CHECK OUT THE KICKSTARTER PAGE: bit.ly/DungeonCraft_KS I'm amazed how many comments are showing up about cutting them out ruining the thing on the other side....or why are they double sided if you are cutting them out......come on guy! Is it because at some points you're turning more than one page at a time? Because I want to believe you, it looks and sounds great, but at certain points when you turn a page the opposite face would definitely ruin the previous page.
@stevesmith59635 жыл бұрын
I was initially thinking the same thing about the "ruining", I even re-watched the video to see. I think it just looked that way because in the beginning as you were flipping through it, the pages weren't concurrent!? so it looked like they weren't lining up correctly.

When I was in the Army many years ago, back in the 80s, I learned that I could protect my maps and other training materials I use in the field with clear shelving paper so when I got home I covered all of my RPG maps. I had half-dozen poster sized city maps and I used clear shelving paper to laminate all of them. Aside from being water resistant, you can also write on them with erasable markers (check first to make sure). Anyway, I think this process would work well with something like this. Remove the entire sheet from the book, cut your shelving paper big enough to fold over one edge so you can do both sides, place the paper on a smooth flat surface and peel back about an inch of the protective layer on your shelving paper. Stick just this narrow edge to your table and push the edge of your graphic to the adhesive's edge. Then, with the back of a spoon or a roller, slowly start pushing the shelving paper over the graphic as you pull the protective sheet on the other side. Go slow and when you get to the edge, flip your graphic and cover that side. Once the shelf paper is applied, use a razor or a hobby knife to cut around the edges of the image you want to cut out. Do BOTH sides, then cut it out and trim it. I used this process to laminate an entire Ranger Handbook 30-years ago so I could use it as a training aide and it still looks ... well, strange, but it serves its purpose.

I bought the $30 book, at Emerald City Comicon, a few months ago and I love it. They hadn't begun ths Kickstarter yet and the book was unbound. Although I build 3d terrain, I really like this set for travel purposes. I highly recommend it, especially for those who can't/don't want to spend big $ for expensive terrain.
@travisshallenberger94865 жыл бұрын
Dude, I ain't even 2 minutes in and I'm sold. $30 bucks for something like this is a great idea, and a heck of a bargain. EDIT: Now that I've watched the whole thing, I'm even more impressed. The monster tokens are a huge plus. One thing that is sorely lacking in tabletop RPGs is affordability. Not everyone has $40 to plunk down for a few orc soldiers that will die almost as soon as they're encountered. I think I will back this product no problem. (Also "and you just throw out this one ring." Yeah right. Like it's that easy. Just ask Frodo.)

I hate that I never have the right miniatures on hand for what the party is fighting. Years ago I bought Descent: Journeys in the Dark and I use those miniatures for almost everything. I can either use those or pay $30 for two of the 15 orcs I'll need for an encounter in a module.

If you do not have a color scanner, get one! Scan the pages, print them onto full-sheet label paper, cut, attach to cardboard, use, re-use. If you lose it, print another copy. This way, you can have as many of each as you desire, or need. Your original will remain intact, on the shelf. My color laser printer has a built-in scanner/copier, which outputs either B&W copies, color copies, as well as shrinking and enlarging. Technology is your friend. Cheers!!

I've got the 2E that comes in a box, very nice product. I've noticed when you flip the houses over, the chimney changes side from one to the other, but that's about the only thing I could find and that probably doesn't matter unless some char stand holding a rope and another us that rope to enter via the chimney, and then we all have to move to align when we flip the house ^^

Love it, good that most of it double sided, that was my 1st concern, if you cut something out was it going to ruin the image on the back? But seems they thought that through, also looks like more of the reverse images are related to each other, ie: roof on one side, interior on the other. You could lay out a village with only the roof showing then as your abventurers entire, just flip it over. Or with the tents, you're sound asleep, then Deathwing flies past and torches your camp, flip them over and 🔥 great idea and easy to store in a box or even an expandable folder with tabs, label the tabs terrain, buildings, people etc.
@rpeterson91825 жыл бұрын
Or store them in a three-ring binder with clear plastic page protectors for the large pieces, and clear plastic photo holders (2 or 3 per page) for medium pieces. You could also get baseball card holder clear plastic sheets (9 per page) for really little stuff (camp fires, tree stumps, goblins, etc.).

Geek Tank Games had a recent KS similar to this for tabletop tokens, although as separate sheets that come in their own themed, resealable bag (e.g., dungeon set or rooftops). They were more expensive but die cut saving lots of time. I got them especially for running at cons. Only downside is that they’re glossy so will be hard to stay put on a glossy battlemat like a Pathfinder FlipMat or D&D Adventure Grid. Will likely use a removable glue square/dot to hold them in place.

Sometimes that winds up being being a mess though as pieces start coming loose just from you browsing through the pages, but I see what you're thinking. Most of the lines are straight, so get yourself a cheap paper cutter and you can zip right through it

Grabbed one of these at ECCC. At my table we just had everyone spend 5 minuets cutting them out while people got drinks etc. The die-cuts end up leaving little bits around the edges and not looking as good. At first I didn't like that each page had a matching theme on both sides, because it means you can't use an entire dungeon set, or outdoor set, or town set without having some of the potential features face down. But while the idea of a vast labyrinth is appealing, I find that smaller dungeons with unique challenge encounters play better.

Also cruise DriveThruRPG and look up creators like Okumarts, Dave Graffem Models, Heroic Maps, and maybe a dozen more that I think highly of. For the price of this book you can score a lot more content. The down side about double sided maps is you can't glue them to a base material to make them more substantial, print and play content is way more versatile in that you get what you want instead of an assortment of things you may not use. Cool book, but if you are going to delve into cardstock terrain you should check out the plethora of options that have been around for a while.
