I have about 25 of them and one of the things I did was invest in some chisel Point Sharpies. I use brown, grey, and blue markers. So before I assemble them I Mark all the cardboard edges that aren't finished, such as wooden stair railings, roof edges, and the actual construction tabs that stick out of the walls and roof sections, definitely gives it a more professional look, and actually hides the tabs.

I have a ships (and did some naval battles with boarding actions in my games, the only thing is better not to attach sails, to prevent interfer with miniatures) and buildings. And i want to infom you - they started 2 new model series especially for tabletop gamers. "Dungeon 3D" - modular dungeon (not so fun to assemble (because of modularity), but wery good to play with), and "Magic Kingdoms" - houses and ruins but with increased usability for tabeltop gaming needs. These kinda look a bit small for 28mm heroic scales but for filling out a map with terrain for AOS I could totally see it working. I would hate to see what some enthusiastic dice rolls or just knocking these off the table would do to them but with the cheap price they could be replaced fairly easy I guess. With as cheap and simple as 3d printers are getting though I don't know if the price of printing your own terrain can be matched anymore! Many sites have free files so you can print walls and buildings for pocket change now.

You can disassemble / assemble no more than 2-4 times. Cardboard locks work on friction, after several pulling out the elastic elements are jammed, the lock ceases to hold. You make mention during the video that these are scaled for 25/28mm yet on the Amazon site it states that they are scaled at 1/87 which is the American railroad HO scale, OO in UK. If the 1/87 scale that Amazon quotes is true then the doorways are going to be way to small for 25/28mm mini's. Can I ask were you just willing to compromise over the scale being out as it was just running a game for kids and can you confirm or deny if they are out of scale for true 25/28mm Mini's?
@QuestingBeast5 жыл бұрын
The Russian store lists them as 25/28mm. I went through my models with a ruler and found that the doorways are about 30mm high. Here's an image of a Mage Knight figure and one of the included paper figures for scale. imgur.com/a/dp2MyWs

The interiors seem an afterthought in regards to gameplay as it would be difficult to have people look in and move their chars. The levels and or roofs should be removable similar to the how the tower is constructed. But in all reality you can find paper craft ones online for free and you can use heavy card stock and a laser printer and they take about the same amount of time to construct. I did a bunch for city games for d&d and battle tech

Thank you, Ben. I've always loved your eye for stuff in the OSR, but - honestly - I've been a little cold on the whole scene for a couple years. Since Dolmenwood, not much has perked my interest in settings or books - I've grown weary of LotFP's recent releases, found too much repetition in 'wyrd fantasy' tropes, and whereas I've really got into some of the niche products you've reviewed - much of the offerings just seem like more of the same 'different', so to speak. THIS, however, is DIFFERENT. Cheap terrain? GOOD TERRAIN FOR CHEAP? You just never see it, because we've been groomed to want our Dwarven Forge and ridiculously time consuming builds - whether they be paper, foam, or damned Popsicle stick. ArcKnight caught me interest, as have MANY paper mini PDF companies - but, this, well is different. Thanks for pushing forward into something that the OSR isn't comfortable addressing that goes back a long way in the hobby. Still Watching!

I got the stables one and they're really beautiful however, be warned, they're NOT 28mm. They're mote like 18-20mm. Normal D&D minis look huge and don't fit in the doors. Amazon is like 20$ the Russian website is like 10$ --but the shipping is going to be about 30$ (or more depending) so if you avoid certain models that cost more to ship (such as the ruined castle) and get a large order, you can save a lot by ordering from the Russian website-- (so if you spend more than 30$, you'll save about 50% on every additional item you order in one order.) I might order the Ruined castle from amazon, since that one shoots the shipping cost up to like 90$ on the russian website for some reason.

These are not painted. They are printed. The texture is made using a stamp, similar to what is used to cut out the printed, and stamped, cardboard models. It ain't cheap to make such die cutters and texture stamps... Very impressive how little they charge per unit, but I prefer to print out PDF building designs, on full-sheet label paper. I then apply them to MDF, and assemble them: no painting required, but assembly techniques require a lot of improvising. My technique is more work than cardstock, or even these, but it is incredibly durable. I'm a fantasy wargamer, so my terrain pulls double-duty: RPG sessions, when necessary; and tabletop wargames (more often than RPG's, by a long shot). The prices are good, but I agree, the cardboard tabs will not last too terribly long, being pulled in/out. It is paper and cardboard, after all. I would suggest you keep them in plastic tubs, fully assembled. Using the interiors is not really a benefit, IMO, but they're pretty. I prefer a vinyl battlemap for my RPG sessions. Much faster, more versatile, but it requires vastly more imagination and suspension of disbelief. Cheers!
