It’s unfortunate that the UK doesn’t have the ethics rules for Judges that the US does. His blatant and numerous conflicts of interest would be not only grounds for nullification of his verdict, but serious disciplinary action against him.

When I was first looking into this trial several years ago there was a reaLLY interesting chart that someone had made basically outlining the connections that the judge's wife and son had to either Heard or to the Sun. The judge's son worked for the same parent company that owned The Sun. His wife attended several women's charity dinners at which Heard was also present, and shared several mutual friends/mentors with Heard at the time. Those are just the two main connections I remember off the top of my head, but there were...more than just those. If you're going to seriously pursue this you should absolutely look into those claims, though.

You can only have "an axe to grind" if you have REASONS for it. Amber Heard is an evil MANIPULATOR ... who PLANNED TO TAKE WHATEVER SHE CAN GET! There are pieces of evidence which suggest that SHE MIGHT EVEN HAVE PLANNED TO KILL JOHNNY DEPP (through the idiot Josh Drew "white knighting poor poor Amber Heard"). The accusations told to her psychiatrists from the start - if they are even actually given to the psychiatrist and not added later on by Amber herself - clearly show that she planned for it FROM THE START. She changed her description from "a magical first year" to "he was violent from the start" (so why marry the guy then???) after all.

The UK trial was an absolute sham, because of the personal connections Nichol had to the case. If he was a man with integrity, that actually had respect for the rule of law and his responsibility to uphold it-he should’ve immediately excused himself and allowed someone else to preside over the case! I was genuinely surprised that the uk legal system apparently had no *(Conflict of interest)* laws in place, as an effort to prevent something like this from happening! NO One that has been a victim of dv would act the way ah has and continues to do, and your judge gave into her manipulations and lies via the rag. Thank you for explaining everything from a non-US view. To me, you take the bias and slant out of the US attorney's analysis. You make a compelling case! The question is: Having achieved his aim of public vindication, would Johnny want to spend the time, energy, and money on a second court trial? Unlike Amber, I don't get the feel that Johnny is enjoying raking up his private life in the public eye. In American law, there are circumstances in which a verdict can be overturned if some flaw is discovered after the fact. Could the revelation that Amber *hadn't* actually given away her divorce settlement to charity as she claimed be grounds for voiding the judgement? After all, the learned judge cited the "fact" of Amber having donated this money as proof of Amber's credibility. Now that we know that didn't happen, can the trial be invalidated under UK law, without any obligation that the matter be retried if the plaintiff (Johnny) has no desire to re-litegate?

Great question!.... The Sun, having previously hacked JD,s phone when Lily Rose was a sick child, had a strong will to ensure JD could not win... Evidence is the story of the truth and must be allowed to have explanations... JD was unable to disprove ambers evidence, by design. And yes, Nichol based his judgement on DONATED MONEY so regardless if the petition declares a mistrial, or conflict or whatever... Jd has proven ambers evidence was manipulated, fraudulent, and assisted by others ie; a HOAX.... So in effect, Adam Waldmans statement was correct... And its proven that Amber Heard is a Consumate Liar.

In Johnny’s case, I’m not aware of anyone coming forward to say they’d been abused by Johnny when he lost the UK case. Daniel, listening to your reasoning I also feel this judgement should be set aside and another case be presented to a jury rather than a single judge presiding over the case. Also Amber Heard should be compelled to be a witness and give all evidence so nothing is excluded. it is a shame that they couldn't use the evidence and findings in the American court case in the British trial. I also was listening to the photographer who was told to take pictures of Amber Heard as she came out of court with the bruises on her face and which side to take. surely these close up original pictures should have been part of evidence and they should have been medically analysed to see if they were real and not makeup and the injuries fit what she was claiming had happened. This actress is a drama artist as the American trial has shown, everything she is saying and claiming should be questioned throughly, her lawyers and publicists have repeatedly manipulated the media deliberately throughout the British and American court cases, so nothing should be accepted at face value.

People trying to say the judge was compromised because his wife had dinner with some person that was connected to Heard or her lawyer, or that his son worked at a radio station owned by the same company that owned the newspaper that the article was written in, I honestly ignore those arguments as ridiculous. HOWEVER, someone put out a video that explained that this judge very specifically was connected to defending the rights of the MEDIA'S freedom to report virtually anything. Had written a book on it with someone connected to Heard's side. THOSE are conflicts of interest that absolutely should have been grounds for him to be removed from the case, as he CLEARLY already had a bias to believe that the MEDIA had a right to print whatever they deemed to be "newsworthy". In the US, he 100% would have been removed on those grounds. That doesn't even begin to address his obvious bias against anyone that has a substance abuse problem - assuming any time Depp was drinking or using drugs during an incident that he absolutely had NO IDEA what happened during that time, and therefore only Heard should be believed. Nor does it address his obvious bias that men could not POSSIBLY be abused by women, as his utterly RIDICULOUS hoop jumping that he does to dismiss incidents when Depp says she did something to him (such as saying she couldn't have thrown a red bull at Depp as Heard doesn't drink red bull - what?! or that she couldn't have thrown a purse at him because she was in her pajamas - WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!). Worse - dismissing doctors, nurses, cops, other credible witnesses in order to satisfy his belief that she was abused.

