Many thanks for the lessons in tarp management. I heard your comment about hairbands and was wary of the shock cord hairbands that I used to use. Now I use the silicone hairbands that come in an array translucent pastel colors and opaque black. I didn't have any shock cord so I tried them when deploying on a windy day. The silicone bands are are remarkably stretchy and resilient especially if you put the cip on them and slip the end of the loop thru the grommet (or the tensioning loop) and clip it again to get four elastic strands between the guy and the tarp. Without clips they will also hold a toggle and if you use a second separately to bind the cord bundle you alway have a backup. If they fly away as rubber bands may do, they colored ones are easier to find. So ... that's my long hair offering in returning thanks for the your dedicated guidance.

Cool. I just use a camouflaged poly tarp from Walmart. I roll it up with lines and stakes in the middle. I use 1/4 " Schock cord to keep it together.

Your explanation and reasoning is Spot on as usual. Thank You. One Wind makes a Snakeskin for tarps. JUST SAYING. I store my tarp the same as you but keep the Dutch clip Stingers for the ridgeline in the fat end. ( not a continues ridgeline) But do carry one also. Roll it up like a Cinnabon and use a Bushcraft zip tie to hold the roll together. (round and flat) Stakes separate since I have time in the wind while the tarp is in the snakes skin.

Start at the corner and simply stuff it. Rolling or folding creases it in the same places time and again, causing the materials and coatings to break down and causing leaks. Stuffing never folds in the same place. I do this with my sleeping bags and tarps.

Another fine video Blackie ! I'll for sure remember this when I get my tarp. I just got a brand new unissued French Army F-2 nylon tent. And it deploys very well. I'm going to break it out this weekend and do my lines the same way. I'm just waiting for my seam-seal to come in. I'll have a tarp (or at least a poncho) just in case. Oh BTW the closed captioning has you welcoming us to "Down and dirty WITCHcraft" - thought you might like to know - the problem is with KZbin, NOT you !
