I went to that game, I was stood on the fence to the left of the Blackburn End goal. If you look carefully you can see me jump off the fence when Simon Garner scored Rovers' goal!

First time seeing Liverpool. Great memories and a wonderful sight seeing those old terraces bouncing.

Great strike from Garner. At the other end Hodgson really wasn't good enough for that LFC team. Was at the game and remember Souness dictating play. Enjoyable trip down memory lane.

I agree about Hodgson. If I recall correctly he only scored 4 or 5 goals total in his few seasons with the team. I never quite understood why we signed him from Middlesbrough. He wasn’t exactly a prolific striker. Sourness was immense in this match again. Some player.

Hodgson was a good footballer but not a good finisher. He was excellent at Middlesbrough at creating chances for others from wide positions. Joe Fagan was planning to use him to replace Sammy Lee on the right side of midfield. I think he could have flourished there had he remained at the club. He made an unwise decision to join Sunderland who were just relegation fodder. Good player but mostly used in the wrong position.

@@markreville6917 I thought he had promise. Good pace and running off the ball and made space for Rush and gave an outlet to Kenny. Looking at LFC History we had 13 wins in 14 games around this time and Hodgson played in all of these games bar one I think. Possibly deserved more of a chance under Fagan. He was certainly a lot more mobile than Robbo. There was a lack of top forwards around. I don't think Robbo was an exciting signing. Glad we never got Nicholas. Thought he was a bit of a ponce. Such a great winning run then which is why the Brighton defeat was such a shock. The cup was huge back then - biggest cup competition more so than Europe. Everyone wanted to win it for Bob. Full house v Brighton on a Sunday (first Sunday game at Anfield in 100 years or something). A bitter defeat that. People were angry and Brighton got boos bit unfair but people were angry

The Brighton boos were a rarity in them days. Lodz were applauded off weeks later, an event they and their fans still talk about. Nicholas favoured the London nightlife and was pretty much a flop on the pitch. Are you a Manc? Usually people who come on with 'Scouse' this and that are bitter Mancs from that era.
