Great demonstration of the versatility of your Blackbird Haversack. On most summer day outings to the woods, I go lite in my haversacks load, but I maintain an lightweight overnight capability as well. More than once, I’ve found the need to make camp and stay put until sunrise. Simple snacks and meals, a minimum of 32-ounce water bottle, small first aid kit, a fire starting kit, a camp cup with lid, both an fixed blade and a pocket knife, a 8’x10’ poly tarp, cordage, and a lite weight hammock with tree straps. More than enough to make it through a night in the woods. Mr. Thomas, your willingness to share your knowledge and experience is greatly appreciated by guys like me who desire to get outside, but have to work within a budget as far as gear goes. Thank you and have a blessed day. - Tennessee Smoky

I need to find a decent hammock, that'll handle 400-450 lbs., and a good tarp. Thinking about doing a bed-sheet oilcloth, about 12×12.
@gregsanderson24702 жыл бұрын
I weighted In (before cancer) at 250. Which is about max on a single hammock. So I suggest a two person hammock. A 12x12 is big enough to cover you, me and the guy next door. Try a roll of plastic first to get the size you want. Before making up your finished tarp. Use round stones and soft shackles to pitch it, in different ways. Cheers 🍻

I like this haversack but I need a gusset on the bottom section main pocket of the sack plus four d-rings on the bottom attached heavey duty wise along with the zippered lid pocket can it be made like that? I k ow this is your product so it is just a suggestion. Btw I love your channel and learn a lot that I use, plus I also love military surplus not only because of cost but how rugged it is and have used it for years after getting out of the Marines. Please keep up the good work. Also are you going to do any more on your channel on black powder revolvers and cattle mans carbine in the same caliber also how do you feel about the kirst conversion system for them?

what you talk about is a knapsack version that allows a bedroll on bottom and easy to carry with shoulder straps or like the modern sling shoulder bags . i am working to create a knapsack in the future but at this time i am not building one

@@keithmoore5306Blackie made a LOVELY video on how to make a hobo reel out of a tin can. I adapted his design a little and now I have 2 cans stacked head-to-toe. The handle extends into the bottom can and both the top and bottom can hold a lot of stuff, even with the handle. The top can is smaller. It's the can with the fishing line wrapped around it and the leader system tucks into the top can and then the plastic lid goes on. The bottom can detaches entirely and can be used as a boiling vessel. It has holes near the rim for a wire bail. I sprayed the outside with RustOleum to keep it nice. The top can is covered with blue gorilla tape to protect and give a little softness for the line to bit into. The whole thing fits into a bag made of two towels sewn together with a sleeve at the top in case I want to hang it on my belt as a foraging bag. The whole wrapped cylinder hangs on my belt... But the original idea is from Blackie. Blackie, why are you called Blackie?
