You should do something about the dangers of crochets braids...although I do love em and get them done to my head often, I notice depending on who I let do my hair it feels like when I take these out ama have a "problem"(un-usual breakage).Some people are just ruff and destructive. So I wanted to know is their a right and wrong way to do crochet? They seem so easy to do anybody can do them.

They are all so beautiful and I have yet to see a black person's hair I didn't like. You have beautiful hair and a beauty that shines from the inside all the way out
@arleneaugustahair83934 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, a lot of people think that they have coarse hair and they really don’t. They will have medium texture but a lot of density. People think that because their hair is dry that it is coarse. Basically, according to the chart, your hair would actually be a 4B and not a 4C. We don’t even use this chart in the industry because it is misleading. One of Oprah’s stylist created this chart and people ran with it. I’m a Licensed Cosmetologist. They taught us about texture and formation. The reason why some people’s hair doesn’t do the same as some KZbinrs is because they don’t know about their density, elasticity or porosity. Those other three things are also important factors in choosing products for your hair. Unfortunately, people end up becoming product junkies because they don’t know what hair products to use with their hair. They also don’t know about layering products to get a good result. There is actually 3 different textures: fine, medium and coarse. They represent the letters of the chart. The numbers represent the formation: straight, wavy, curly and coily. People need to know their texture, formation, density, elasticity and porosity. You will never know what kind of products to use if you don’t know those 5 things. If you have low porosity it means the products are just sitting on top of your hair. In order for products to penetrate your hair you need to have the cuticles raise. Medium porosity is the best because the cuticle is raise enough. You do not need to change anything you are doing. High porosity your hair soaks up products easily. If you have lightened or colored your hair, your regimen is going to change because you’re going to have to use products for color treated and/or lightened hair.
@torab19964 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Thank you for sharing. Just a couple questions though- you say we need to know our texture, formation, density, elasticity and porosity...and I can’t really tell if you’re agreeing or disagreeing with this video. So how do we figure all that out? Or is this video an accurate way of discovering those things? Thank you in advance!
@KiraiBK4 жыл бұрын
I can’t figure out my formation. My hair is naturally very shiny. It’s not fine and wets pretty easily. I believe it’s medium porosity but my hair will NOT air dry in an hour. One side of my hair is deep waves, the other side is loose curly ringlets, the front inch fluffs with no definable curl and the back is a soft, silky, tighter curl (like what the video shows as 4A). I can’t figure out what each section needs in order to ever let my curls loose. I always have it braided or twisted because of this.

My 4a/4b type of hair tangles, my curl intertwine, I get knots at the end of my hair, I retain length, but it only grows to my collar bone. The shrinkage is real, and my hairstyle can last for a week when I leave it alone. Sometimes, I reset it to refresh my curls.

This video was very informative. Thank you so much for sharing your valuable insight! I've been natural since 2014 and I learned more about my hair type in this 20-minute video than I have the past six years.

Breanna, this is a great video, but I would suggest you linger more on the images, reverting to voice over, as opposed to showing yourself so much. It was hard to study all of the hair types you so beautifully are describing because you kept cutting back to yourself too fast. Thank you for this great content, nonetheless. You have done a good job.

My hair is 4c, I have lived a lifetime learning how to take care of it…I can’t say I love it, but I have finally learned to take care of it..I love it more natural..and have been wearing it natural about 10 years…

I’m 3c/4a, fine, high density, low porosity, and it’s naturally really soft. For a while after my big chop, I thought I was 4b and I was totally fine with that. I did the porosity test and found out I was low porosity. After that I started making moisturizer my priority. Soon my hair started to loosen and hang. The tangles I struggled with also started to lessen. Deep conditioning weekly with my heated drier saved my Sahara desert dry hair 😂. I love both type 3 and 4 hair types but I never really belonged to one. It was almost like my hair was too tight for 3 and too loose for 4. Not to mention whenever I went on to comments of people with my hair type saying they were 4a, they got all kinds of hate! I get hair type can be important but let’s stop acting like one is better than the other! Spread love guys! It’s okay if your hair is a tad bit tighter than someone. Not all type 4 hair looks the same. All of our hair defies the European beauty standards of straight long hair! We need to stick together! Our curls have created a community that makes us feel like we don’t have to change ourselves for anyone! Please if you feel the urge to put someone down because of the way they look, take a minute to understand the pain that they already have felt at some point. And realize if you are the one that wants to make them feel it again.

Kree Ol6 no she don’t .when 4c hairs dries it looks almost like cotton if you go really near them you can see the coils .I have 4a hair and when my hair is wet is is like a 3c but as soon as it dries the curls are still there but the hair gets really voluminous . People mistake dry hair for 4c hair al the times but that’s not the case

Well done vid. As a 40+ year old woman, I've discovered that aging, diet and certain medications have affected my hair over the years. I've had to take supplements to restore hair balance. So, diet, the aging process, and medications/health conditions are all things to keep in mind when taking care of one's hair health. 👍🏽

Very very good explanation. In my childhood, my hair seemed strictly dense 4c . 2 yrs ago I shaved all my hair off and consistently deep conditioned. My hair grew really quickly with a combination of 4a,b and c allover my head.

Okay so this is the BEST video on YT to explain hair typing. I am really convinced that I have 4b-4C hair, but parts of me thinks it is mainly 4C. It's dry, breaks, has tight coils, etc. I just can't hold a style more than a day or two and I have a slightly "looser" texture in the front (likely from it being pulled and over-styled) so I am most likely a combination hair type, with a majority of 4C. Thank you! We have delicate strands :-)

I have 4b hair and man the shrinkage is real! But then I loove it! 🙌🏾 I thank God for blessing me with such patterns 💕 4B Medium density (thick and thin) Thin cours hair Medium porosity I use water, olive oil and jojoba oil, shea butter (makes my hair thick), aloe Vera and hair food pomade.

OMG!!! We have the EXACT hair across the board. I have 4b hair for mostly 85% of my head. My crown top part is 4a/3c mixture. Medium density. Texture (thin/fine). Medium/normal porosity. Products: olive, jojoba, coconut, argan. aloe Vera oils. Wakati, Mane n Tail, Kenra, Mizani, Joico and The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian. Of course, Olaplex treatment biweekly. Hair is no longer blonde but still use Olaplex for bond replacements, repair, strengthening and moisture.

1) If i try to hold my hair down in a ponytail and the hair tie just slides away does it count as my hair being full or thick and it tends to poof up whenever i apply gel? 2)What are the best mosturizers to use? 3)When using deep conditioners can i use it regularly instead of the oils? 4)Lastly which hair type am i since the front part of my head till the middle is soft and long like a 2c/3 while the rest of my hair is shorter and tougher?

Thank u, thank u, thank u for explaining the differences in curl patterns, especially between 4b and 4c. For the longest time, I didn’t know if I was one or the other. Now I know I’m mostly 4c in my crown with a touch of 4b on the sides and back. The visual explanation of actual curls vs coils helped, also. Nicely done.
