Blade rap sorted. Using Victorinox pen sharpener.

I have both the Victorinox pen sharpener and that little Smith's Arkansas stone - both very handy and inexpensive bits of kit. I also have much larger and more expensive sharpening stones, fixed-angle systems etc, but sometimes a little stone and a strop is all you need.

Very good idea. I betcha you could use the hook groove in a diamond stone for heavy work as well. I'll add this to my Sharpening video list. Great job! Stay healthy and best wishes from Tennessee

The groove is for fish hooks which of course are rounded with a point. However your idea of using it to remove a chip and level out, gives more control.

Paddy I went through a Laguiole buying phase and picked up a dozen or so beautiful examples from Laguiole Imports in Florida and not knowing better let a few of the blades drop with enough force to develop blade rap and thanks to your previous video became aware on how to handle without developing blade rap so thanks for that and this video on how to fix up the couple of Laguiole knives that sustained the RAP. I just ordered the pen. Thanks!
