Ive had the same problem on several of the same heli after numerous crashes. I just chalked it up to bad piloting on my part, i never looked any further for another reason but you dove headfirst into figuring it out and it sounds like you did just that. I am very impressed with your skillset and determination and i would even bet money that if you set your mind to it and do a little research on how to solder things like that board that you would kill it. Ill give you a tip: a microscope will be your friend when working with small circuit boards and practice on other boards first with a very steady hand clean tip and no solder but do use a safe flux. Just barely touch each terminal when it melts pull the iron off, it will be very quick. Good luck. Its not hard just dont get anything too hot and take your time..

Thk u for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated! Yes, probably poor solder joints because of horrible lead-free solder. I watch a lot of electronics guys fixing things and they OFTEN blame the lead-free solder. Thx for the great tips! Cheers!

The jittering on the servo means that there’s dirt in the servo where it senses the position so the servo can’t properly determine the location. The servo then jumps around trying to find the desired position. I had the same problem on my mCP X. I cleaned it with some electrical safe corrosion inhibitor, then blew it out with an air compressor, then cleaned all the crap off with 99.9% rubbing alcohol.

Thx. I did that too. Can't remember if I talked about it in the vid.

@@TechNoPhobiaGirl, I found another video where you talked about using DeoxIT Fader spray. I used something extremely greasy. It was pretty horrible stuff that would definitely collect dust and dirt if I didn’t clean it off.

You can glue your tail boom to the chassis using clear nail polish. The nail polish is strong enough to hold it, but weak enough so you can still pull it out (with a little difficulty). If your tail boom is loose and keeps falling out, try the nail polish.

I had the Blade 70S for indoor flying, then here in 2022 went an retired it for the Blade Nano S3. Here's a BIG tip...if you replace damned near every component from the frame to tail feather with aftermarket, it WILL be a much heavier an finicky bird.

My Nano S3 motherboard seems to be overheating. The symptom is that it’s losing power before the battery is drained. I can let it sit to cool down, then fly some more. If I remove the canopy, I can fly until the battery is drained.

@@terjeoseberg990 Interesting. Horizon Hobbies suck, IMO. I had started in the hobby with a Blade CX2, a million years ago, and it was great. However, BOTH my Nanos are garbage. I also bought a Spektrum NX6, and it, too, is garbage. I paid TWICE the price of my RadioMaster TX16S, and got a 100% WORSE radio!!! I didn't even get the GOOD gimbals on my TX16S, and it's *STILL* 10x the radio vs the NX6!

I had exactly the same problem with the loss of radio connection and binding and have just finished replacing the battery connection on the heli, which didn't completely solve the problem, so then I replaced the battery and this solved the problem. I don't think you need a new main board, just try a new/different battery.

I don't think that was a bad servo causing the jitters mine kept doing this exact same thing come to find out I was binding it in rtf transmitter mode instead of computer transmitter mode. Once I figured that out no problems since then. He rebound it after they fixed it didn't they?
@TechNoPhobiaGirl3 жыл бұрын
This model eventually destroyed itself when it went haywire on me. I think the motor got destroyed (it was bouncing around on the floor WITHOUT radio control). I don't fly it anymore, anyway. I bought a new Nano S2 to replace it, but even it would go screwy for a second or two while I was in the air. I eventually figured out (guessed?) that it was ACTUALLY my RADIO (DX6i) that was/is faulty. I bought it used and I think the guy sold it KNOWING it was faulty cuz I've had trouble with EVERY model I've used with that radio. The radio got retired, much to my disappointment, and I replaced it with OpenTX RM TX16S. I don't know how to program it for Spektrum RXs yet tho, so my Nano S2 goes unused, unfortunately.

@@TechNoPhobiaGirl that's exactly what mine was doing yesterday when I was trying to get everything programmed properly. And being as I've never flown collective pitch it was especially hard trying to understand what parts weren't correct. Most frustrating thing ever. Luckily it's all straightened out and flying great now. Mine was acting so weird it would end up flying upside down and I didn't have a clue how the hell it got there lol

What's the diff in binding in RTF mode vs computer TX mode??? I just followed the binding instructions in the manual.
@jasonbarnes80473 жыл бұрын
@@TechNoPhobiaGirl the rtf transmitter is set up differently as far as switches and the way the helicopter works. When you bind it you have to hold left on the rudder stick for rtf mode and right on the rudder stick for computer transmitter. I noticed if I didn't do that the pitch would sweep like it was sticking it would shudder and vibrate like it was having a seizure. And if you did get it flying it wandered a lot and was hard to trim

You should be able to refllow the solder with a heat gun, or an oven (at the correct temperature). The surface tension of the solder should hold the chips in place. Watch some Louis Rossmann Macbook repair videos.

