Hands down Steve that built looks like a factory SS sport truck. Not only the pistons are forcing downward but also when accelerating the crank shaft is twisting thus breaking the weakest point. If they put out some sort of hope that would be the best medicine for patients. I’m tempting to tear down my L200 because I have had any answers after a week and a half already. I know when I share ideas with Mona she gets back quick but for this maybe is an executive decision she needs to wait on but even if that’s the case they should say something along those lines instead we are out in the dark.

Yes my twin has never run properly at all, so they just bring out a new engine and we are forgotten about, I think this could happen here, I believe the L400 will be scrapped and a new one will be released

Their L200 specs on one of their web pages say "Cylinder Diameter: 17.0mm, Piston Diameter: 16.62mm" what on earth? Did they never see the standard way is to say "Bore and Stroke" and to define it correctly is the way the world does it? "Cylinder Diameter, Piston Diameter" boils down to the same thing, so what about the stroke?

Yes, i was going to buy an L400, but now will take on the job of building my own version (have lathe and mill). The crank and cam lack center support, and flex. Seeing how irritatingly bad their English is on their website, and with no effort to fix that, I was wondering if they are capable of any development fixes, on the engines. The design seems to be made by a 3d cad capable guy that do not have much knowledge of model engines. He saw the small 15cc seal 4 cylinder (e.t. westbury design) has only 2 end bearings, so he thought his design be ok, the stresses on the side valve seal engine are different, rpm is lower etc. , and the seal crank design is more accommodating of flex. Some basics in the L400 design like the lack of center bearings, totally wrong combustion chambers, and other details points to little "real" understanding of model engines. Seems the only reason they are in business is that they have ways to put 3d designs to CNC cheaply, which enables them to push out (undeveloped) products.

Did they never see the standard way is to say "Bore and Stroke" and to define it correctly is the way the world does it? "Cylinder Diameter, Piston Diameter" boils down to the same thing, so what about the stroke?

Yes I think you are right all cad and not a lot of knowledge on real engine design 😫

Well said Steve, I have some ideas to test also but it involves a lot of labor hours and at this point I am waiting for a response from Toyan to give them a chance to address the issue. in my next video I will mention them.

Thanks Dennis, I sure you can tell I’m very disappointed, like I said we are in limbo with no word as to what Toyan are going to do,I doubt if Toyan know themselves. 😔

I really believe Dennis Toyan will scrap this engine and bring out a new one, but I’m not sure what will happen to all the guys that have bought this L400, it could of not been tested at all or they would of not released it, would they 🤔

Terrible bit of design, surely shows a complete lack of understanding of the forces involved. I think a centre main bearing would be a substantial improvement, and ideally a five bearing crank would be best for a high revving engine. I'd bet they haven't even considered torsional vibration either. Edit: just read comment below, do the cams really not have a centre bearing either? Shocking.
