Even with the fact that this player is on tilt, is the jam on the flop really necessary? If we think he’s raising worse kings or 4x or even a total airball because he’s tilting, is there some argument for just calling, checking the turn and letting him barrel again? Even if he checks back, we can just jam the river.

This is where I need to sharpen up. I pound the passive 70% VPiP fish with C-Bets, then the one time they show strength and check raise me I call and lose.

I agree that folding is the best play.. If villain6 raises 3x my bet I could continue sometimes but with that amount I will fold, K2 offsuit preflop is ridiculous hand to play.

The problem in this hand is that it's between a nit and a tilted recreational who has the position on Hero. The recreational is on a revenge mission to recover the money he lost to Hero. He will therefore flat 100% of the hands to catch Hero. So preflop in Hero's position I won't flat this hand, I'll preflop 4bet or fold to clear the recreative's flat range. Posflop, being out of position I'd be very careful before putting money in the pot to definitely destake Hero. As he's in tilt and braced against Hero, just be patient, it'll happen. Even though the hand is fundamentally not badly played, it's worth noting that Villain is giving an important tell. He's going big with his hand against two players to avoid seeing a spade on the turn. The other tell is that he clearly says he's not afraid of an AA, AK or KQ. So Hero is already not very good versus these strength tells. The check flop option with the back door flush was also to be considered!? I think it's possible to go further in exploiting Villains. I understand the argument in favor of playing against a range too wide to fold. But when Villain plays as if his cards were revealed before the showdown, you really have to take advantage of it. In conclusion, I feel that there are small errors in this hand that don't justify the fact that Villain is a recreational and that it's possible to play approximate poker. On the contrary, as the ranges are more random, we need to be uncompromising about folding good hands, be patient and play for the stack when we're ahead. Not paying passive players is really the golden rule!...

Hello how to raise preflop if there are antes in the game (1 bb ante from all players )? Do we go X times the BB or % of the pot?
@MarkoAssi_pokervlogger Жыл бұрын
My thoughts on this...based on my experience playing lowstakes...its ok to go all in. Fish could have flush draw, OESD or K with weak kicker. We call also have 2 pairs or set sometimes but most of the time you are ahead vs k9 suited and the like.

This should have been a fold. I'd rather crush this fish in a later hand. There is always another hand against these guys.

From all the hands I have played when low AF fish raise post-flop they have two pair or better most of the time AA on this flop makes sense too.

I thought it would be K4. I played a guy like this earlier tonight. He was 90/50/4. He doubled me up twice then caught someone else for a 2 buyin pot and left. I hated to see him go.

I hate the shove. With those notes, call the flop bet and keep the villains bluffs in there. I would still be aiming at getting stacks in, but even a fish can fold to the all in when they have nothing. Then continue firing small bets on turn and river will still get stacks in, and bluffy fish then has a chance to all in bluff.
@nicks2106843 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree, not sure what the shove accomplishes. If we flat the flop raise and check to him on turn he’ll probably keep barrelling with his junk/air. He might be tilting but I still doubt he’s calling our shove with ace high. And even if he checks behind on the turn we can just shove the river.

Its also a 6 top. You only need 3:1 odds to play anything. The call gave the whale odds. You don't need good cards. You need a great flop.

Loved the analysis Nathan, a lot of great points to inform the pre and post flop play. Keep up the awesome work!! IMO, a super tough spot against this absolute drooler whale on the flop! Based on his AF, he has a narrow flop re-raise range and I'd say insta-fold, but based on the history I'd wanna see what he has. SO, personally, I think if u can't make the fold on the flop, you can peel one off to see if; 1. He double barrels - If he double barrels, I'm gonna say that a player that weak is not bluffing on the turn and has probably top pair top kicker or better. So if; 2. Your top pair improves, you can continue - With that turn, the flush draw will mean you're still drawing live against his non-bluffing range, and I think u can shove it at that point.

It's actually not a call with players left to act. You need info using a 3bet. A call only invites a family pot and you won't fair well with just one pair. You know this. KJs is a raise on 6 top. 9 top this would have been a fold.

I had AK the other day which I’d raised from UTG. Got raised on a K95 flop. Guy eventually showed up with K9 offsuit. 🙄 I honestly think against a lot of microstakes populations you could fold TPTK to a single raise vs an unknown player and feel good about it. Unless they’re a trickier reg or just a maniac your hand is never good. I always try and convince myself they’re barrelling off with a flush draw but it so rarely seems to be the case...and when it is the case their flush comes in on the river anyway 😂
@schroederluck79843 жыл бұрын
Got back into online poker this afternoon and ran into a similar scenario. Playing .05/.1 and raised UTG with AKo and got 2 callers. Flop comes A34 with 2 spades. Check check to me, I fire for 3/4 and next to act raises me a decent size. Tough to fold when there are draws out there, so I called. Dude ended up having pocket 4s. Got 1 more street from me but I didnt pay off on the river even though the draws all missed so I lost like 55 BB. Whenever the fishy players raise into an uncapped range on an A high flop, it's literally just 2 pair or better. They just dont really raise their draws or find creative bluffs at all.
@nicks2106843 жыл бұрын
@@schroederluck7984 good fold I guess. How did you find out he had 44? I assume someone else was in the hand? The guy with K9 actually checked behind me on the river for some reason lol, otherwise I probably would have folded to a large river bet. Still lost 50 BBs or something. You’re correct that fish don’t bluff their draws so if they’re raising an A high board it’s almost always two pair plus. But to be fair to them...a lot of players won’t fold an A on an A high board. So why bluff I guess? Just bet your big hands with impunity and play your draws passively.
@schroederluck79843 жыл бұрын
@@nicks210684 He gave up the betting lead and checked to me on the river for whatever reason. Run out was 7 and 9 of diamonds. I checked back the river. Was planning on folding to a bet but I didnt see value in betting anymore myself.
@j.sutherland76222 жыл бұрын
Preflop he should have folded preflop KJs OR 3bet the nit behind him to isolate with position if he really wanted info and play the hand. If he 3bets and the nit shoves or 4bets..you know what he has. Calling allowed 3:1 for the whale even with rags. Post flop I would have folded. 3x the pot amount? After your 3/4 raise? He has you beat. Calling on hope to improve with this overbet is not correct mathematically long run.

Damn you’re really teaching people to flat from MP in 5% uncapped rake games that’s wild. Pro tip: 3bet or fold kids. KJs is a standard 3bet, suited broadways are in your 3bet range. Don’t flat preflop except from the bb. Not even on the button for multi-way pots, you’re leaking. The hands you think play well multi-way really don’t. You just have reverse implied odds.
