Hi Collin I agree with you that casinos exploit people through various means. I agree it is a sad miserable perspective for a casino operator to function. In ways that could be labeled sociopathic with a good dose of covert hostility. I also agree taking their money is a smart, prudent and responsible thing to do. So... what are we to do about it besides exploit them anyway we can? By winning money off casinos that cuts a very small percentage out of their marketing budget as well as the other expenses they incur to keep the addicts walking through their doors. How do you or anyone reduce or eliminate the sociopathic practices of casino operators? Do you want to find new ways to educate people about the dangers of addictive slot play? How effective would a campaign like that be? Hell, we haven't even been able to get rid of 6-5 single deck games. Like I said in a previous post... paraphrased... Gambler's must take responsibility for their actions. To be a mature adult means making good choices and not disrupting ones life or the people they support financially. Every hooked losing gambler is a person living out their role as a victim. You must know yourself first and be prepared to walk when the disposable money runs out... otherwise... what follows is money lost that would have been used for life sustaining commodities. Their are no excuses for that kind of irresponsible behavior. All the best to you Collin Keep up the good work. Ted

Love your work..... I can't count thru 6/8 decks of damn cards so I look for tables w/ 4-5 players where 1-2 are betting more than all the others. Even with bad players it all helps me to slip in & win..... I look for a dealer who concentrates more on the high roller of a low bet table & I sit in the 4-5 place. It gives me better odds at breaking even or winning. This works for those who don't depend upon gambling for a payday. peace

@@tedosmundson7326 Ted gambling has been around for thousands of years and will continue as long as greed and avarice exists in humans. Collin claims to have won 600k in 15 years (40k/yr avg). For casinos this is a drop in the bucket. Casinos are more worried about crooked dealers that cost them millions than a card counter/ advantage player. Keep in mind that all systems fail eventually. How many card counter/advantage players do you know or heard of became millionaires playing.? The casinos exploit and so do they by selling books and videos on how to win by exploiting the weak and addicted players.

There is a lot in this video that is at best factually incorrect, and at worst dangerously ignorant. Casinos in most western countries must have the odds published on the table and be advertised. Casinos are not allowed to advertise their customers without explicit permission. This manifests itself in two ways, one, its why losers are not advertised on the walls and two, due to their legal responsibility to protect problem gamblers they won't even be in there. The idea that plastic chips being used to make people forget about the money is a very tired some and boring argument. It's actually mainly due to having a very clearly defined bet, that is understood by both parties, and gives both the protection required under law. The idea that casinos don't want you to find the exit is again misleading. That would break literally every fire safety law on the planet. The layout does maximise the amount of walking required, sure, but that wasn't what you said here. All in all, you just seem to be a con. Proclaiming to be the noble fighter in the battle against adversity when really it's you trying to fleece people into buying your books, or your videos etc etc. You knowingly mislead and misinform your audience to try and make an extra buck. I'd say it's sad, but, I doubt you'd care one bit.

