I have been studying bitcoin for years and still learn something new every day from your videos. I really enjoy watching you respond to feedback from bitcoin deniers. The responses mirror the attitudes of most people in my life who still have absolutely no clue how bitcoin is changing the world. 2025 is really shaping up to be the big year of mainstream adoption so it may be the year that many of the deniers finally start to see the light. But - I'm not holding my breath. Thanks for all your work Matt.

Thanks Matt. I was one that tweeted and asked you to respond about the Roger Ver Tucker interview. I think it’s worth a watch just because Tucker is so important. I felt bad for him because he seems fairly naive in regards to btc and was probably deceived into the interview. Roger Ver is not a Snowden like figure but Tucker may think so unfortunately. Most of the comments seemed pro Roger so I’m concerned that this may have damaged Btc for the normies as they will believe his criticisms of Btc.

Matthew you are a blessing to the community, thank you for your continued education that you are providing. I have two questions, 1st: what is the best practice if you want to gift small amounts of BTC, i.e. to a nephew , lets say I want to gift 50,000 SATS. And 2nd question, if you have a Legacy SegWit account on a hardware wallet, should a new Native Segwit account be created, and then transfer from the Legacy to Native? I'm still not clear on UTXOs and best practices. I'm just HODLing but I also want to make sure i'm using best practices.

Personally, I'd set them up (and teach them) with a hot wallet like BlueWallet or Aqua for small amounts + Sparrow. Anything that shows the fiat amount so they can actually see it growing in value. Better make sure to teach them how to handle/secure their recovery words. As for the address, I'd start another wallet and move all my Bitcoin to a more updated address for better security/future proofing.

One thing that I've noticed in the community is that people don't truly understand what it means to be a fiduciary and how very serious an oath it is. People just give their "this is not financial advise" disclaimer and move along. The thing is, individuals and companies that *are* licensed to give financial advice or handle large sums of money on behalf of others have ridiculously strict codes of conduct they must abide by. Basically every word that they utter in public is bound by law. It's much easier to understand Larry Fink when you realize that he's a fiduciary. Now that he's legally allowed to endorse a Bitcoin product, he's out orange-pilling every client that will bother to listen to him. It just so happens that his clients have super deep pockets and hate it that their dollars are melting just like the rest of us. And boy do they have a lot of dollars lol

Hi Matthew! I have an idea for a video that I think your audience would find interesting. How about comparing the energy consumption of Bitcoin and gold, and how fiat currencies are still partially backed by gold reserves? Bitcoin vs. Gold: Did you know that gold consumes more energy than Bitcoin? Gold mining is estimated to use about 240 TWh annually, while Bitcoin uses around 100-140 TWh. Fiat and gold reserves: While fiat currencies are no longer tied directly to gold, many central banks still hold significant gold reserves to maintain trust. How would the world view a currency with no indirect gold backing? Conventional currency is actually more harmful to the environment than BTC. I love your comments: "Go out and make a nocoiner cry" and "Good luck with your shiny yellow rocks" - they’re absolutely brilliant!

I wonder what Bitcoin Core node versions are normal node operators running right now. Currently running one Bitcoin Core node on one of my servers. I did take the latest version of the Bitcoin Core node. However, if different node operators are using different versions of the Bitcoin Core. Does it matter or I am only connected to nodes with the same version as me? That is still confusing to understand but I do get that if there was an undesirable change to Bitcoin Core, I don’t have to upgrade.

@HowardARoarkАй бұрын
Good response Matt. The key to Bitcoin's resilience is that it requires consensus. Without consensus Blackrock cannot change existing Bitcoin, nor can they gain traction with a fork they create - it all requires consensus, and that is a very difficult thing to achieve. Consensus for a change is only achieved when that change is universally accepted and is without any doubt a good thing for Bitcoin. That means that Blackrock is up against something that is too big for it to control.
