Two years later, I bought this camera because of this review. The image quality is absolutely insane, and I have never noticed the rolling shutter. If you are properly framing your shots, you will never notice it! Even now, I would highly recommend picking this camera up second-hand (as opposed to the pro). It is so awesome! the sensor is awesome!

I am a youth pastor in east Texas. I have spent the past year trying to grow our social media presence in order to provide teenagers with healthy content to view. The pocket still cannot compete with the 16.5+ stops on the RED. The industry is changing a bit but the RED and other professional cinema cameras still have a significant benefit over these smaller cameras/DSLRs. You can do more with less on the RED, but you pay for that benefit. There are also codec benefits to the RED but most people don't care enough about the particulars to understand why price tags are the way they are.

The Blackmagic Pocket 6k is amazing with Blackmagic RAW especially for only $2495. You should get a Blackmagic Video Assist with 2500nits of brightness for daylight shoots. You won't regret switching to Davinci Resolve Studio definitely the best color grading/video editing software.

@@cmdr.shepard baselight is a minority in big production, it's mostly used in commercials, resolve is used in all high end movies, all films that won oscars was graded in Resolve. Dune, Tenet, Joker etc etc.

The camera has a built in focus assist that highlights every sharp edge in a good visible color. So it's easy to see whats in fcous. Oh and get a lens with a large focus adjustment range.

Lots of practise mate. Also focus peaking/assist is a bit of a double edged sword, yes it makes it easy to pull focus, but looking at over time can actually make it harder to get perfect focus becuase you're relying on it, from my experience and professional 1st AC (assistant cameras)/ Focus pullers that i've talked to have said that looking at those highlitghed edges for too long will make the image look soft to your eyes when you turn off the focus peaking. Which means its now even harder to pull focus. Just practise and over time you'll get used to it!
