Enjoyed making these. I did a cheat though. I piped the dough since it was like a thick cake batter and I also used piping bags to put the icings on giving a good half and half effect. Extremely tasty and the hint of lemon genius.

I am about to make Half Moon cookies for the first time (although mine will be chocolate like the ones from Hemstrought Bakery in Utica NY). I was very nervous about getting them nicely round and keeping the frosting neat - your helpful video addressed both of those concerns. Thanks!

I have never heard of these before, I don't think I have ever seen them anywhere in Northern Ireland. They look totally delicious. Thank you for sharing these Stephanie. I was wondering, because I've never heard of these so I wouldn't know, do they freeze well once made (that is of course if there are any left over to freeze, lol)? Thanks again for sharing. Lee x

I've always heard that black and whites originated in upstate ny, Binghamton to be exact. A vanilla cookie and LEMON is just CRAZY, the cookie base is chocolate, very thin batter. Like a cupcake top with frosting on the bottom. And no fondant, please, what wedding cake baker dreamed that up? Heresy, the original way is the best. Elk's bakery in Endicott ny was the goal standard!