@@andrewmartin6410 Are EFFING KIDDING ME?!?!? Are you INSANE?!?!?!?! YOU MUST BE A CASINO CEO, CHAIRMAN, MANAGER, OPERATOR, PIT BOSS OR JUST A PLAIN *SOCIOPATH* THAT IS USED TO GASLIGHTING PEOPLE. EVERYTHING you said is a LIE and is WRONG: 1. Casinos NEVER advertise odds. And they're NOT required to publish them and post them at the table. Being deceptive, as you ARE, you intentionally mislead with that comment, knowing that they must post the PAYOFF ratios on the tables so people can know what they're getting paid relative to what they bet if they actually DO win. 2. Casinos can use whomever the d*mn hell they want to on their casino walls as part of their own self-promotion as long as his / her identity is kept private. And many states with lotteries (which doesn't include Nevada) require the player's identity be released PUBLICLY, too, for said player to claim a jackpot. Although the more alert players already know it, anyone who enters the casino is giving consent to being on (at least security) camera and being recorded (the same way as on a concert / theater ticket it makes the statement that, upon entry, the attendee consents to being filmed / recorded)...especially allowed since Nevada is a one-party consent state. That being said, even though the casino is not LEGALLY required to reveal it, if that information is not made abundantly clear to the player, then *shame on the casino* , since that's about as CLASSLESS as it gets. And OBVIOUSLY it goes without saying that no casino is gonna show losers on the walls of its casinos, since it wouldn't benefit them ONE BIT. You'd have to be an IDIOT to think otherwise. 3. YES, chips are used to make people forget about the fact that they are gambling away REAL MONEY (that means CASH), along with the absence of windows and clocks...and YES they pump oxygen into the environment to give people a natural "high," the same way that McDonald's pumps the scent of beef grease into the air in AND outside their establishments to make people hungry for their "grub." 4. Casinos can't obscure their fire exits and may not try to *hide* them, but they sure as hell ain't in the advertising business either to make it easy for you to *find* them. So OF COURSE they're going to make the layout labyrinthine to make it harder to leave. 5. All in all, I've never in recent experience encountered a person *so full of sh-t* as *you* and as much of a lying, deceptive corporate con-artist. When the casino will do everything in its power to suck the average player dry of his / her money, it is VERY noble for someone to go to battle with EVIL and assist people on behalf of the players. Clearly Colin Jones is NOT looking to fleece people into buying his books or to subscribe to / join his channel if he's posting free videos on KZbin, even TRUER considering that he says he *doesn't like casinos* and is an *ally to the player* . Seriously - *who wouldn't believe him unless that "poser poster" were on the side of the casino?!?* Answer: No one. You, my friend, are as DISINGENUOUS as it gets. Wrapping up, *let me be perfectly clear.* The "Ultimate Truth" is This: THE CASINOS ARE THE MOST DISHONEST, CORRUPT, SHAMELESS, NASTY, VINDICTIVE, CUTTHROAT BUSINESS ORGANZIATIONS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH, REGARDLESS OF CITY OR COUNTRY. THEY ARE AN "ALL-CASH" BUSINESS AND WILL DO WHATEVER THEY CAN TO TAKE YOUR CASH AND MINE, HOWEVER THEY MUST. *WORST YET* : (and I will make is my LIFE MISSION to let people know this), *THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT SIMPLY FOR WINNING. LET ME REPEAT THAT...THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT...SIMPLY FOR WINNING.* So aside from all of the decor and B.S. about wanting fair players and not wanting cheats and liars and people who use crooked methods, in the end, it matters not. They HAVE no interest in playing fair and honest in the first place, never did. They are a bunch of hypocrites and crybabies, and no government, lawmaker or any other organization has any interest in intervening on behalf of people just to make sure that these establishments are keeping things fair. No surprise that people continue not to have personal *values* anymore, and if they do, that they consider something such as *dishonesty* as one of them. In *CON-Clusion* : NOW it is time to shut-up and get back to whatever you do that you consider "work." Maybe work on your LIES - since you don't tell them very convincingly, and they sure could use improvement... >:-(

You know I was a Las Vegas table games dealer for 25 years, I'm going to say something that most people probably don't consider.I never liked my job, I always felt like I was taking advantage of sick people.I'm very glad that I don't do that anymore, I don't miss it a bit. I could tell story after story right now about the horrible things I've seen on the tables as far as people losing everything they have and actually committing suicide in the end.I absolutely hate casinos,I curse the day that I ever set foot in one. The whole casino environment is poison. Do yourself a favor and stay away from it. Hoover dam is a very popular place for gamblers to visit, that's where they all jump to their deaths.

I have been a table games dealer for 15 years and couldn't have had a different experience. I have found that you get to talk to people every day and for the most part have a good day having fun with the people on the table joking around. People lose and people win, if you take your job too seriously you couldn't work anywhere. Work in a liquor store or a grocery store that sells alcohol? Be a cop that has to see a woman go back to an abusive husband? A teacher that sees a promising child lose out do to a difficult family life. There is bad with every good. I enjoyed what I did and hope to do again, I met some great people.

I was a dealer for several years and after a while I just had to get out. Most dealers want you to lose so you will leave, players hardly ever know when to leave. It seems the only time players left is when they are broke. While I was a dealer I hated casinos it was about 2 maybe 3 years after I left the casino industry I started going back and enjoying the experience again.

Blade Runner only if they tipped and left relatively quickly. If you tipped well but stayed 7+ hours I just am sick of you. Keep in mind (little known fact only dealers know) players who win whine more. “Why didn’t I get the blackjack last hand” “Why didn’t I do this yesterday/last week” oh every time someone is yelling it’s a 5$ blackjack worlds most annoying sound. You get up your polite you leave 2-5 hours I want you to come back and win. Oh we had a card counting crew I liked them always dealt slow for them.

