I saw the Pyxis at IBC this year and I was pretty underwhelmed, although I am fairly biased against Blackmagic cameras. Nevertheless, I'm a sucker for both rig building videos and Threefold videos in general, so there you go, have some watch time and a comment. New set looks dope by the way, you guys did a really good job on the studio!

Check out the Ursa cine LF, most powerful camera on the market right now
@JulioBHJ13 күн бұрын
@@Samvisualarts Yeah I saw that one at IBC as well and apart from the huge image circle, it's still not my cup of tea. For Threefold the Ursa LF would be a huge beast, especially with the Leitz Thalia lenses that were showcased with it, but sadly not for me.

Just want to thank you all at Threefold and all you early adopters for beta testing the PYXIS for me. It will be nice and good to go when we pick some up in a year!

The nisi’s incompatibility with the mofage was the deal breaker for me. When with the Arles and I love them. The breakthrough is just soooo much more expensive. And the mofage has solid ND’s in addition to their VND which is nice

Yeah that rear protrusion is a real headache with the NiSi's. We love the size of the NiSi's, but if the Arles would have been out when we purchased the Nisi''s we probably would have gone that route instead. They look like incredible lens.

nice review, do you have any projects, even fake ones/specs, shoted with this setup?

Yep! We used it on a spot for a Health Center just a few weeks ago.

Great video! Can you please tell me what 2-pin LEMO to DTAP cable you're using?

Thanks! Here's the LEMO cable we used in this video. amzn.to/3OjBHvC

Is the USB-C port the only way to trigger recording and does it work with the monitor port too? We use the Tilta Nucleus-M system for focus and we're looking at the Pyxis as a 2025 purchase.

Given that the PYXIS is actually cheaper than a fx3. Would you recommend this body for an beginner-intermediate filmmaker, rather than the fx3.
@threefoldtv16 күн бұрын
It really depends on what type of content you shoot. If you absolutely need autofocus and something small the fx3 is great. If those aren't that important i think its hard to go wrong with the PYXIS. The BRAW codec is a far superior codec over anything in the fx3 and you get a larger open gate sensor with the PYXIS as well. We also love the UI of Blackmagic OS. I could go on and on but overall (autofocus aside) I think the PYXIS is a much more versatile "cinema" camera than the fx3.
@TLFILMS16 күн бұрын
@@threefoldtv definetly the pyxis rather than fx3: images. Sony is so digital, menu, cables management, everything. Pyxis for the win

Damn that camera is sexy just like that. Nothing more is needed. Love it. I'm doing mine like this in the future.

Would you choose this camera over the Fx6?
@threefoldtv15 күн бұрын
For the type of work we do, yes. If autofocus and built in NDs is important then the fx6 is a great camera! What keeps us using Blackmagic cameras is ultimately BRAW (and how well it works with Resolve )and their awesome camera OS.

Build quality is fantastic means nothing to me. Think canon and water resistance. Where are the fans. Screen protection. Buttons and dials?? Does he mean it looks heavy and metallic? Qc of screens? Etc??

Nice and detailed video. I build shoulder Rig also without using any cage system. Tho camera kinda doesn’t need it. Pyxis has this rigid core, so for my production purposes and documentaries, my rig build is perfect. Feel free to check it out on my channel and let me know your thoughts guys. Appreciate your work sharing your experience from production company stand point. Cheers! 👋

I’m not a fan of cages for this camera, seems to defeat the purpose of the design. I think people who get this camera come from cameras that have needed cages, so it’s just a change in philosophy IMO.
@simonmeyer_director10 күн бұрын
I think you are not really understanding the purpose of this camera and its design. This camera is made to be rigged up. Pretty much unusable without a cage
