I stopped watching Strictly years ago. No specific reason. But I've just watched this and remembered what fabulous dancers the Pros were....and are. This was particularly good. I really enjoyed rhe music and the choreography. Great entertainment.

I can’t believe what I’ve just watched. There is absolutely nothing that represents Northern Soul in this clip. The BBC rewriting history and the truth in the name of their narrative. It turns one of the greatest underground movements into an embarrassingly terrible joke.

just stick to ballroom dancing your good at that .... unlike us Northerners you got no Soul. The movement of dance in soul music is all about free styling not something thats choreographed

the problem is with such shows, that you have to choreograph it at least partially for soecial elements, when the celebs join and the story behind. Therefore it is difficult to represent free dancing, regardless of the dance itself. The Ballroom Blitz at Blackpool (2012 or so) and the "I fot bills..." 2015 did it better. This is coming from a ballroom dancer, so I have no idea, what Northern Soul is. This performence to me seems non strict, jammy on the first sight, witch probably most of the audience only see. Feel sorry, that this is apparently that bad, that it insults most of the Northern Soul dancers, witch is terribble and I hope they will listen/adapt to those more in the future.

@@emmata98 I fully respect all Ballroom Dancers , I for one cant do the type of dancing that they have trained to do for so many years they make it look so easy and seem to glide across the floor . However I think that the BBC should have picked from the people who were in attendance for the " Northern Soul weekender " . Not all N/S dancers dance the same their footwork and body movements differ and they adopt / invent their own movements to the music. Maybe the BBC will take note of your comments , I also respect your honesty when you say " I have no idea what northern soul is " stay safe

It's a TV show, so the choreography has to combine all the talents on it, i.e. the Professional Dancers, the Celebrity dancers and the Northern Soul avids. Thank you BBC for putting on a great advert for the genre. Fantastic, really.
