This is a rare live recording of Prince in concert. Almost no quality HD footage of Prince's older material exists because he died just as HD was really taking off. This is a clip from the "Welcome to America" concert tour in 2011 at Madison Square Garden in New York City NYC. I was there as a press reviewer & was there super early and got to meet Prince for all of about a minute or two. He started the conversation with me while in tech rehearsal sound check and said to me, "now THAT'S a cool hat!" I'll never forget it! I replied "Prince, I don't ask much, but PLEASE... 1999.... can you play 1999?" He had sown the song off and that he was never going to play it, not only did he play it, but HE OPENED WITH IT!!!!! Followed by Little Red Corvette & The Beautiful Ones! While this looks like the concert close this was JUST the first 3 songs! I had a press pass so this is a review and covered under fair use KZbin!
Here's my review - The best Prince concert I have ever been too. Purely Awesome & I got to meet him. He opened with 1999 and told me - "Now that's a cool hat!" I'll never forget it. Enjoy!
Despite how it looks, this is not the end, but the OPENING of the concert, unlike previous years where he didn't sing his classics, he OPENED with 1999, Little Red Corvette, & The Beautiful Ones - which features Misty Copeland - considered one if not the top dancers in the world (voted time magazines 100 most influential people in the world)
This is the same concert where Prince kicked Kim Kardashian off the stage yelling "Get off the stage!" I was the one who provided that clip to news stations but most people didn't have HD at the time.

I saw this concert at the Meadowlands Arena (Izod arena).. First time seeing Prince and by far one of the best performer in concert I ever saw live! He gave almost 4 hours of his music including a small intra appearance with the opening band and closed with a bunch of encore.. But at the Meadowlands performance he opened up with "Let's go crazy".. The stage was completely dark in the beginning as he announced the words "dearly beloved" a few times.. Crowd went crazy! Stage lit up and song started.. Special guest was with Shelia E. After the half. Then at the end of course "Purple Rain".. the best part with closing with purple rain, he had a gospel band in the background dressed in purple gowns singing the chorus part. But the crowd didn't know it until the light shined on them.. it was so well orchestrated, each and every song! Was amazing! This man truly loved and appreciated his fans.. I've never witnessed and realized how unbelievable he is playing that guitar! May he rest in peace..

I agree. I got to meet him for a minute. The key was to not try to meet him. He yelled "now THAT's a HAT!" at me as I was setting up cameras. I turned around, and instead of being starstruck said, "Prince... open with 1999 already for the HAT..... please?!" He gave me that weird one eye cringe Prince look and never did I think he was going to do it.

I heard about this, first of all Prince was a nut, his one child who died he wouldn’t admit to snd tortured the woman who gave birth to him Misty is an extraordinary dancer and I cry daily about all of the talent that was never allowed to blossom due to slavery and inequality.
