. He gave me a promise ring on Valentine's day 1977 and an engagement ring Valentine's day 1978. He always gave me roses and my favorite chocolate cookies from a bakery in the next town over. Leslie it made me tear up when you talked about the depth of love Jesus has for us. I know what you mean about the tears flowing while Jesus makes His presence known. I have spent so much time since I lost my husband studying my Bible and have grown so much closer to Jesus. I spend a lot of time watching your videos and others and you always make me smile. I always add a little flour to walnuts to keep them from falling to the bottom. I use a 2 piece tube pan.

Great shirt Leslie. That pound cake looks so good. The spray the pan in the dishwasher is such a good idea. Cake batter will draw them in every time....lol. The worse looking cakes always taste the best...lol. Everyone needs some quiet time with the Lord. Don't wait until something goes wrong....he loves us all the time...not just in the tough times. My husband loves me completely but I don't think he would allow himself to be nailed to a cross for me...pretty sure I wouldn't be nailed to a cross for him either...Jesus Never hesitated. You were rushing getting it out of the pan next time wet a dish towel with warm water and wring it out good with your cake pan upside down on your cake plate lay the towel across the bottom of the cake pan the cake should release with out tearing up

A cookbook?? Yes please! All of us would love it I’m sure😁. Your sweatshirt is adorable. The cake looked good even if it was a little wonky and the frosting covered it up anyway. I think we all get into the too busy mode for our devotions. For me the holidays are always so busy but God is never too busy for us. He will welcome us back no matter how long we are away from Him. He gives us the greatest gift on Valentine’s Day, His love for us. And yes his greatest gift was His son Jesus. No greater love was or will be shown to us❤️

Hello Mrs Leslie I feel the same way on electronics my Nephew is 8 almost 9 and that’s the first thing he he comes in the door. When I make cakes anymore that go into a pan with different shapes I will take equal parts flour, oil, and shortening and throughly mix together and with a brush I paint every bit of the pan. So far I have had success. I will be making that cake we love black walnuts. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.

My husband might adore this as he loves black walnuts. I am not a fan of them but should make this for him. I recommend a larger and traditional straight smooth side tube pan, especially. One with the vertical tabs. I find older traditional recipes need the larger, less ornate tube pan.

I have made walnut pound from Taste Of Home it's delicious. My bunt pan was to small also had the same problem as you. The next time I did a 2 layer cake with vanilla butter cream icing and turned out great.

Leslie I use the Nordic Ware 18 cup angel food pan for all my pound cakes. It's never let me down. They come out perfect every time. I'm going to try this recipe next week. ♥️

This is basically a Italian cream cake. I always use 3, 9" cake pans. So you'd need the large bunt pan. I've got to try this ❤️

When you mentioned problems with the remote on your older television, it reminded me of the problems that I had with my older Magnavox about 10 months ago. I looked all over for a remote that I was confident would be compatible with the set after trying a couple of generic remotes that I had purchased at Walmart and one a a big box store. Finally, I found Remote-Control-Outlet -- they have an E-Bay store and match your television to an appropriate replacement remote control using its model and serial numbers. They were even able to match a remote to my 15 year old Magnavox, and it accesses all functions just as the factory remote had done.

I use a tube pan for my black walnut cake. Instead of granulated sugar, I use powdered sugar, vanilla extract, lemon extract, and black walnut extract. I cool the cake 25 minutes in the pan before taking it out of the pan to finish cooling. I also use 1 and 1/2 cups of black walnuts. Our family prefers no icing.

Also where did you get black walnuts from. Like the other lady said we had a black walnut tree in our pasture and we collected them and dried them when I was growing up. My daddy liked black walnut ice cream

My grandson and I would play uno and put puzzles together. He was able to do these things and cross word puzzles before he was in kindergarten. He would almost always beat me at uno, he thought that was hilarious. Your cake looks delicious and your videos are never too long.