Thank you so much for this Daniel. What did you make of AH being allowed to sit in for the whole of the UK trial, before giving her evidence or being subject to recall, when she was just a witness in the UK? Surely that's against procedure, and she shouldn't have sat in the whole UK trial prior to her own testimony? Caroline Pykles who has followed this since the divorce proceedings (as it smelled fishy to her), said AH sitting in for the whole of the UK trial allowed her to write 7 different witness statements, that were ammended according to each testimony she heard before her own -- I am unsure if she meant the statements were for the UK trial, or for the USA trial, but Pykles seemed to imply it was for the UK courts.... I'll try to find the section of video. I can go for half an hour on a video like this, as you set it out so clearly. But 20 minutes little bites to replay and digest is also good..... The day the UK judgement came out, I read it and it was clear this judge was bias and/or had his own agenda. He made his decision, then used the evidence that backed that decision as reason. Which isn't fair or acceptable. He should have been dismissed for conflict of interest too. It was clear Depp didn't get a fair trial in the UK. There were several discrepancies made on the judges part. The judge refused Depp's request to disclose Amber's evidence or be questioned by Johnny's team. The judge allowed Amber & her sister to sit through the entire trial. She could hear all the evidence & listen to the testimonies, so she had the opportunity to change her story accordingly and that's exactly what she did. The judge took Amber's word as fact regardless of many conflicting accounts, evidence that proved otherwise, and proof she lied. Amber & her sister, were allowed to change dates because Johnny had evidence that contradicted her original claims. Amber's stories never match any of the evidence, but the judge still accepted her account as fact. There was blatant favoritism or clear bias to everyone except The Sun & Amber's side. The Sun only had to prove they had reason to believe Amber. That judge made serious claims that 12 out of 14 incidents were likely true without evidence to support that. He even claimed there wasn't enough evidence, but because he believed other incidents, he concluded these were likely true. The entire case was a joke.

It’s clear to see you are a fan of truth and justice, and I personally am thankful for people like you who seek to ensure justice is done. This is such an admiral trait. Wishing you success in over-turning this verdict and once again showing our justice system is one to be respected! Currently this case has lost so much faith in our system, home and abroad. Should judge Nicholls have heard this case considering his links to Mr Wooten and the media mogul and great manipulative master, Mr Murdoch. The judge clearly was not the right judge for the case. From the beginning, it’s pretty clear the judge saw a woman claiming to have been battered and just believed it and disregarded everything else. This even being possible puts a stain on the UK system. How many other people have been affected by this? Sure no system is perfect and people, even judges make mistakes. However, this seems to be much more than a mistake. It feels malicious. Not saying it is malicious, but it certainly comes off that way.

You do understand that the Judge was a friend of the owner of the newspaper JD was suing and his son worked for him too so a definite conflict of interest. To many its obvious JD didnt have a hope of winning there are many vids showing why this was. Ultimately the judge was ruling for the paper and nothing to do with AH. If you look at many of our courts decisions its obv they are biased towards the woman, many men jailed for crimes that a woman has done worse crimes but were let off as she has children or is pregnant.

I’ve recently gone back and watched a few videos about the UK trial that were posted when it happened. It’s heartbreaking, knowing what we all know now, that most people believed Amber. I believed her too and I feel horribly guilty now for doing so. It is painful to think about how Johnny must have been feeling for all of those years. I’m so glad that he was able to finally expose her and reclaim his life and reputation. Much love to Johnny and all of those out there that have helped to expose the lies of an abuser and clear his name ❤️❤️❤️

