Pretty dope song and fella. Autumnal Hearts Ablaze is a crazy cool song title, paints a wicked picture. Good call to do both songs to show more nuance. With an adjective like autumnal I reckon the emphasis moves to the second syllable. I like to geek out about all things phonetics and grammar…

Blackbraid, nice! A couple years ago I had a KEXP video with Pan Amerikan Native Front in my youtube recommendations. Got intrigued right away and went down a little rabbit hole where I found Blackbraid among other bands. Actually barely scratched the surface; turns out there are a whole lot of BM bands with deep indigenous-american roots, north and south.

ironic that indigenous artists are now appropriating a purely european artform and calling it their own i seem to recall that if european-descended people mimicked art in the indigeneous sphere either intentionally or through influence, they were colonizers, racists, and appropriators who denigrated the culture they were appropriating so i guess the whole appropriation victim mentality is utter bullshit and one can like or dislike art as they see fit, but art is art and people should just like what they like and everyone else can fuck right off

So I had heard Blackbraid's first album and liked it but didn't love it so I neglected to check out his second album and let me say this video had fantastic timing for me. Not only is the second album phenomenal but I also found out Blackbraid will play here together with Dödsrit (phenomenal, do check them out) in about a month so thank you for this happy coincidence.

Impressive for a one man band! Had a real 90s Scandinavian throwback sound to it. Reminded me of Alcest. Ps. Just realised you're officially over a year old! Congratulations! If you were a child, you'd likely be waking by now and maybe even beginning to say a few words. Kinda like Judson's journey into metal. Just with less sh!t everywhere.

I dig the fuck out of this band. I like the lyrics and the calming effect it has. Some black metal just feels smooth and calm. Also, in my experience the Natives love metal so it's good to see people of that community doing so well because both of their albums are fucking killer.

You should show Judson "Book of the Fallen" by Caladan Brood - probably one of the best epic black metal tracks that occupies the middle ground between the rawer production and shrieked vocals typical of BM along with symphonic and choral elements

Caladan Brood is actually a character in the fantasy series "The Malazan Book of the Fallen". The metal album is entirely based on the books, pretty cool. Coincidentally it's the greatest series ever written.

Awesome video! Blackbraid is one of my favorites USBM bands. I'm not a musician, but I can safely say that one of the most important black metal traits is the atmosphere (the confluence of sounds, purposely repetitive in most cases, even the typical tremolo style adds to it). Another characteristic is the purposely lo-fi (or "rotten production") with the intent to keep the "honesty" and the purity (dark, cold and violent) of the genre, which started as a rebellion against commercial death metal. It is also a great mean to express aspects of cultures, traditions and philosophies.

Can't recommend Mgla anymore on account of them being neo-nazis. We're all free to enjoy whatever we like but I personally can't justify listening to music by people who actively contribute to fascist groups and movements.

@@7heSlime They have publicly distanced themselves from nsbm several times. Even if they hadn't, would you listen to Pantera? Would you listen to Gary Glitter? Would you listen to Burzum or Mayhem? What about Watain, Taake, or Gorgoroth? How about Elvis? You can separate the art from the artist. It's not an issue for most of humanity. You do not have to agree with their political ideologies, with their actions, or even with their songs' meanings. Musicians are not some pure lifeform who are infallible just because they create music. Not listening to, or recommending someone's music because of their political beliefs in spite of liking their music is like not giving a gold medal to someone in a sport they clearly won because you don't agree with their choice of dinner. It's irrelevant.
@7heSlime2 ай бұрын
Publicly distancing themselves means nothing when they actively work with nazis like Mikko Aspa. As I said, you're free to listen to whatever you want but I draw the line at being active contributors to nazi movements and shit like that. And no, I don't really listen to those bands and artists you mention.

black metal...religion before Christianity. more importance on mother earth than a central god. the spirits return in a lot of religion during the fall. it's ok to say indian. the trail of tears leads to about where i live. indian names on many towns and streets. they are a nation within a nation who are struggling today with keeping their heritage. some indian languages have been lost due to americanization of the tribe. lived overseas in Muslim kingdoms guys this is a statement said by many cultures, do not get americanized by American culture...the antichrist lol.

i dunno it sounds amateurish better than i can do, but it still sounds unpolished, and not in that good black metal no production kind of way black metal is supposed to sound cold. desolate. this doesn't. it sounds bedroom-y.