@Blade Runner 90+% of the time not really. Dealers simply want you to play, tip, be polite and leave in a timely matter. Little known fact players who win complain more than losers. Oh yeah "Why didn't I hit that blackjack last hand" "Why couldn't this happen last week/day/month" "Finally" it is super annoying, oh the loud person yelling is a 5$ blackjack. Players winning simply do not leave, I have done a 12-16 hour session so I get it but after 6+ hours your just sick of the person no matter how cool they are. Some exceptions, senior citizens (not all) and a card counting team that was really awesome (I respected the math) plus they showed me how they did it and I might of used that method once or twice. To the card counting team I dealt slow to everyone else I was lighting fast timed dealing a 3/6 deck shoes in under 20 minutes with no mistakes. Bottom line if you want to get on a dealers good side: Be nice, polite, tip (not over tip) dealers usually make under minimum wage + tips, leave in a timely matter after 2-5 hours your just annoying. Personal opinion only, great question.

I am a semi-serious poker player and I agree with both your points. I keep data and use it to improve my performance. I am far more profitable in the 4-6 and 6-8 hour plays of poker, because 0-2 and 2-4 I am learning the table and the players, and after 8 I am tired and go on "winners tilt" - playing hands and making calls I'd not make otherwise. I set myself hourly alarms and always walk away if I hit 8 hours or I lose my maximum (2.5% of sessions). I also only ever take my maximum I'm prepared to lose in cash and a bank card (contactless for transport) that has very little money on it, instead of the savings card. I will also leave the casino if I exceed 5 buy-ins in profit, especially if I am covered by the table. Not worth KK v AA or QQ v AK mis-fortune to ruin a whole days work. I also go on a walk every 2 hours, go outside, re-think some hands, etc. Ah and lastly, have a friend or family member to discuss situations with, somebody who will tell you you've been an idiot where it's true, and congratulate you and be happy for you if you do well. The data helps keep me honest, but I find having an "auditor" especially useful to avoid temptation.

I have an amount I'm willing to spend. $100, $200, whatever. Whatever I walk in with is all I will ever spend. If I lose it, that's just how much the night cost. I usually try to keep it down to whatever I would be willing to spend on a nice dinner and a movie or what I would spend on a night out at the bar with friends. If I'm losing, I'll just bet smaller and try to drag it out and get the free drinks. If I'm winning, I will have a set % above what I walked in with where I start putting money back into my pocket that I will not touch the rest of the night. If I walk in with $200 and go up to $250, I'll throw $50 in my pocket and leave it there. Go up to $300 and I'll throw $100 in, and so on, until I have the amount I walked in with in my pocket. Then if I lose what I'm playing with, I still walk out even with what I walked in with. Then I have set intervals where I will put money back in my pocket as I go, usually every $100 or so. If I'm really having fun and am up quite a bit, I'll stash an amount I'm comfortable walking out with and start playing bigger with my table money. I don't go often, only a couple times per year, and only ever for fun. I keep a spreadsheet of every time I go. My biggest win was $7500 from $150, and my biggest loss was $250. Total I'm in the black $9235 over 11 years now.

However, I then took $50 out of it and played with $150. $150 was my gambling money and $50 was my "win it back" money. If I lost all $150 I'd take the $50 and try to win it back. If I didn't win my money back with $50, then I'm not winning it back.

Red. $800 black. Red. $1000 black. Red. $1500 black. Red. $1000 black. Red. $1200 black. Red. True story. If you win, take the money and run! Anything can happen in the short term. A very brutal, honest and accurate view of the casino business. People should study the stock market and put their money there. As long as you're patient, you'll have fun watching the ups and downs. But if done with just a little bit of education, you'll come out ahead. At typical return rates, you'll double your money every 7 years. Try that at a casino. You can always get your "fix" by playing simulated online casino games without spending any money.

Couple more things: * The air conditionaire in the casino is so refreshing * There is a max bet for each table to restrict the max double bet you can bet (if not, bacarrat would be a really profitable game) * There is point system giving you free hotel. Big discount on restaurant etc so you would play a bit longer Go to casino only when you want to have fun, have a budget, the goal is the enjoyment that came out after the winning, and of course the adrenalin and the activity itself. If your goal is to make it as an income, you better be a pro skilled gambler with a good bankroll management otherwise goodluck on losing your saving, house, and family.

