Monster Mississippi River Catfish

In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing for monster catfish in the Mississippi River with my good buddy Capt. Blake. We were using a giant yellowfin tuna carcass for chum to lure these monster catfish towards our boat. For bait, we were using yellowfin tuna, wahoo, cobia, and dolphin (mahi-mahi).

I love when you do freshwater fishing videos and I love to catfish. Those are serious catfish the largest I have ever caught was around 20 pounds and those make it look like a baby. The catfish with the weird sores was a Breeder in the river. By far the oldest catfish I’ve seen and it’s skinnier then a rail compared to the others. I bet when she was in her prime and eating she weighed well over 60 pounds. Great fish you guys!

I grew up in Buras, about 15 Miles north of Venice. I use to love just sitting on the bank of the river and loading up on everything from Redfish, to Big Blue Cats. When they are smaller they are really good eating also.
