Was ready to tear my hair out--I'm adequately computer-savvy, but the tutorials I've been given were so jargon-heavy and oversaturated with extra details that I just couldn't absorb it. All I wanted was a simple, "here it is" tutorial on a video class, and this was it. Wahoo. Thanks.

Excellent job lecturing Katie ! You keep things simple enough for me to follow.

I agree that this was an excellent tutorial. I got more out of this video than I did from visiting the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra! Thanks much, Katie!

Yes. The one from Blackboard itself is useless. I am guessing that's why they turned off the comments

Thanks for the information. Does BB Collab has virtual background so they will not see what inside my room? Thanks

what I don´t like about Bb is that does not play audios without using the screen. I teach children and use it at work and when we play music, we cannot see kids dancing :/

Very good tutorial, but I would like to know 2 things -- 1) Do I need to send the URL (of the class) to the students so that they can join it, or can they see the sessions that I have created "as they open"? 2) If I have uploaded various PDF files into my Course documents area, is there a quick way to add these PDF/PPT files to the BBCU screen in the Sharing area?
@katiewalker48574 жыл бұрын
1. Not if you set up the session inside Blackboard. 2. No.

Thanks for this excellent tutorial. They usually drive me out of my mind, but this was great. Do you have any examples of classes in session via Ultra?

Katie what happens with recording of a session? Also can students screenshot or somehow download your PowerPoint? I teach criminal investigations class and don’t want certain photos being shared outside the class.

Why not zoom? 😔
@jcrocks66984 жыл бұрын
Because although they claimed so at first, Zoom is Not encrypted, and therefore, there are FERPA and sometimes HIPPA issues. Also, file sharing is different.

This is a great tutorial. Thank you for your time and effort on this. One thing to ask: when you start recording the session, and then you stop, is there a space where the recording is saved and that you can re-use/upload somewhere for students who are unable to join that particular session? Thanks for any response.
@katiewalker48574 жыл бұрын
For us, Collaborate is incorporated into our Blackboard LMS so the recordings automatically show up in the course in Blackboard.

@@katiewalker4857 thanks. I figured out where the recordings were stored--under the '3 lines' and the "Recordings" section. I appreciate your help.

Nice and clear. May I ask a quick question? Is there any way to track attendance, i.e., student's login history?
@katiewalker48574 жыл бұрын
Not really. There is a feature for Blackboard but I haven't found it to be accurate. I use a paper spreadsheet and if I miss it, I go back and check the recording.
