Yeah, I agree. If you are in the cutoff or button, have a bad hand but there are 4 limpers ahead of you and you know the BB and SB are tight, you can get at least 6 to 1 on a very cheap bet, even with a weak hand like 4-7, for example.

I've sometimes found that limping with a baby pocket pair (2-6) lets me see cheaper flops and fold when I don't hit my three of a kind.
@JLIV461 Жыл бұрын
I usually raise two BB's. Not enough to knock people out, but just to build the pot, in case my set-mining pays off. And it's not like I'm pot committed if I miss the Flop. Also, if there's a substantial three-bet at least you narrow their range. And depending on the player, and his stack size, decide whether you want to call or let it go. Just my two cents. What do y'all think?

QUEST: Home game. If player-1 and player-2 have the same pair, but Player-1 says he has a pair + Queen kicker & Player-2 has the same pair BUT uses the Ace showing on the board, then Player-1 realizes his mistake and also calls Ace kicker, is he allowed to change his mind once called? THANKS
@blowc16122 ай бұрын
As long as both players showed hands then YES, also I fail to see if both players just have the same pair, that the queen wouldn't eventually be a kicker. In a show down situation it doesn't matter what both player says, if they turn over their cards, the best possible hand is played for them.

I think that’s valid to do in certain situations but for a beginner video it’s easier to just say don’t do it. When to limp is too nuanced for the scope of this video
@oldshoe1 Жыл бұрын
Disguising could work in your favor, but it’s not the best strategy. You want to bet to make the smaller cards, or pretty much weaker hands fold. Sometimes those weak hands can flop something good to end up beating you. Also when you bet you can also get a better read on the players, but at this point you should know what type of player you’re up agains.

I had a friend who played omaha hi low; and he told me this story; before the river came down, he had the highest implied odds, so he raised and his opponent reraised etc until they raised it all, and he told me that just through sheer chance his opponent won the hi and low pot and to this day, he told me that no one would have called him like that and couldn't believe he lost it all. According to him, thankfully this was a low stakes game so he didn't lose much, just his pride.

Gotta learn how to play your opponents. The lower the skills the more basic you should play, the better they are the more you should be able to pull out the better moves. Your friend was playing a bad player who is a call box.

@@blowc1612 one thing I don't understand is this though.. according to him, he had the highest implied odds before the river... why would anyone call him?
@blowc16122 ай бұрын
@@asdf9C his opponent doesn't understand any of it, had a huge draw as they are playing high low so they called on their slim chance of hitting the exact card they needed to win. Your friend most likely was ahead on both fronts and thought that at worse he would chop of either having the high or low. As I said the lower the skills level of your opponent the more basic you should play as they'll be more likely be a call box and have no clue what they are doing so all the advance plays doesn't apply to them. You cant bluff them out of their pair, you can't make them think you have the better hand, they dont understand how behind they are in the hand on their draws Playing basic against these players of playing premium hands, playing to make sure you don't shoot yourself if they get lucky and the fact that unless you know you have the best hand you should fire big on them knowing they'll call with their weaker hand. That's how you make money off low skill players. Judging how your friend play, he is just an average player who cannot even adjust their skill level to their opponent. As it is a skill required to become a better player. Majority of playing better is within the assumption that your opponent understands what you are doing, if they don't even the skills to understand that, then it is pointless to even make the moves so it is always best to play down to the basic against no skill players as the basic strategy should be more than enough to beat them in the long run.

We play friendly tho. Not much raising. Quarter ante, Quarter bets. No blinds. Kinda turned me into a see it player. And I been smoked by the tags a few times. But I feel like I'm doing something right haha. Love your content

Honestly if you have basic strategy down, you'll probably do alright. The thing with online that I've noticed is tables are often a mixed bag. People play crazy online, so it helps to be a bit more conservative, especially if you're in a situation where you can't afford to lose much. That being said, poker is gambling, and if you can't afford to lose, you can't afford to win. Only play with money you'd be 100% okay with saying goodbye to. And at least for me, nerves throw me off, so if you're already worried about winning, you don't want to have to worry about losing on top of that.