I am a table games dealer, in my own experience, (keep in mind I cannot speak for all casino’s) there is no malice to what we do whatsoever, it’s just a bunch of people trying to do their job and do it right. Gambling is an addiction that we are in fact trained to handle properly as opposed to trying to “milk everyone for their money” we do everything within our power to convince people to LEAVE WHEN THEY’RE UP! But they seldom do, the casino environment itself, combined with an addiction to gambling and a lack of self control from weak minded people is what keeps the casino business going. And you forgot a key element of all of this. As dealers WE WANT YOU TO WIN! We pool all our tips together to make our paychecks so if no one wins, we don’t get tipped and make $6 an hour. Therefore the person with the most control over what happens to your money, and wants you to win more than anything is right there at the table with you. Trust and believe we want you to win

Another very important point: if you are removed from the premises as a card counter or win too much, don't expect to be able to set foot into a different casino for a good long time, if ever again. @H D First, disguises don't work with today's highly advanced facial recognition software. Second, the costs and risks involved with creating several passable fake IDs that would fool casinos' very sophisticated ID verification systems to pull this off, not to mention obtaining the necessary assets to play high stakes, would far outweigh anything you might be able to win. @@tubeguy4066 It sounds glamorous but with everything going your way you will only have a 1% advantage. The part of blackjack NOBODY can beat long-term is when you bust first, and the dealer also busts, YOU LOSE!! Another bad thing is the count might be in your favor for awhile, at the BEGINNING of the game and you are not making big scores. Don't say a VERY experienced student and player of the game didn't warn you!
@andrewmccullough559
@andrewmccullough559 Жыл бұрын
@@clydeb7713Have you worked out how much money you can make in the long run off of a 1% advantage? Quick math: 1% EV on bets in the hundreds of dollars, which is possible with a large bankroll - 1% of $500 = $5/bet, at 50 to 100 bets per hours = $250-500/hr EV. The nice thing about EV? Play long enough and manage your risk of ruin, and it's when not if you make the money. Second: your point about the player busting first is true, but it's already accounted for in the house edge, as well as the 1% player edge you cited, which is indeed possible with counting cards. Finally, your point about losing money at the beginning of the shoe, or whenever the deck is cold, likewise is true - but misleading! Player has the edge around 30% of the time when playing the shoe start to finish, but their EV is so much higher in those positive counts than it is lower in the negative counts. The 1% player edge is not the edge during that 30% of the time spent in a positive count, it's the overall edge, accounting for the time spent in negative counts. So your point here ends up being a point in favor of counting: by back-counting and "Wonging in", i.e. playing only when the count is good, the player gets more than 1% edge, and can make even more money in the long run than they can from a 1% edge.

I don't need the money I just love the idea of taking theirs...I was playing a 8 deck a week ago for the first time and I only had one shoe out of 8-10 that I got a good positive count of a true 10.... I was really hesitant and didn't bet like I should have but still made some money... I didn't have the nerve to raise to much with the fear of getting backed off. I suppose in time I'll not worry as much. I didn't want it to go that way so soon...In hind sight i felt I could have smoked them in that moment. I will remember that as lesson learned . FYI the shoe was half gone with that count

Casinos, sportsbooks, and any business like that - they don't want to keep you around once they've confirmed that you're a winning player (or at least have the belief that you are). Honestly, that's my goal with the betting - to get banned by the bookies. After that, I'll figure out how to keep doing it, but I want to be so successful with it the companies acknowledge that (by banning me).

Collin, I just got back from Vegas this weekend and made some solid money ($410 dollars in 8 hours of play for one day, $10 minimum bets) for my first time being an advantage player. I also discovered that most all casinos play with 8 deck shoes. My question is, is it harder to win with 8 deck shoes and do you have any tips on how to prepare for this? I found that the running count and true count didn’t go up significantly and because I was used to 6 deck shoes and it took me longer to divide by more decks. I also discovered that it felt like only Fremont Street felt like the only place that still had 3 to 2 blackjack. The strip is a joke if you are looking for any action there. Thanks again for all that you do to wanna put the advantage back in the players hands! I had a lot of fun putting my training and experience to work!