Thx. Been watching Louis for years. My CP S is shot. When it went crazy on me, flopping around on the floor and banging into everything, I believe the main motor burned out. I'm not going to fix it. I have a blade nano s3 ...got it for free my buddy couldn't fly it… kept flying it into walls and doors everything smashed blades clean off… He said do you want it I said sure and to my surprise it's perfect… I'm having a blast bombing around my living room it flies really well. I'm getting eight minute flights every time which I couldn't believe at first it's incredible… Today I accidentally flew it into the tripod well failing…( Insert innocent pilot) just trying to get too close for a close-up. Don't worry is fine. I'm more worried about brushed motors to be honest. But I guess it's worth replacing as I got it for free anyway… What a nice buddy

And eight minute flights are pretty cool it even impressed me. Keep in touch

@@jeffrenman4146 I haven't flown my S2 much, to be honest. I don't like the way it flies (specifically the flight controller characteristics). I was also having MAJOR battery problems with BRAND NEW E-flite batteries and it pissed me off SO MUCH that I stopped flying it. Horizon actually sent me 4 new batteries for free a couple months ago but I haven't opened them. Everyone on YT RAVES about the S2, but I don't like it. I was going to make a video about it, but I figured it was a waste of time. I've only pirouetted my S2 a few times, but it seemed to be pretty stable. I've heard from YT that the S3 is even MORE stable???

@@TechNoPhobiaGirl sorry to hear about your S 2… my S 3 seems to fly okay indoors except pirouette isn't nice and flat it goes in a spiral starts to leave its area… It may also have a pitch up problem but I'm only indoors anyway it seems to fly okay and I get amazing 8 minute flights from a 200 mAh battery… And considering I got it for free and my friend crashed so many times I'm probably lucky it's in one piece I thought he was giving me junk but it actually works. I balance the rotor blades it helped vibration the little tail fin doesn't vibrate noticeably. I wish you the best did you get another helicopter?

@@jeffrenman4146 There's GOT to be something wrong with your bird, given the symptoms. Since your buddy crashed the heck out of it, there HAS TO BE something bad. Perhaps a servo? Those little linear servos seem to be glitchy/prone to failure, in my experience. I have SEVERAL other helicopters that I fly, but only outdoors. I live in a tiny apartment so flying indoors is a BAD scenario, even for a GOOD pilot. I bought an XK K110 as a replacement for my Nano CP S, but it's too much bigger than the Nano so I don't fly it indoors at all. In fact, I don't fly it AT ALL anymore. I flew it 270 times and then the tail got weak so I stopped flying it. I bought new tails but I haven't done the surgery yet. I bought an E160 (bigger, better, faster), which I *LOVED*, but then I replaced it with an OMP M2, which is INCREDIBLE. Lately, I've been mostly flying my old-school Align Trex 450SE cuz it's BIG and can take the wind a little better. I'm about to convert it to FBL (needed to buy digital servos for the FBL unit, but they just arrived). Anyway, this comment is getting too long. Cheers!

Sorry about the crappy video quality and focusing problems! I used the video editor to crop in closely on the model and the resolution just isn't there. To make matters worse, the camera was having a LOT of trouble focusing on the model because of the way I shot it, and the total lack of contrast. Hope the video is a LITTLE helpful, nonetheless!

Instead of glue on the end of the main shaft, use a drop of clear nail polish. It’ll hold the gear in place unless you pull it off on purpose, or crash extremely hard. When new then Nano S2 and S3 both come with a drop of rubbery glue on the end of the shaft holding the gear on.

PLEASE READ! I recently found out that my radio (Spektrum DX6i -- ORIGINAL, non-DSMX version) is *NOT* compatible with the Nano CP S, despite EVERYTHING I read to the contrary! *THAT* is very likely the cause of *ALL* my connection issues, not the board! Very, *VERY* disappointing! So, yah, my radio is NOT FAULTY, it's just NOT COMPATIBLE with the helicopter!
