Great stuff, guys. I've never seen real snow. I imagine it loses its wow factor after a lifetime of snowy winters, but I'd love for South Australia to get a good blanketing one year so I can go out and camp in it. We do get cold, like in the 0 degrees range, but it's a dry, desert cold.

For me, I never tire of seeing fresh snow. It really is a special event. But, keep in mind, I don't live somewhere that has feet upon feet of snow all winter. I really hope you get to see snow in your lifetime. -Krik

Another great video guys! I invite you to Canada to film a sequel called: comfort in the extreme cold. Where temperatures drop to -31F (-35C) and snow is at least 4ft deep! Continue the good work.
@BlackOwlOutdoors9 жыл бұрын
BeOutDoors Ha. You can keep the extreme cold all to yourself. But thanks for the offer! When does the snow finally start to melt for you? -Krik
@GrigorsMasterfulMinutes9 жыл бұрын
We are March 13th and there's still no sign of this white stuff melting, with the forecast calling for some more snow tomorrow!

Awesome vid. Firestarting aside..I LOVE thrift stores...or Op Shops as we call them in Oz. I probably spend $200 a month on average but come out with outdoor gear and general clothes/workwear worth $500, presents for the Family and friends and general items to gift or simply giveaway....the whole time knowing I am getting a dreamlike deal...while stocking up we are also apparently helping people to eat because I'm told by staff for every $3 spent at Sacred Heart a meal is provided to someone in need. Just hope they spend it wisely. Thrifty Business. Stay warm guys. I will try to stay cool...around 40 degrees celcius for the next week here in OZ.

What is the jacket you're wearing in this vid Kirk? It looks incredibly warm and comfy.
@silverhare7011 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with hemlock. You mentioned that it was fine for a basic warming fire at your day camp but would be a poor choice if you were going to sustain the fire overnight. What makes it a poor choice?

very helpful videos, but i'd prefer you get more to the point. too much cinematic shenanigans(zooming, fading in and out for 10 seconds here n 10 seconds there). Great camera, but i'd rather you get to the informative point. many thanks!

I am sorry. This is fire 098, opposed to 101. Anyone that needs to watch this vid to learn, should stay home. We have S&R going out for enough dumb a$$e$, lets not add to it.
@TheLittlered19618 жыл бұрын
I should have mentioned that I did have S&R sent after me and my party. It was not a full blown S&R. Though it did make AP. My mother found out I was missing from the news and not my dad. She was 2000 miles away. Three reasons for not full blown S&R. Location was somewhat known. Second , well prepared. Third, someone had spotted us earlier in the day. This was a vehicle break down. Bad alternator. They found us walking out on the main road. All this took place in -17 f weather. Take notice of the 2 most important things, Well prepared and someone knew where we were. If you do those 2, you will live.