+Rick Vaughan I play Vegas quite frequently, so I could give you some pointers. Unless you are playing $25 min bets, you're not gonna find too much $10 min 3/2 blackjack on the strip. The strip is one big tourist trap, and everything, including their games, have some of the worst odds of any games in Vegas. I would steer clear of the strip playing small stakes. Only places that offer low stakes with good rules are Cromwell, Flamingo, and sometimes Harrah's. Weekends are the worst times to go, try to get there during weekdays, and especially slower times of the year. You're also right about 6 deck having a higher WR versus 8 deck, especially when wonging. But the strip and downtown are far from all the casinos with playable blackjack in Vegas. Find the "Locals" casinos and you'll find a treasure trove of awesome games. Some of my favorites are the Rio, Palms, Red Rock, Stratosphere, Rampart, Suncoast, Fiesta, Santa Fe Station; not to mention some great places in Henderson like Green Valley, Sunset Station, Boulder Station. All 6 deck 3/2 games. with 83% pen or better. Very playable especially during slower times. I always tell people who want to play in Vegas to know that the Strip and Downtown are not the only places to play. There are over 100 casinos in the surrounding Vegas area. Do some research and you'll have a much bigger net to cast. Good luck!
@laloeastside9669
@laloeastside9669 5 жыл бұрын
Let me also add that 8 deck is still profitable, and a lot of Vegas casinos do have them with good pen and good rules. So work on your 8 deck true count conversion. You shouldn't approach a game you are not 100% confident in playing. Saying you're having a hard time doing the division means that you may very well be making mistakes. 8 deck does require a little more brain power to correctly convert, so work on it before you play another 8 deck game. As I noted in my other reply, there are tons of 6 deck games in Vegas you can shred if that's where you're more comfortable at.

8 decks are slightly worse than 6 decks in terms of EV. But not much. My best advice is to wong in... don't play below a true 1.5. That's fairly easy to do in LV. Also, make sure you're playing 3:2 tables. =)

I know you don’t like practicing with a shoe but it’s worked for me and I just ordered an 8 deck shoe to help practice on these rules at home before I go back in July! And I agree 100% NEVER PLAY 6 to 5 blackjack. In fact I walked thru Harrahs and a guy hit a blackjack with 100 bucks on the table and I told him, “Hey did you know that you could have been winning more money if the casino wasn’t greedy and cheated you out of a fair 3 to 2 game?” Guy was a little thrown off by that and looked at the dealer and started asking questions and I kept walking.

I enjoyed this video and agree with everything. I used to play blackjack and got quite good at it and developed a strategy which shifted the advantage in my favor slightly. After winning for a while, I was banned from playing blackjack at that casino. I went to another one and again, after a while was banned from playing blackjack. It didn't take too long for me to get either banned or kicked out of every casino in the city. It was a small city, so only about a dozen casino's. Casino's will let losers play all day long, but will shutdown winners fairly quickly. I would only count two things, how many cards were dealt and how many of them were 10 - A. Just wanted to know if the shoe was heavy or light.

There is an argument to be made that technically you can predict a roulette table in theory anyway. I only know of one professor that succeeded in a spectacular way. So over time, the ball that gets rolled creates little scratches and dents throughout the wheel. Over enough time and a pattern does begin form. It's still more luck than anything but it does sorta ...I don't know how to word it. ?Narrow? Down what the outcome could potentially be.

I completely understand your line of argument here but for a VERY few people, Casinos provide exactly what they're "paying" for. No one walks in to a strip club and thinks I'm going to walk out with a fatter bank roll. As long as you walk into the casino with the mentality I'm here to be entertained and willing to spend "x" amount of money to do that, you'll be alright.

@MaxSterling01 4 жыл бұрын
Not as much as they use too. You have to spend so much money before they give a drink anymore. Sitting at the bars where video poker is played, some casinos have a light system and when you spend so much a green light comes on and the bartender will give you a drink. You also have to be playing so many hands per hours as well. If I wanted to drink I would go to one casino all the time and plop in my 20. Of course I got to know the bartenders really well and would actually tip very well. I could sit there with 20 in the machine and drink way more than 100 in a night :) But I was local and I really tipped well. They would light up when they saw me and it was a slow night as they knew the tips would be good. They would also usually have a drink waiting for me as I stepped up to the bar. Would play my serious games first then go relax.

I am a dealer and I like casinos. If I didn't I would had never gotten into advantage play. Of course casinos want your money, they are a business and they are in entertainment. Many players love the experience and the entertainment they get from going to a casino.
