Lots of questions were raised With respect to Amber Heard’s credibility in the UK trial. Here is an analysis of the judgement and why I think some of those elements should have been taken into account against her testimony.

My take on it….simplest answer is usually the most likely. It’s the old Amber effect. As hard to like as she is now we’ve all seen her true colours, there’s no denying that most people are overwhelmed by how attractive she is. She enchanted him (or perhaps ‘stupefied’ is the better term) with her personal charisma, which rendered him incapable of logical thought or assessment of her behaviour. Even judge’s get lonely and have hormones. The old man just had a crush, mate, and bought into her poor little girl story. She was working it and he probably got whiplash off her eyelash flutters. Unfortunately a lot of men in particular are susceptible, but even straight women have been known to be stunned by her personal beauty, if she jumps out at them unexpectedly. One actress (who’s name I regrettably forget right now) called her ‘blinding’ (on the Graham Norton show with JD). In NZ we have a rude word that far better describes it. Starts with C, rhymes with DumpTruck.

its not that he went out if his way to believe amber. The Judge, Andrew Nichol is intimately connected with Dan Wootton, The Sun’s journalist who posted the defamatory allegation that JD was a “wife beater”. The connection is through the Judge’s own son, Robert N Palmer, who works alongside Wootton at TalkRadio, part of the same group owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News paper the sun

My abusive ex is still popping up occasionally, and we haven't been together for 18 years, these kinds of people will never leave you alone. It's part of why I haven't ever believed Amber, because abused women don't chase after the men who hit them, the one who is being hit tries to get away, it's the one who does the hitting that won't ever let you leave. Even once you do leave, you can never be totally free. I'm pretty sure my ex calls whenever he's single. We have a son together he hasn't seen him in 15 years, he also has 7 other children, and I assume he treats their mother's the same way he treats me 🙄

The author of the Sun article, Dan Wooten declined to testify and actually sent Amber to testify in his place. It is my personal opinion that the reason she and her lawyers can't stop saying she won in the UK is because that slander piece published by Wooten was written with her and was part of their strategy to help protect her from being successfully sued for defamation in America. It secretly really was her suit, the Sun article was published to lay the groundwork, to create the idea that other people said things before she did, to sort of open a path for her to (violate the nda and) slander Depp with impunity while being the ACLU DV Ambassador, imho. And I agree it is more abuse perpetrated on Depp. Also, "Gone Potty " was part of the headline and I think it was more a hint to Depp about who was the real author, rather than just a Potter pun.

The U.K. would never go against their own for Americans or any other. Collectively, Brits believe Great Britain is a superior country and its citizens believe they’re also superior to Americans. Sorry, please don’t come for me. I live here and that’s what they tell me and have done for three decades. The judge in that U.K. case probably scoffed at JDs lawsuit against The Sun Newspaper. Plus, said judge has been nefarious, (allegedly) in his dealings regarding the judgement because of the company his wife allegedly kept including AH. Also, another simple thing for eg in entertainment: a competitive TV show.. No American (who competes in Britain) has ever won a show in the U.K. as opposed to Brits who would have (and have) won many times in America. Unfair? Of course! However, the WORLD got to see the entire contents of the Virginia case from legal lens and we, the court of public opinion AND more importantly, the jury in the VA case and we saw who the real guilty party was! That was a revelation! Shout out to Brown-Rudnick and ALL of their awesome, fantastic lawyers! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I was surprised the judge discounted two of his security, when one had been a sheriff in the USA, and another had been a HMPS guard in the UK. Surely if the security guards both left their positions with positive work records, their oaths sworn to justice still apply, and made them credible witnesses. I find it interesting that AH had a very high turn over of staff with some claiming bullying and PTSD/anxiety symptoms from the bullying they endured from AH. Kate James was apparently a "skeleton" by the end of her time with AH, due to being worked so hard, without being allowed meal breaks. .... Meanwhile, JD had longstanding and happy staff, some with him for decades. ... High staff turnovers are big red flags for me, and the latter, imo, speaks to good character of someone?

Importing dogs to Australia is a major offence in Australia, and she is unlikely allowed to be able to return for several years if the government chooses. Also lying to Homeland Security is a serious issue. Had she been paying a friend here in Australia it is likely that her friend would be sent out of Australia and banned for 3 years. More than impinging her credibility, AH has committed offenses. I suspect the judge is susceptible to a lovely woman.

Given the depth and breadth that the judge went through in his judgment to explain his reasons for everything, given the inconsistencies in what he did and did not accept and what he did and did not (or would not) take into consideration, it sure doesn't reflect well on the judge or UK courts maintaining a lack of bias. His ties to the media company notwithstanding, it's like he was blindly accepting that "she is a (young, pretty, blue-eyed, blond-haired woman) and he is a man who makes lots of money with every movie" argument. Can JD appeal again, given the plethora of evidence of AH's lies, in particular to evidence that was accepted as valid but since proven questionable at best?

The fact that the judge in this case, if I'm not mistaken, has a son working for the Sun, correct? IF so, would that not be an automatic case of conflict of interest with the judge and he should have recused himself from presiding the case? Here in the states, normally, because the judge would have a close or immediate relative working for the defendant in a case he/she is assigned to would have had to recuse him/herself from the case due to conflict of interest. Does the the UK basically have the same rule?

@@sharonwilson8208 the study does not pertain to Dr. Hughes. It is related to Amber and Johnny’s testimony/depositions in the UK case. I whole heartedly agree. Dr. Hughes may have been a good doctor at some point in her career, but she’s clearly lost all objectivity and sold her soul. IMO, the way she was preaching made me wonder how many men have been falsely accused and convicted based on her testimony and how she trains her “victim” clients. I read this paper. The journal is apparently a peer review journal. The author is an academic at a Swedish university. It’s quite a fascinating analysis. The author proposes a set of criteria for evaluating credibility, using this case as an example. Re : witnesses , Amber had 8 witness who were all related to her, or employed by or otherwise dependent on her. Johnny had 22 witnesses of whom only 7 were employed by or dependent on him. Yet the judge found her witnesses to be more credible.

Totally agree with you. As a former Senior Constable of Police in Australia, it's my experience and opinion that the mear fact she admitted to illegally importing dogs into Australia, shows serious doubt on her credibility. The Judge made some bizarre choices in his rulings and some very odd assumptions. Amber was clearly involved in trying to get other witnesses to lie or misrepresent things in her favour. Her credibility is seriously in doubt and there's evidence to support that. He chose to disregard the evidence without rational justification.

Personally i also think that such a legthy written judgement on this type of case, perhaps you can provide other examples, stinks of me thinks the lady protests too much! even on a cursory study the judges actions and points of view come across as biased, and not a little.

I agree with your very clear arguments, firstly that she was comfortable giving false statements to government agencies re the 'employment' of her assistant, she lied about the dept of agriculture documentation to import her dogs into Australia, and she bullied staff to falsify documents. Secondly re the taped arguments which the judge chose to dismiss, in which I agree very strongly (having been on the receiving end of many such arguments with my ex-husband) that the context and admissions are clear and obvious. Amber said she hit Johnny and that she started physical fights. To dismiss them because 'Amber gave away all the divorce settlement to charity and was clearly not a gold-digger' was as shocking to me on first reading as was the verdict of Justice Nicol at first hearing.