The UK judge Andrew Nicol wrote a book with Mr. Geoffrey Robertson and when appointed he was employed by Mr. Robertson’s firm, Doughty Street Chambers. Mr. Geoffrey Robertson is a mentor and employer of Jennifer Robinson, who is Amber Heard’s counsel. Jennifer Robinson took Amber Heard to a private dinner party in July during the trial. Also attending that dinner were Baroness Helena Kennedy, and the party was hosted by Kathy Lette. Baroness Helena Kennedy was also employed by Doughty Street Chambers and Kathy Lette is Mr. Geoffrey Robertson’s ex-wife. They’re also close friends with Jennifer Robinson, Camila Palmer and Judge Nicol’s wife. These women have been supporting Amber Heard for years now in her UN functions and by publishing their support during the 2020 trial. But here’s another piece of information that should have undoubtedly been made public by the judge: His son, works for Talkradio, who employs Dan Wootton. Wootton? Why does that name sound familiar? Because he’s the one who wrote the article calling Johnny Depp a “wife beater”. The article that made Johnny go forward with the libel case in the UK. Even knowing this the judge carried on in the trial and decided that Amber Heard’s claims were credible and he dismissed most of Johnny Depp’s evidence, including surveillance footage, emails, audio recordings, pictures, tapes, cheques and even the witness statement of Johnny Depp’s bodyguard. Justice Nicol also found that Amber knowingly made false statements under oath and pleaded guilty, yet he found her credible??? Oh, one more thing; Justice Nicol retired soon after the 2020 trial ..

I think that JD was very clear about what he wants and needs. He have a really great team, and they know what they’re doing. Although he looks fresh and focused, he lost almost ten years for this craziness. He doesn’t want to reopen nothing. He said what he wanted to say. The people who did him wrong where exposed. He doesn’t need to waste another single day of his life dealing with anything connected to the gold digger vampire he was with. I know people truly want to make it right. To make the wrong doings correct. But since he lived through this and he’s had enough, maybe it’s better to leave things the way they are. Or at least ask him or his legal team if they want to reopen the UK case.

I am soo glad that you are breaking down all of this about the UK case. As an American, I couldn't understand how the judge reached the decision they did. Now, with your analysis, I understand more about the specifics and think that this verdict should definitely be revisited, especially in light of the VA case and verdict.

In 2009 I was "sent down" with a sentence of four years for GBH ... I went "not guilty" for the entire trial, even when the GBH was added to the indictment, previously there was only "GBH with intent"... Anyway, to cut a long story short, the judge, in his summing up made a statement which was so wrong that my barrister appealed the sentence and it was reduced to three years... This was very important, cause it opened up the possibility of "home detention curfew, which I ultimately received... To this day I don't believe I was guilty of the offence I was imprisoned for... But.. Hey... Prison is full of innocent people!! ! My point is... If the appeal has merit... go for it...

I will say again What’s the point in having an Appeal court of Appeals are rarely granted ? Seriously 😒 wtf the Judge believed everything she said and didn’t even listen to JD or his side of things . If this isn’t grounds for an overturning of the judgment then I don’t know what is . Listening to you speak about this case and it’s ruling has really made me question 🙋‍♀️ how fair the UK court systems really are and for how many people it’s actually failed 😞 and how these people must feel the judgment is wrong and yet they have little to no chance of an appeal to right the wrong of their injustice. I really think 🤔 our legal system needs to be looked at and maybe some reforms are needed . This case and the US case proves this point. Love you 😍 and your videos keep them coming xxx

One of the most important things for society is that ... *_BUREAUCRACIES NEED THE ABILITY ... AND THE WILL ... FOR QUALITY CONTROL, i.e. to WEED OUT THEIR OWN MISTAKES/FLAWS._* The british justice system (and the rest of its bureaucracy) does NOT have sufficient willpower for SELF-CRITICISM ... because - as @BlackBeltBarrister keeps telling us - "respect for colleagues of law is A REQUIREMENT", which basically precludes any criticism and makes correctional processes TOO RARE! *We - including judges - are all HUMANS and thus MAKE MISTAKES! As a scientist I REQUIRE "criticism" from other scientists, who probably see flaws in my work that I have overlooked ... but in todays world of "science" you are not allowed to criticise anymore!*

It's shocking UK justice could be so unjust! I just don't see how they can let the result of the trial stand. It could of /probably did do huge damage to Johnny Depp and his family and for the sake of anyone in a similar position who doesn't have his resources it has to be reviewed and the trial reassessed and faith in UK justice restored. Legal experts around the world were appalled looking into the details of how this trial was conducted its an embaresment to the country and can't be left to stand as it is.

This topic has been on my mind . I’m so glad you addressed it. I just was interested in what seemed to go wrong or how the outcomes could be so different. Its not like it doesn’t happen in the US too. I don’t believe there will ever be a system of perfection … but we should try to come as close as possible . That requires evaluation.

You did a very good analysis on this case. Unfortunately, in the UK, it is ‘who you know’ that has a greater weight than ‘what you know.’ I just hope the appeal will be reconsidered. Although Johnny Depp has been cleared in the US court, it will be better if the UK justice system should be humble enough to admit that they made a mistake in this case and reopen it.

Your perspective on this is so nice. I doubt Depp wants to go back to appeal now. He did what he set out to do. I'm sure he's appreciating this. Those were serious lies she told w his money on top of it for lawyers! Disgusting person.
