Blackmagic Design Ursa Mini 4k vs Samsung Nx1 (Part 2)

A second comparison between the Blackmagic Design Ursa Mini and the Samsung Nx1. This time the Atomos Shogun was included in the comparison. Now we compare Nx1 h.265 footage, Nx1 + Atomos Shogun prores HQ 422, and Ursa Mini prores HQ 422. Everything was shot in 4k resolution.

Thanks for these 2 videos. Could you share your picture profile details of the NX1? Your NX1 color looks on point, which is hard to get with it's buggy white balance

I shot in Gamma DR with Saturation = 0, Sharpness = -10 & Contrast = -5. Custom white balancing every shot and attentive color correction in post help with getting good colors too. I hope this helps.

The problems you had with the nx1 are due to your lack of knowledge of the camera. You can expand the dynamic range of the picture, the limit is the data rate of your sd card. Being a fan of the NX1 It was a little bit annoying every time you said you were surprised by the quality of the camera. I own an NX500 and I have never seen a sharper image and I got it on an extreme discount. Thank you for your videos.

NX1 and NX500 have limited dynamic range in the video, its best just to get your exposure correctly from the get go, both these cameras absolutely despise a dark image, they will chew it up if you underexpose, always expose like for shadows on these cameras. There is a HDR mode, but in all my years of owning NX1 and NX500, I never really tried it much.

The skin tones from the NX1 are an absolute disaster. I was a big fan of the camera at its release, but wow.
